Introduction

Micro-membership sites are a great way of earning recurring cash unlike other forms of online
marketing where you have to put in a lot of effort to get new clients on a regular basis to
make money.

They can involve a lot of work or very little. It all depends on the model you choose, and how
much you want to charge your customers.

You can decide to work for thirty minutes a day if you want to provide basic information or
you can work for 12 hours a day offering 1 on 1 coaching, and get higher returns on your
investment of time.

Micro-membership sites also allow you to work from any location you want. It is very rare to
find a membership owner who does not work from home. With this kind of membership
program, the overhead costs are minimal.

There is nothing much you need to do when setting up a paid micro-membership site. The
most important thing you need is to be aware of the needs of the target audience and fulfill
them and if you are passionate about this kind of business, you will be very successful.

As mentioned, the expenses you incur are relatively lower compared with other types of
businesses therefore getting capital to start will not be difficult. Paid micro-membership sites
are here to stay and you should take advantage of them to make some good money.

Here’s why…

A micro-membership site can be a source of regular income for you. Micro-membership is a
stable business because the members pay you in return for providing them with the
content they want content a monthly basis.

There is limited selling involved and once you have set up a website and signed up a
considerable number of people, all you need to do is provide them with the information
   they need.

Micro-membership does not have any major maintenance, expensive rent or transport
costs because there are no products involved. You simply upload the content your
members need… and the download it.

You can begin developing a membership site on a part time basis, and as it grows,
you can consistently add new content as you go, rather than having to spend weeks

                                                                                             Page 6
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

developing an abundance of content upfront.

One of the great things about starting a membership site is you can simply take
your hobby, existing specialized knowledge or interests and quickly turn it into a
   profitable business.

Your profit margins can be incredibly high as opposed to a traditional “bricks and mortar”
business. There’s no need to hire staff, or pay for production costs over and over again.
You simply create the content once, and get paid over again and again.

Recurring Income…

Now let’s talk about recurring income. Every single month the very same people pay you. You
don’t have to sell them anything, they’re already sold.

Recurring income adds up fast, too. For example; if you have a micro-membership website
that charges $29.95 per month that means that over the course of one year you will make
$359.40 from EACH MEMBER and with NO additional overhead expenses. It’s like a money
tree!

A majority of online businesses involve the sale of products and services but there is also a
section of people who make money from paid advertisements.

The one disadvantage that these two businesses have in common is that they every deal you
get is a one-off therefore you have to keep bringing in new visitors to your website if you want
to make money from the paid advertisements.

If you have gained enough experience to come up with your own digital information products,
you will have times when you are not making a lot of money especially when you are creating
the product but this will be balanced out when you start making sales and have income
coming in.

The problem with this kind of business is that there is no consistency and you may not have a
regular income each month.

Let’s compare the difference between selling 20 books per week and selling 20 memberships
per week.

If we assume a $20 sale price for both… 20 book sales per week will make you $400 per
week… or $20,800 per year.

                                                                                           Page 7
                               The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Now let’s compare this to selling 20 memberships per week…

For this example, I’m going to assume 4 weeks per month over a 6 month period (because I’m
lousy at math☺)

                                                                                     Page 8
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Assuming you stopped after 6 months…

Monthly income would be: $9,600.

Total income for year 1 would be: $91,200!

Let’s be realistic and allow for a 30% drop off in members… $63,840.

The Micro-Membership Profit Secret

Despite all the hype about discovering “untapped” niches, the truth is that they are not the
“pot of gold” that many marketers profess them to be.

When I first started out in my online business, I quickly developed the “niche” mantra… only
to spend almost 10 months and hundreds of dollars looking for that magical “untapped” niche
that would propel me into financial freedom.

The truth is that it wasn’t until a few years later that I learnt a very profound lesson about
online success. This lesson was taught to me by one of my biggest mentors in Jimmy D.
Brown, and I want to share this with right now because it really is THAT important to your
future business success…

Niche or Market?

Jimmy explained that probably the biggest mistake you can make with internet marketing is to
look for niches… In his own words: It’s not about “niches” – it’s about “markets”!

Here’s why…

The theory behind niche marketing is very simple…

You find a niche; you test the profitability of that niche; then you promote a product to the
niche… as the diagram illustrates below.

                                                                                             Page 9
                                The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Now don’t get me wrong, this is a very simple and straightforward system, and I must add
that many marketers have made a fortune by discovering these niches.

However niche marketing can also have some shortcomings, namely…

   1. Difficult to cross-promote between niches. This especially applies if you have products
in non-related niches. For example, your customers in your dog training niche may not
be interested in your fly fishing product.

On the other hand, if your niches are all about different aspects of fishing, then you can
easily cross promote your products. Are you starting to see where I’m going with this?

                                                                                         Page 10
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

   2. Non related niches will severely LIMIT your earning potential

   3. Discovering profitable niches can be extremely time and money consuming, unless you
strike it big at the very beginning.

So, if niches are not the answer, what is?

The keys to sustainable profit growth…

   1. Select a target market/audience (instead of a niche)

   2. Build your business around that market/audience

A “broad” target market/audience is made up of smaller “sub” niches, which means that:

        1. You can easily cross promote related products and membership programs
           to the entire market.

        2. You MAXIMIZE your PROFITS by offering related products to interested
           people.

        3. Because your are marketing to the same audience, then your marketing
efforts will be more streamlined and far less expensive

So instead of having to create articles, find keywords and conduct various
traffic strategies in different markets, your promotional activities will only
need to be varied slightly to appeal to each of your related niches.

        4. Creating micro-memberships to a target market is also less risky than
individual niches. If you find that one program isn’t working, then you can
shut it down, modify the content… and package it up for a related niche.

Remember that regardless of the niche, there will always be an overlap in
your content. So even a failed niche can still be valuable for 2 reasons:

Firstly, you have built a list that you can promote to, and secondly, you
can repackage the content and create an instant bonuses for other
           members, Thus over-delivering in value.

