Instructions for Measuring Line Segments
1. With the Selection Arrow Tool , select the two points your segment is in between. Once highlighted, go to the Measure menu and choose Distance. 2. You can also select the segment joining two points. When you then go to the Measure menu, you will need to choose Length.
a) You may wish to move the measurement box around and place it where it makes most sense. To do this, you must have the box highlighted. Use your selection arrow tool to pick up the textbox and move it to the best location.
b) In addition, you may want to change what appears in this text box. If so, you can select it (it will now have a pink background) and right click. Choose Properties and within the Label tab, type in what you want to appear on screen. A suitable name for a line segment connecting point A and B is AB.
c) Also under the Properties menu is an option to change the number of significant digits that appear in your label. This can be found in the Value tab. You can also open the Properties window by right clicking on the label.
