Objective:
The objective of this workshop Cum Training Programme is to train our mathematicians and
physicists to boost the general awareness on popular aspects of Astronomy/Space Sciences and
to expose young scientists (young faculties, research scholars and Students(M.A/M.Sc/M.Tech
etc) to modern trends in Celestial Mechanics, Space Dynamics and Planetary Sciences
(Cosmology, Stellar, Galactic and Extragalactic, Astronomy, Space Missions etc.) to enthuse and
conduct activities for popularization of their field of interest and to commemorate the “India
Mathematics Year 2009 (IMY 2009)” and “The International Year of Astronomy (IYA
2009)”.

Leading experts (National/International) from these various fields will enlighten them on the
major thrust areas and developments therein. The objective of this workshop is also to review the
current state of the art in the above mentioned area through paper presentations, key note
addresses, lectures and discussions, to expose the participants to more recent developments in
various techniques, analytical as well as numerical, as applicable to Space Mechanics, to identify
and assess the degree of augmentations desirable in respect of software packages available for
this purpose with different centres and to establish contacts with experts in the vital field with a
view to facilitate the in flow of technical information.
.
As a workshop on various topics is to introduce enthusiastic and energetic chapters viz.
EVENTS and STAR-GAZING.
EVENTS: This will be basically a very significant session of the workshop. All the participants
will be invited to participate in the event. They will first see a documentary on Solar System/
Mars and Chandrayan-I and followed by extensive discussion among the experts. This session
will be interesting and highly informative specially for young minds.
STAR-GAZING: Star-gazing and night sky observation on evenings will be also highly
interesting and informative for all. These sessions will be conducted by experts to educate the
young participants about the science and technologies in Astronomy.

It is the pious hope of the organizers that the young among the participants will be enthused to
pursue Space Dynamics/Celestial Mechanics/Astronomy etc. as a career and take our country to
greater heights in the Space Research.

Contents:
   (A) SOLAR SYSTEM AND STELLAR SYSTEMS
       (Dynamics of Solar System and Stellar Interactions);