                                                                                            Page 11
                                   The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

The following diagram illustrates this theory at work…

Keep in mind that micro-membership sites are always much easier to manage and monetize
than general membership sites. Therefore the key is to start with a niche within your target
market, then keep creating micro-memberships for different, RELATED niches… then cross
promote them to each membership base.

That’s how you build your micro-membership business faster, and more profitably.

Having the Right Map to Succeed

By the time you are done with The 14-Day Micro-membership PROFIT Blueprint, you
will have all the steps you need to start your own micro-membership site. Once you have
created the first site, you can grow it gradually until you get to the level you want.

The core principle of this blueprint is the “KISS” philosophy of “Keep It Simple Stupid!” Yes,
there are many more and details steps you can take, but the truth is that from my own
experience, we can often spend far too much time researching and stressing about minor
details… and then nothing ever gets done.

The information I will provide you with will be relevant whether you have set up a micro-
membership website before or not. It has not been created as a “magic bullet”, but is
founded on sound and proven methods that have worked for me, in a way that will get you up
and running as quickly as possible… All you need to do is follow the steps provided and apply
the techniques.

So, without further delay, let's get started!

                                                                                         Page 12
                                The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

What is a Micro-Membership?

Starting a niche-membership site is relatively simple. You need a website, autoresponder and
payment processor.

Niche-membership programs are also known as…

   • Fixed Term Memberships

   • Micro-Memberships

   • Micro-Continuity Programs

   • Email / autoresponder based membership

Where this model differs from traditional membership models is that it provides members with
a specific outcome after a specific time-frame.

One of the keys to a micro-membership is the fact that you are offering your customer a step-
by-step series of modules that enables them to implement each step and see real results… as
opposed to an “open ended” approach that you find in traditional membership websites.

The “Top 5” Key benefits of micro-memberships…

Here are the key benefits to this type of membership model:

          1. Easy to create: With a micro-membership program, you are able to set up
complete membership sites quickly, with very little start up costs. All you need
are some content, website and emails to get started

          2. No expensive software required: Because the majority of the content will be
delivered via email, you don’t need a dedicated server, or expensive membership
             software.

          3. You get paid whilst building the membership: Rather than having to create
a plethora of content prior to launching, you can get your membership launched
sooner, and start getting paid whilst you complete the remainder of the content.

          4. Quick launch timeframe: A micro-membership only requires you to create the
first 4 to 6 weeks of content. They do not require you to create an “archive” of

                                                                                         Page 13
                               The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

content before launch. This means that you can virtually launch your first
            website within days.

         5. Create content once and get paid over and over again: Due to the format
nature of micro-memberships, you are in fact creating a “mini” or fixed term”
coaching program. Therefore, once you create the content once... that’s it!
Everything goes on autopilot, and you can begin working on your next program.

Micro-Membership Examples…

Here are two examples of my micro-membership sites. Note that these are my only 12 month
programs.

                                              1. 52 week program

Day 1: Market Research 101

While it’s first important to identify what you can personally bring to the table in terms
of content development, or material, you also need to make sure that other people are
willing to pay for access to this content.

Before you proceed, there are some questions that you need to ask yourself.

These include:

   Who is my target audience?
   Where can I find them?
What are the problems that keep them awake at night?

Answering these questions will not be difficult if you already have a successful business in a
specific market. In this kind of scenario, it will make more sense if you create a micro-
membership site for a market that you are already established and familiar with.

Once you have created a list of potential ideas, you need to evaluate the overall
profitability of the market before going any further.

If you do not already have a market that you are familiar with, finding one should be the first
thing you do. This does not have to be a complicated process therefore you should not spend
several weeks trying to come up with a market or an idea for a micro-membership site
because you will just end up wasting time.

If the word “research” makes you sweat bullets, then don’t worry — it’s easier than you think.

The purpose of market research is an important one: you are going to determine who will buy
your product, are they accustomed to spending money online, and how you can sell them
related micro-membership programs.

The more you can pinpoint your target market, the better success (and profits) you will see.

There are many methods of performing market research. We’ll cover the most effective ones
here. All of the following examples are fast, easy, and best of all…free.

For best results, use each one of them and arm yourself with as much information as possible.
This way, when you launch your micro-membership your earnings will truly be automatic.

                                                                                          Page 15
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Amazon

My favorite method of reviewing potential markets is by exploring www.Amazon.com to
determine the number of available products focusing on your subject matter. This is a great
way to determine whether or not your market is a popular (and profitable) one.

Your purpose in using Amazon for market research is twofold: you will identify your
competition and find out how popular your topic is, and you will also gain many ideas for your
membership content.

Here’s how to check it out:

      • Using the search bar at the top of the page, choose “Books” from the dropdown list
and type in your topic or keywords. The results you get will be both print books and
        e-books.

      • Make note of prices and the number of titles available relating to your topic.

      • Once you find a product, if you “look inside” the book, you can view the table of
contents. Make a list of the topics (do not copy them) in order to get some ideas.

      • Ideally, you want to search for “how to” books, as the content is laid out in a similar
        manner to your micro-membership content.

Next, you want to determine if people are accustomed to spending money online for products
in your market.

ClickBank

You can do this by browsing through existing marketplaces like www.ClickBank.com to
determine how many products are available, the communication and delivery channels that are
being used, as well as the popularity of your potential market.

If you don't find many products on ClickBank or the ones that are there have less than stellar
numbers – that's not necessarily an indicator that your product won't succeed. If the
information from Google, Yahoo, and Amazon is favorable, that overrides any disappointing
ClickBank results.

