									PASSPORT RENEWAL AND REGISTRATION OF NEWBORN BABY

For all in-person registration, appointment must be made beforehand.
Appointment day is normally on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, depending
on whether or not the officer is available.

If you renew / register in-person, payment can be made by cash. You have to
be at the High Commission, Canberra before 10.30 am and your passport will
be ready on the same day after 4.00 pm.

If you are applying for both Birth Certificate AND Passport for your baby, you
will only get the birth certificate (Borang W) on the same day. The baby’s
passport will be posted to you later (self-addressed envelope is needed). This
is because they cannot process both documents on the same day.

All copies including photographs MUST be certified by (Authorized Person: a
Consul in Malaysia Consulate or High Commission or a Justice of Peace or a
Police Officer) in Australia, in the case that any of documents required above
are in Malaysia, they MUST be certified by Malaysian Justice of Peace or
Notary public or Commissioner of Oath in Malaysia.

Note: Remember to notify DIMIA regarding your new passport detail and
update your Visa.



A. Baby registration:

   To obtain birth certificate from the Malaysian Government while you are in
   Australia, the birth of the baby must first be registered with the Malaysian
   High Commission in Canberra, in order to do that the applicant needs to
   produce the following:Completed and signed application form
   downloadable from JPN website:
   http://www.jpn.gov.my/borangJPN.WN02C.pdf.

   1. Child’s Australian birth certificate
   2. 3 Recent passport standard sized photographs of the baby (white or
      light blue background).
   3. 2 Copies of Malaysian marriage certificate ( if you have Australian
      marriage certificate, it is compulsory to register your marriage with
      Malaysian High Commission).
   4. 2 Copies of both parents' birth certificates.
   5. 2 Copies of the front and the back of father's IC.
   6. 2 Copies of the front and the back of mother's IC (if Malaysian).
   7. 2 Copies of both parents' passports (ID part only).
   8. 2 Copies of both parents' Australia Visas.
   9. Current certificate of resident status of the father, if applicable.
   10. The fee in money order or bank cheque ONLY, payable to Malaysia
      High Commission (fee changes every month, please check the current
      fee with Consulate or High Commission when you are about to lodge
      your application).
          o   You can pay by cash if you register in-person at the High
              Commission office in Canberra.
   11. Enclose A4 size self-addressed registered/express-post envelope for
      the return of the baby registration certificate and one self-address
      normal envelope with 50 cents stamp for acknowledgement of your
      application.




B. Passport renewal / registration:

In order to obtain a new passport, the applicant in Australia will need to
produce the following: Completed and signed application form downloadable
from immigration web: http://www.imi.gov.my/forms/Form_IM.42.pdf.

   1. Provide your contact phone number.
   2. The original passport and the copy of all used pages.
   3. 2 Passport standard sized photographs (white or light blue
      background), slot machine photographs are NOT acceptable.
   4. 2 Certified copies of the front and the back of IC.
   5. 2 Certified copies of the front and the back of father's IC (for applicant
      under the age of 18 only)
6. 2 Certified copies of birth certificate (this is required in the case that
   applicant holds any type of IC other than new electronic MyKad).
7. 2 Certified copies of Borang W (if born outside Malaysia).
8. Original Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status from Australian
   Immigration (if your passport has expired for more than one year).
9. The fee in money order or bank cheque ONLY, payable to Malaysia
   High Commission (fee changes every month, please check the current
   fee with Consulate or High Commission when you are about to lodge
   your application). Children under 12 years old will be charged 50% of
   the full fee.
10. Enclose 2 types of envelopes in your application: A4 size self-
   addressed registered/express-post envelope for the return of your
   passport and ordinary self addressed envelope with 50 cents stamp for
   acknowledgement letter.
