www.intertec-hess.com Installation and Operating Instructions for Heater CP MICROTHERM DNA… 1 Application 4 Connection CP MICROTHERM Heaters are manufactured in accordance with Directive 94/9EC (ATEX 100a) and are designed as finned heaters with heat transfer to the ambient air by natural convection. They are approved for use in Ex-zones 1 and 2 for explosion groups G/D in temperature classes T3 and T4. The standard version comprises an integrated room thermostat in the connection cable is designed for freeze protection applications or a protective thermostat for temperature maintenance. The EC Type Test Certificate Number is PTB 02 ATEX 1041 X. The heater must only by connected and secured by personnel technically qualified in accordance with the label specifications "rated voltage" and "rated current": If operating voltage = rated voltage, the heater will generate the specified nominal output, with an allowance to voltage fluctuations of up to 10 %. Circuit breakers (characteristics B) suitable for up to 16 A can be used for short circuit and line protection. A ground terminal is provided for the purpose of ensuring potential equalization. The terminal is marked as such. A residual-current-operated protective device with a rated value of not more than 300 mA, preferably 30 mA should be installed. 2 Technical Data Rated voltage Max. 250 V AC Permissible operating voltage Max. 265 V AC Special voltages are possible if the output power is adapted accordingly and the suitable components selected. Rated current (taking into Max. 10 A account VDE 0298) Ambient temperature - 50 to + 60 °C Max. permissible operatingtemperature range at - 50 to + 180 °C normal rating Installation position: fins vertical Switching capacity of thermostat 16 A/ 250 V AC TS and failure alarm 5 Initial Operation The heater can be switched on as soon as it is properly installed in accordance with the installation instructions specified in points 3 and 4, ensuring free convection at any time as well as the necessary clearances. A safety fuse will permanently open the circuit if the above installation and operating instructions are not followed. 6 Maintenance 3 Installation Take care not to bend or exert any load on the connection cable during the transportation or unpacking of the heater. To ensure effective convection, the heater should be installed in accordance with point 8 with the fins positioned vertically, and with special emphasis being placed on observing the necessary clearances to the bottom of the enclosure as well as to the instruments installed over the heater. Heater types without freeze protection thermostats in the connection cable may also be installed with an installation position turned through 180° (cable gland on top). Make sure to comply with the permissible operating temperature range. Before entry in the customer-supplied junction box, the cable must be firmly installed, observing the permissible bending radius of 5 times the outside cable diameter. Due to the type of construction, the heater requires no maintenance. Performance and safety tests can be conducted at intervals to be determined by the operator in compliance with current regulations. Repair work must only be carried out by the manufacturer. 7 Safety Instructions Installation of the heater in an exposed position involves a certain risk of injury, with especially the ends of the fins and hot surfaces posing a potential danger. • • • • Max. 160 °C with T3 heaters Max. 100 °C with T4 heaters Max. 70 °C with T5 heaters Max. 50 °C with T6 heaters HO640-6e-CP MICROTHERM-Operating instructions page 1/ 2 www.intertec-hess.com Installation and Operating Instructions for Heater CP MICROTHERM DNA… 8 Installation, Minimum Clearances 9 9.1 L1 N PE Wiring Diagramme MICROTHERM TS During installation, attention should be paid to the following: • The fins must be positioned vertically • Please note minimum clearances to the enclosure, as per 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 • The cable must be clearly legible e.g. in series with other failure alarms Ex Junction Box 8.1 MICROTHERM TS customer-supplied bn bu ye/gn bl gy TS ϑ> CP MICROTHERM... ϑ> ϑ< PA Option: AM Please note minimum clearances to the enclosure, as per 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 !