Repeat this process on http://www.CJ.com and http://www.PayDotCom.com

                                                                                         Page 16

The 4 golden rules to follow when selecting a target audience…

Once you have found a target market that you are comfortable with, it’s time to run your idea
through my 4-step market research filter. Here are the four questions you must ask yourself
before proceeding to the next phase of your micro-membership…

   1. Is your audience accustomed to spending money?

Your audience must be accustomed to spending money. In other words you should be
able to find a history of purchases in that market. Are there existing products being
      sold to your audience?

   2. Can you offer them multiple products?

If your niche is too “narrow”, you will be limited as to what products you can offer your
audience. This is a red flag.

On the other hand… having a target “audience” allows you to tweak your concepts to
      appeal to a great market.

Example: If you’re an expert in “Ab Workouts”… you can diversify by creating micro-
memberships for various demographics such as women, men, post childbirth, etc.

   3. Are you attracted to, or an expert in that market?

Although not as critical, if you can meet both criteria, then selecting your micro-
      membership market is a no-brainer ☺

   4. What is your level of expertise?

Your specific level of expertise will govern how broad or narrow your audience will be.

If you have limited expertise and are simply looking to create revenue streams, then
you should consider a broader approach.

      Example: Weight Loss 101

                                                                                            Page 17
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

However, if you are a “guru” then you can narrow it down a little further and target a
specific demographic based on your experience and knowledge.

      Example: Weight Loss For Teenagers

Let’s take a look at a case study about market selection and evaluation…

In this example, I’m going to use my real estate target market and work it through the 4
steps.

Is your audience accustomed to spending money?

Ok, there are basically 2 steps to complete here… Firstly, you want to make sure that people
are advertising digital products on Google.

The reason I do this is quite simply if people are to spend money advertising their products,
then there must be demand for it.

As you can see from the image below, that yes, we pass the first step.

                                                                                         Page 18
                                   The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Our next test involves doing a search on Clickbank.com, where we can see there that are
many digital products available for sale about real estate. So far… so good.

Can you offer them multiple products?

The following image is a screenshot from my real estate investing blog, and all the various
categories that I post under.

I’ve included it in this case study to illustrate the various topics which I can use to create
various, “related” micro-membership sites.

                                                                                             Page 19
                               The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

So here’s how my micro-membership business blueprint would look like…

                                                                        Page 20
                                   The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

What is your level of expertise?

In this instance, I have strong background in real estate investing, and my first products were
about real estate. Therefore, this market was a no-brainer for me.

Before you start stressing about not being an expert in a specific field, don’t worry. I have 3
micro-membership site running in markets that I am, well let’s say, “unfamiliar with. And I’ll
show you how you can do that to.

If you still have no clue where to start, here’s a partial list of topics to choose from that have
high marketability factors:

       • Making money

       • Investing money

       • Saving money (on consumer purchases)

       • Starting a business (online or offline)

       • Running a profitable web site

       • Dieting and weight loss

       • Time management

       • Relationships and dating

       • Working from home

       • Parenting

       • Home schooling

Note that I did not include internet marketing. The reason for this is that it is a very
competitive and over-saturated market to work in. My suggestion is for you to start your
micro-memberships outside of the internet marketing niche.

                                                                                             Page 21

Day 2: Name Your Micro-Membership Program

Before we begin working on your first micro-membership blueprint, I want to explain a
concept that is so important that I want you to read, then read it over again, until it sink’s in….

When people are looking for “information” on the internet, they already know what they want
and have a pretty good idea of how to get it.

What they are looking for is someone who can show them how to get from where they
are to where they want to be with the least amount of pain and aggravation.

Now, if you want to know how to satisfy that need, the battle has been won before it began.

In other words: Be a guide -- not a map… They know what they need to do and
now they want someone to show them how to do it. And that someone is YOU.

To make money with a micro-membership, you need to determine if your topic can be the
“guide” for your target audience. Once you have done this, it will be so easy to map out your
micro-membership blueprint.

The first step is to carefully analyze your niche and membership subject. Here are a list of
questions to answer before proceeding to the next step:

   1. Can it be broken down and delivered in “chunks” or installments?

   2. Can it transform your reader’s life from Point A to Point B then Point C?

   3. Can you create a “graduation” program (more about this later)?

   4. Can you add assignments to be completed at the end of each lesson / step?

Whilst there are many popular markets and niches, you must realize that not all of them will
suit a micro-membership format. Ideally, your chosen topic must be able to be taught in
stages. Always keep in mind that your member is looking for a solution to their problem.

Naming Your Micro-Membership Program…

When brainstorming a name for your membership, the key is to try and summarize the
program into an “end” benefit for your client. In other words…

How will their life be transformed a as result of subscribing to your program?

                                                                                            Page 22
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

I have listed a few examples below to illustrate the “benefit” factor:

Examples…

   • Your First Year of Motherhood

   • Weight Loss the Easy Way

   • How to Be Healthy All Year

   • The Weekly Guide to Money Matters

   • How to Achieve Spiritual Well-being

   • How to Increase Your Business Profits

Ok, so hopefully you get the idea. Getting back to our case study, let’s see how this method is
applied to both the program name, and the sub-title…

In the first example, you’ll notice the use of the words “rapid fire” which suggest a quick
result. The program is of course, about blog traffic.

You’ll also note that in the sub-title of the program, I make a big promise to show them how
to set up a blog in 24 hours or less.

Now, here’s a hint…

If you can offer a specific result or outcome, and do it within a specified period of, then you
have yourself an extremely powerful name for your micro-membership.

                                                                                              Page 23
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 3: Gathering Content Ideas

Unlike “single” sale products such as eBooks, membership sites require you to create fresh
content monthly, if not weekly… or even daily.

Your content is your product. This is the information people will pay you to receive. You must
offer high quality information on your topic that would be otherwise unavailable without
purchasing your product or a similar competitive product.

                                                                                         Page 24
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 4: Register your domain name
Finding a domain name doesn’t have to be as hard as it sounds. A lot of times people will sit
there for hours upon hours and lose a lot of time and end up finding a domain name that
might not actually fit them.

Now there are two resources that I’m going to share with you (that I use) and they are
www.namecheap.com. Namecheap are well priced, and they’ve got great customer service
and I’ve been with them for over five years. However, you can also use other services like
godaddy.com.

Domain Name Brainstorming

One method that most people tend to use, is to think of a list of domain names off the top of
their heads and they type it in the search box and see whether it’s available or not. You can
do that if you want, but most of the times I find that you tend to waste a lot of time.

One great way to save a ton of time when researching domain names is to use a site called
www.domaintools.com. They have a really cool little tool you can use called the “Suggestions
Tool”.

You simply “click” on the “suggestions tab, and then type in a few words that are related to
your market or topic. In this example, I’ve typed in “build mucle”…

                                                                                         Page 25
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

As you can see from the following list, you now have quite a few alternatives to choose from.

The next step is to find a reliable web hosting service for hosting your blog.
Just like selecting a domain name, the process is much easier than it sounds, but at the same
time there are a few things that you need to look out for. Do they have good customer
service?

I use Bluehost because of my long relationship with them. But, HostGator.com is another
industry leader for low-cost, quality hosting.

What to look for in a web hosting company…

Here are the main things that you need to look out for:

Do they have 98-99% uptime?

                                                                                        Page 26
                                The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

No host out there is going to have 100% uptime because at all times when they’re upgrading
servers and things like that, servers will go down.

But you don’t want somebody who has 75% or 80% uptime that means that their server is
going down 20% of the time, or 30% of the time.

Do they have responsive customer support?

This is very important. If they’re not responsive and the server goes down, then your website
will be down for hours and hours. For responsive customer support, you can test that by
emailing the support, or sales support, ahead of time before you purchase the package, that’s
a good way to gauge whether they have responsive customer support or not.

Is it a realistic package?

In my experience the companies that promise you unlimited things they are the ones that are
overselling. Overselling means that too many people are getting on to their servers and their
servers will eventually crash too many times.

So stay away from companies who oversell, don’t have a realistic package, realistic meaning
that they’ll tell you what you’ll get.

                                                                                        Page 27
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 5: Duration, Format and Price

Here are the four questions to answer:

How long will your program last for…

      - 90 days?

      - 6 months?

      - 12 months?

What delivery medium will you use…

      - PDF? Easiest way
      - PDF & Audio? Higher perceived value
      - Monthly Q&A calls? Great way to gather research and get paid ☺
      - All of the above?

How often will lesson be delivered…

      - weekly?
      - Every 2 weeks?
      - Daily?
      - Monthly?

How much will you charge?

- This will depend on your market, as well as how much value you deliver

- Can range from $10 per month to $49 per month

                                                                           Page 28
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 6: Plan Your Curriculum And Topics…

KEY FACTORS: Turn your topic titles into major benefit statements.

Step 1: Tell them what the topic is about

Step 1: Tell them how they will benefit, or what they will learn from the content.

Once again, let me refer back to my Real Estate micro-membership program as an example…

Case Study: My Real Estate Cash Machine …

Original topic: A Smarter Way To Invest

New title: Strike It Rich In Your Real Estate Niche
Learn how to make up to 163% returns in real estate.

Original topic: Select The Correct Property In The Correct Neighborhood

New: How To See Cash When Others See Trash
Know exactly which type of property to buy… and where to buy it.

As you can see from the above examples, I’ve gone from a statement to a benefit.

Ok, so once you’ve turned your topics into benefits, it’s time to organize them into a delivery
schedule…

How to Create Your Program Outline…

Arrange your topics into 12 to 52 implementation steps (depending on the length of your
micro-membership program). Use and adjust the following blueprint to create your outline…

Month 1: _____________________________

       Topic 1: ______________________________

                                                                                           Page 29
                          The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

    Topic 2: ______________________________

    Topic 3: ______________________________

    Topic 4: ______________________________

Month 2: _____________________________

    Topic 1: ______________________________

    Topic 2: ______________________________

    Topic 3: ______________________________

    Topic 4: ______________________________

Month 3: _____________________________

    Topic 1: ______________________________

    Topic 2: ______________________________

    Topic 3: ______________________________

    Topic 4: ______________________________

Month 4: _____________________________

    Topic 1: ______________________________

    Topic 2: ______________________________

    Topic 3: ______________________________

    Topic 4: ______________________________

                                                              Page 30
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Create Your Delivery Schedule…

Once again, this is a very easy task to complete. If you have done your research correctly,
then your list of topics should already be in sequence. All that you need to do now is to create
a basic spreadsheet such as the one illustrated below and enter the relevant details.

                                                                                         Page 31
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 7: Module Structure

Once you have created your outline, your next step is to “structure” the program. The
“structure” I am referring to is the way in which you deliver your content (sequential or tips
etc).

There are many ways for you to do this, and ultimately, it’s your decision as to how you
structure your specific program.

Regardless of how you do it, I’d like to suggest a few “rules” for you to follow in order to keep
your members active, as well as subscribed for the entirety of your micro-membership
program.

Lesson 1:

The first lesson should provide the member with an overview of the program. This is the “tell
‘em what you’re gonna tell ‘em” part of the membership, and should include:

      Welcome message

      How the membership works

The benefits they’ll get from completing the program…

An overview of all the steps they’ll cover in the program

Lesson 2 onwards:

There are many ways for you to do this, and ultimately, it’s your decision as to how you
structure your program.

Depending on your preferred content delivery formula, you can either create some “quick
start” lessons within the first four weeks, then expand on them in subsequent lessons… or you
can dive directly into the main content.

Key points:

Regardless of structure, always give them a preview of the upcoming lessons in lesson
1, so they have a full understanding of what’s going to happen.

                                                                                           Page 32
                          The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Giving them “quick start” lessons for “preparation” lessons will give members a greater
sense of accomplishment, and will therefore encourage them to continue.

                                                                                  Page 33
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 8: Create Your First Module…

Regardless of your overall topic, the one thing to remember is that you must provide
specialized information, coaching, or a service that is hard, if not impossible, to find
anywhere else.

You want your visitors to clearly see the value in your subscription service, so the more
exclusive your content and material is, the higher perceived value it will have (and the
more you will be able to charge for access).

Creating your lesson isn’t as difficult as it first appears. To do this, we can adapt our outline
blueprint as follows:

       Topic 1: __________________________

       Foreword: ______________________________

       Introduction: ______________________________

       Main content: ______________________________

       Summary: ______________________________

       Activities: ______________________________

       Stay tuned: ______________________________

Now let’s take a closer look at each one…

   1. The Foreword: Having a foreword is optional, but if you are delivering your lessons
via pdf then I recommend that you spend a few minutes to include it. The main reason
is that you should use it to “personalize” the lesson…

   2. The Introduction: The lesson introduction provides the member with an overview of
the lesson content (much the same as a book introduction) and explains what they’ll
      learn from the lesson.

                                                                                             Page 34
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

   3. The Content: This is the main part of the lesson where you deliver the content /
      topics.

   4. Activities: This is where you list the activities that the member will be required to
action in order to get the most benefit from the lesson.

   5. Stay Tuned: At the very end of any type of content you give your members, it’s
always a good idea to tell them what’s coming up next and create some “anticipation”.

Outsourcing Content for Your Membership

There are essentially two ways to source content:

   1. Hire a ghostwriter (outsource)

   2. Invest in PLR content

Option 1: Hire a Ghostwriter…

There are 2 reasons why you should consider hiring a ghostwriter…

1. You don’t have enough time.

2. You don’t know how to write.

Ghostwriters are freelancers who will write your content for you in return for a fee.
Over the past 5 years, they have become one of the most indispensible members of
any online business.

Just think about the advantages…

Ghostwriters allow you to better leverage your time. With only a limited number
of available hours in any given day, hiring a ghostwriter allows you to focus on
tasks which will build your membership list.

Depending on how much you value your time on an hourly basis, ghostwrites
may provide a more affordable option for having your content created. For

                                                                                          Page 35
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

example, let’s say you value your time at $30 per hour.

You might find a good writer for only $20 per hour. Therefore it would make
sense to hire the writer, instead of writing the content yourself.

A good ghostwriter will reduce the time you spend writing, rewriting and editing
your content, and they will also save you a ton of time on researching.

As with any outsourcing project, there are a few disadvantages as well as pitfalls for
the uninitiated. The following points are based on my experiences with ghostwriters…

Ghostwriters can be very “hit and miss”. Many freelance writers are usually self-
employed people who operate their business on a part-time basis for some extra
      cash.

Therefore, what appears to be a good writer today might not be there tomorrow,
due to a change in their circumstances.

It can be extremely time consuming to find a good writer who fully understands
your needs. Unreliability = wasted time.

Due to the surge in demand for ghostwriters, the very best are no longer as
      affordable as they once were.

That’s not to say that quality writers aren’t worth the investment, but they tend
to be prohibitively expensive for most people… especially anyone just starting
      out in their online business.

Option2: Private Label Rights…

Starting a membership site using PLR content is another option that will save you countless
hours of writing (or countless dollars having the content written for you). And since the
content is already pre-written, PLR can give you a leg up quickly.

Private Label Rights is a type of affordable content that, once purchased, allows you to reuse
that content as your own. Although every publisher gives different rights with their content,

                                                                                         Page 36
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

you are usually able to rewrite it, add your name, divide it up and sometimes even publish it
as is. PLR content includes:

       Articles
       Audio MP3’s
       Videos
       Ebooks and reports

The PLR advantages…

   • The majority of content is created by experts and sold with reprint licenses to a limited
       number of people.

   • You get to edit, rewrite and brand the content… without paying any royalties to the
       writer or publisher.

   • You keep 100% of the profits that you make from your membership site.

   • PLR content makes content creation easy, and gives you immediate access to content
       on a regular basis.

   • PLR content is extremely affordable as opposed to hiring a ghostwriter. You only pay
approximately 10% of what a ghostwriter would charge you.

   • The majority of PLR content is written by experts who have great knowledge in their
       niches.

The bottom line is that PLR is the hands down quickest way to get unique content for your
micro-membership for pennies on the dollar and is a perfect fit for…

   • Fixed Term Memberships
   • Micro Memberships
   • Micro Continuity Programs
   • Large scale membership programs

Once again, using PLR does have some pitfalls, so let’s take a quick look at these…

   • Firstly, the content less exclusive than having custom content written for you by a
ghostwriter. This means that there will be others who have access to the same

                                                                                             Page 37
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

content, and therefore, the more competition you have for “uniqueness”.

   • That lack of uniqueness also extends to the fact that the content does not have your
“voice” attached to it. Therefore, I highly recommend that you edit and personalize the
       content as much as possible.

   • Subscriptions to PLR content sites generally means that you’ll end up paying for
“unrelated” content that has nothing to do with your market.

You can however find a few sites that cater for specific niches. Simply search Google
for “(insert your market) private label rights content”.

   • Sadly, there is a flood of regurgitated products available for sale. Many sellers of PLR
content promote as a way for internet marketers to make a quick buck by repackaging
the content and reselling it for a profit.

However, because PLR content is affordable, you’ll quickly find out if you have duplicate
content, and you can easily unsubscribe or get a full refund.

   • Finally, beware of poorly written content from non-English speaking writers.

The following examples are two of my micro-membership sites created purely from PLR
content… with minimum editorial input from me.

HINT: If you decide to take the PLR option, I suggest that you look at buying ebooks that give
you the full rights to edit them, as opposed to a collection of articles.

These 2 sites have been created from taking PLR ebooks and dividing them into smaller
modules…

                                                                                          Page 38

More PLR content leverage…

Apart from the advantages stated, there are also many other time saving benefits to be gained
from PLR content when it comes to creating marketing and promotional tools for your micro-
membership sites.

You can also repurpose the content to create:

   1. Create lead-generation reports.

   2. Create traffic generation reports.

   3. Create an autoresponder mini-course.

   4. Create an ebook and submit to ebook directories.

   5. Create a bonus product and recruit affiliates to promote your site for you.

                                                                                       Page 39

Day 9: Create Your Micro-Membership Website

Now you need to build a website. There was a time back in the distant past when you only
those who were technically inclined and HTML literate could build a website but that is just
simply no longer the case.

As mentioned in the introduction, the key to micro-membership success is the speed of launch.
In keeping with that theme, we are going to avoid and fancy scripts and websites… and focus
on creating a simple, inexpensive “bare bones” website.

What are the components of a successful micro-membership web site? Most micro-
membership websites are only 1-5 pages. The following is a guide for creating a web site that
is fully functional, easy to use, and most important: sells your micro-membership program.

      • The Landing Page. This is the “front page” of your web site; the one visitors
surfing the internet will open when they click on your link in a search engine.
Basically, it will take the form of a name-capture page.

The main purpose of the landing page is to get subscribers for your opt-in list—focus
more on what visitors can get for free, rather than what they can buy.

                                                                                          Page 40
                         The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

• The Sales Page. This is the page you will link to from within your autoresponder
messages, from which people will actually purchase your product through a shopping
  cart system or PayPal link.

Depending on the type of web site host you choose, you may have a shopping cart
system integrated into the page. The product page can contain testimonials, cover
graphics, and/or “teasers” about the benefits of joining your program.

• The Confirmation Page. When setting up a micro-membership website, you need
to transfer your subscribers from your opt-in campaign (more about this in Step 10)
and onto your paid members campaign. Therefore you will have to create what we
  call a “confirmation” page.

The main purpose of this page is to give members another opt-in form to complete.
The easiest way to ensure that they follow the required steps is to create this page
as part of the order finalization process.

                                                                                 Page 41
                         The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

• The Download Page. This is the final page of the process, where members can
  access their content.

You will need to create duplicate download pages for each piece of content that you
intend to deliver. Therefore, if your micro-membership has a 20 week duration, then
you’ll eventually need to create 20 download pages. Once again, this will be
explained in detail in Step 10.

                                                                               Page 42
                                The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Finally, you should also include a “Terms and Disclaimer” page as well as a “Contact Us” page.

                                                                                        Page 43

Days 10: Write Your Sales Letter

Now that you have your topic, you’ve researched your market, and you have set up your
domain, hosting and email delivery service… you’re ready to put together the other crucial
component of your successful micro-membership program: your sales letter.

Learning to write good sales copy isn’t something you can learn by reading a quick tutorial – it
takes practice. Although you probably won’t turn into a world-famous copywriter overnight,
there are a few tips you can use to increase the response from your sales letters.

The Pre-Head

Your pre-head sets the stage for the reader. It serves 2 purposes:
1. It gets the reader’s attention
2. It introduces an idea.

The Main Headline

Your main headline MUST contain your biggest benefit.

When creating your headline, you should answer the following 3 questions:

1. What’s the best reason why they should buy your product?

2. What is the most desirable outcome that your customer is looking for?

3. What is most beneficial about your product?

Main Headline Tips:

Be as specific as possible (lose 24 pounds)
Give a time frame for the outcome (in 21 days)
Use picture words (it’s not ‘losing weight’… it’s ‘losing unwanted and ugly fat’)
Do not use slogans, play on words, or jokes.

The Post Headline

The Post Headline adds emphasis to your main headline, and also bridges the gap between
the headline and body copy.

                                                                                          Page 44

The Salutation

Form The Desk Of: _______________
Date: ______________
RE: ____________________
Dear ______________,

The Opening

 State the problem
 Create motivation
 Begin with a question
 Begin with a statement
 Begin with a story

TIP: Whichever method you select, you must remind the reader of their problems
and agitate them (motivate them) into reading further for the solution.

                                                                          Page 45
                                The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Introduce the solution

Once you have stated the problem, the next step is to introduce the solution (your product)
and explain how it will benefit the reader!

                                                                                        Page 46
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Introduce the product and benefits

The next step after introducing the solution is to explain the many benefits to your reader, and
what it will do for them.

                                                                                         Page 47
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Justify the price

Part of the process to creating an “irresistible offer” is to offer tremendous value at a special
price. Therefore, in order to maintain credibility with your reader, you must be able to justify
why you are offering such an amazing deal.

This is a 3-step process…

   1. Reinforce the exclusiveness and value of your product.

   2. Offer the product at an incredible price (investment) to make the offer amazing value.

   3. Justify why they are receiving such an enormous offer.

                                                                                            Page 48
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Remove any doubt from the reader’s mind

Risk-reversal is the ultimate way to remove any remaining barriers between your reader and
their decision to purchase from you. Make it clear that they will have absolutely nothing to
risk by purchasing your product.

The “Call to action”
Now it’s time to get your reader to “click” the order button.

                                                                                        Page 49
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

The “P.S”
Sometimes (usually), most readers will scroll to the bottom of your page to find out the price.
Therefore, it is always wise to include a “P.S” section at the end of your letter.

                                                                                          Page 50

Day 11: Payment Processor

There are several programs that will benefit you as an internet marketer. Here are the top
three programs you should consider signing up with before you launch your micro-membership
program:

PayPal

If you’ve ever done online shopping, you know most web sites with something to sell will
accept credit cards, and you’ve probably heard of PayPal: it’s the largest online worldwide
money transfer service in existence. PayPal accounts are free to set up, and you can start
accepting money right away from customers. You can have PayPal issue you a check, or get
the funds deposited directly into your checking account.

PayPal merchant accounts allow you to accept credit card payments from your web site. You
pay a percentage of each transaction, from 1.9 to 2.9 percent, and your customers pay
nothing extra. You can adjust the price of your product to cover these fees, and a PayPal
account is far easier to set up than other shopping cart systems.

ClickBank

ClickBank is an internet marketing service that allows you to sell your product through their
web site—and also enables their 100,000+ affiliates to sell for you.

Setting up a ClickBank account costs a one-time $49.95 with no monthly fees, and like PayPal,
they take a small percentage of sales. However, you must set a commission price for sales
affiliates. Your profit per unit will be lower, but your sales volume will be much higher.

You can also enroll in ClickBank’s affiliate or reseller program and sell other people’s products
for a commission. This will enable you to receive multiple income streams from one source.

PayDotCom

PayDotcom is another internet marketing service very similar to Clickbank that offers online
entrepreneurs a greater flexibility when selling digital and physical products. It was created by
internet guru Mike Filsaime to overcome the limitations of ClickBank.

The main advantages it has over ClickBank are as follows:

                                                                                            Page 51
                           The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Setting up your first product is free

For a small “one off” fee, you can add unlimited products

Unlike ClickBank, PayDotCom allows you to set up duplicate products and offer different
commission rates to different affiliates.

PayDotCom let’s you set up a payment account for your product immediately, whereas
ClickBank has a lengthy approval process.

Finally, and this one is BIG… ClickBank mails you your commission checks every 2
weeks. On the other hand, PayDotCom uses Paypal to transact all sales, therefore you
get paid immediately!

                                                                                 Page 52
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Day 12: Set Up Your Email Delivery System

It’s very important that you are able to capture your visitor and member’s information
so that you can send follow up emails, promotions and alerts of when your website has
been updated or is offering a special offer.

List building is essential in communicating with your members and in maximizing subscriber
retention. The more frequently you communicate with your subscriber base with new
features, releases and updates, the more likely your members will remain active.

Therefore, the next step is to sign up for an autoresponder account at
www.GetResponse.com or www.Aweber.com

If you’ve ever asked for information online about a product or service or signed up for an e-list
or group membership on the Internet, and received a nearly instantaneous response in your e-
mail inbox, an autoresponder program was responsible for delivering the reply.

Simply put, autoresponders are e-mail programs that send out a preset message in response
to every incoming e-mail received.

Just about every Internet-based company uses autoresponders for a variety of purposes, from
automating tasks that would otherwise take up hundreds of man-hours to building lists and
tracking prospective leads.

Multiple autoresponders send a series of messages to received e-mail addresses on a
predetermined, timed basis. For instance, a multiple autoresponder can be used to send an
instant response, then a follow-up message three days later, then another five days after that,
and so on.

It can be programmed to send a message a day, one per week, twice monthly, or any interval
that satisfies the purpose of the message series.

Usually free autoresponder services include their own logo with each message you send and
the number of messages that you can send is also usually limited. A paid service doesn’t cost
that much so go with a paid service.

Autoresponders are the most powerful Internet marketing tools available. They are easy to
use, and once they’re set up the entire marketing process is automated and instant.

                                                                                          Page 53
                               The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

When you use autoresponders, your micro-membership site runs itself 24 hours a day.
Launching an effective autoresponder campaign can mean the difference between a struggling
membership program and a wildly successful one.

                                                                                    Page 54

Day 13: The Micro-Membership Launch Checklist

Congratulations on getting this far! By implementing the preceding steps, your very first micro-
membership site is ready to go. But before you launch, you’ll want to make sure that
everything is as it should be, and that it all works correctly.

In this step, I’m going to share my “launch” blueprint with you. Be sure to print out the
necessary pages and tick all the boxes one-by-one. If you get stuck along the way, do not
proceed to the next step until you have solved the problem.

To Do: Website

   □ Check the DNS (Domain name sever) and ensure that your domain is pointed to your
      hosting account

   □ Edit and proof your sales letter and website content

   □ Insert the links for downloading the modules into your download pages

   □ Create an “order confirmation” page with an opt-in form (make sure the form
unsubscribes customers from the lead generation autoresponder campaign)

   □ Ensure that you have uploaded your website through your hosting cpanel

   □ Set up your shopping cart / payment processor

To Do: Content Modules

   □ Edit the first 2 to 4 modules of content

   □ Save the edited MS Word modules in PDF format (you can do it free here
      pdfonline.com)

   □ Upload the modules through your hosting cPanel

   □ Check the download links for the modules on each of your download pages

To Do: Member Emails

                                                                                         Page 55
                               The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

  □ Create the first 2 to 4 member download emails

  □ Insert the links to the download pages into your thank you emails

  □ Upload emails into your autoresponder campaign for members (in sequence of delivery
     according to your content schedule)

  □ Test member’s emails and download links for each module

To Do: Test Purchase

  □ Run a test purchase transaction

  □ Check that your purchase is redirected to the confirmation page

  □ Fill out the confirmation form

  □ Check that you are redirected to the first module’s download page

  □ Check inbox for “thank you” email

                                                                                  Page 56

Day 14 (onwards): Generate Traffic to Your Website

When it comes to generating traffic, being a “Jack of all trades and master of none” is a
surefire recipe for failure. Ok?

Great, let’s move on…

Articles

You can write articles pertaining to your topic, or articles that contain some of the information
found in your product, and post them across the internet. Be sure the article contains useful
information that will pique readers’ interest and get them to want more.

Start out by submitting 3-5 articles every week, and before you know it, your article campaign
will generate consistent traffic to your squeeze pages. As you continue to expand on the
number or articles in circulation, you will be able to generate more traffic on a regular basis.

Mini e-courses / Free reports

Developing a mini-course—a shortened version of your full product—is a great way to increase
interest in potential buyers. When setting up a mini-course, break your product up into several
sections.

Give away a few secrets in each “lesson” email, but not all of them. Remind mini-course
subscribers that much more information can be found in the full version of your membership,
and include links to your sales page in each section. Plug your mini-course into your
autoresponder program and fire away!

Affiliate Programs

In order to jump-start your micro-membership site and power it up with fresh subscribers and
targeted traffic, you'll want to integrate an affiliate program into your website so that both
guests and members can earn commissions by referring new members to your program.

This is an exceptional method of generating fresh leads on a regular basis, while taking your
online business to a whole new level. There is no other method of maximizing exposure that
even comes close to what an active affiliate army can do for your business.

                                                                                            Page 57

You can find potential affiliates at:

www.Clickbank.com
www.Linkshare.com

Blogs

What is a blog? A blog is a sort of journal, published on the web. It allows the author to share
his / her views, thoughts, and insights with the world… as well as to share a passion for a
particular subject.

It gives people a chance to use the world as a sounding board for their emotions, thoughts,
and areas of expertise. They also offer readers the chance to bond with writers who think
similarly to them.

More importantly, they allow YOU to build an audience with prospective members of your
micro-membership, and long term customers.

Blog benefits…
   1. Allows you to reach a worldwide audience with the entire world.

Blogs have become a part of the internet technology craze and have become
exceedingly popular. They offer writers freedom of speech with an audience that is
        world wide.

   2. Allows you to build a following of “raving” fans.

Use your blog to provide valuable information that will help others… and watch them
        flock to your site ☺

   3. Allows you to create “Buzz” for your membership release.

You can announce that your micro-membership is on the way, as well as post
“snippets” from the program and invite comments and feedback from your audience.

   4. Allows you to build trust with your list via ongoing posts.

                                                                                          Page 58
                                 The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Every time you add a new post to your blog, notify your database. This keeps you in
      regular contact and builds trust.

   5. Allows you to generate “free” traffic to your websites.

Bottom line: Search engines LOVE blogs!

By frequently publishing contents for the blog, the search engine spiders visit more often. The
result is that the blog can have more pages being sent over the search engines.

The key to blogging is to update regularly, as just creating a blog and having no updates or
content is useless. You need to update your blog several times per week to really reap the
benefits.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Campaigns

When it comes to advertising squeeze pages with PPC, things can get a bit tricky. Since PPC
campaigns can be quite costly, if not constructed properly, you could end up spending a lot of
money for little results.

Pay-per-click ad campaigns bring visitors to your landing page by advertising your site on
strategic points on the front search results page of keywords related to your topic.

The term “pay-per-click” refers to the way you pay for the ads: a certain amount is deducted
from your account—the money you put in to fund the campaign—each time someone clicks on
your link. The most popular PPC program is Google AdWords; basically, though, all PPC
campaigns work the same way.

Just make sure that you monitor your results and pay special attention to your costs, versus
your overall profitability from your list to ensure that it's feasible to continue with your
campaigns.

Press Releases

Press releases are often overlooked as a marketing tool but press release submission can be a
potent, powerful tool for promoting your web site.

Press releases don't cost much to create and can be widely submitted for free or little charge.

                                                                                          Page 59
                                  The Lazy-Ass Membership Blueprint

Your press releases can include your web site URL so if it gets picked up and published on the
internet you’ll not only get the added exposure, but you'll get back links to your site as well –
can help boost your search engine ranking.

The site that seems to get the best results for your online press releases is PRWeb. They've
also got great information on how to create and use press releases in their tools and tips
section.

PRWeb's lowest priced press release is $80 – a fair price for the service but it could be a bit
more than you may be willing to invest.

If so, the next best alternative is WebWire. Their WebPosts are just $19. You won't get quite
the distribution you'd get with PRWeb, but it works very will for new sites that are starting up
on a shoestring.

                                                                                            Page 60

Updating Your Membership Website

Unlike a “traditional” membership model, updating your micro-membership program is
very straight forward and easy to do. In fact, once your content is created, your
program switches to auto-pilot.

If you have followed and applied the preceding steps, your first micro-continuity site
will be ready to launch, and your first 2 to 4 modules of content will have been created
and uploaded to your website.

Now, it is critical to remember that two of the biggest benefits of a micro-membership
program are the speed of launch and the fact that you can begin getting paid before all
of the modules are completed. Therefore, once the first 2 to 4 modules are completed,
I strongly urge you to launch your program.

The reasons for this are that firstly, you will need to start spending more time on
promotion than content creation, and secondly, you can start reinvesting your profits
into outsourcing your content as well as more paid advertising.

With that said, I’m going to show you a simple step-by-step plan to follow moving
forward…

The updating of your website simply involves the following steps…

   1. Create 1 module per week.

   2. Create a duplicate download page which includes the next module’s title, and the
      download links.

   3. Upload the module and the download page to your server.

   4. Create a notification email for your members with the link to the download page,
as well as a brief description of the module… and then upload to your
      autoresponder service in correct sequence.

                                                                                  Page 61

   5. Repeat the above steps until all your modules, emails and download pages are
      complete.

   6. Once your content, emails and web pages are finished… that’s it! Your micro-
membership is now on auto-pilot. If anything changes in relation to your content
such as laws etc, all you need to do is update the relevant module and replace
      the original one.

   7. If time allows, you can ramp this up to 2 or 3 per week and move on to your
      next micro-membership program.

So there you have it. Your first micro-membership ready to go!

Before we jump into promoting the site, I want to quickly touch on something which is
extremely important to your success: Time management.

The truth is that creating the micro-membership is only half the challenge. Your goal from
here on in is to take off your “product creation” hat and put on your “marketing” hat.

What this means in laymen’s terms is that it’s now time to focus on “money making” activities
that will enable you to actively promote your program.

Bottom line: Don’t spend the majority of your day creating modules. Just get it going and add
content on a weekly basis. This approach is far less stressful, and will ensure that you’re
completing those “money making” tasks on a regular basis.

                                                                                        Page 62
