JOB TITLE: CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I
GENERAL DESCRIPTION Clerical work involving considerable contact with the general public in registering and processing title transfers for vehicles, mobile homes and boats; issuing hunting, fishing and business tax licenses; assisting in tax related work; conducting examinations for motor vehicle driving licensure and processing reports.
DUTIES Note: Depending on the assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below. Ability to perform the following, with or without a reasonable accommodation under the ADA: • Process title applications and transfers for vehicles, mobile homes and boats. Issue hunting, fishing and business tax licenses. • Administer written and vision examinations to driver license applicants. Grade examinations and inform applicant of results. • Collect and process payments for customer transactions. • Enter data into computer terminal. Assure that required forms, documents, signatures, etc. are present prior to completing transactions. Verify ID numbers and odometer readings. • Process affidavits, registrations and forms. Type title transfers, corrections, tag/decal replacements, correspondence, insurance letters and various permits. • Operate computer terminal/printer, validator, typewriter, calculator, photocopier, and other office equipment. • Operate a specialized camera and printer to produce color photograph driver license. • Balance cash drawer. • Assist the public in person, via telephone, mail or fax. • Restock workplace with forms, decals, license plates and other required items. • Process and examine daily reports. Verify accuracy and make necessary adjustments and corrections. Enter daily data into computer. • Open and sort mail. • Research tax information and legal descriptions.

• Receive current and delinquent tax payments. • Assist other departments, offices and governmental agencies as required. • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly workplace/office. • Perform related work as required. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of: • Modern office methods and procedures. Ability to perform the following, with or without a reasonable accommodation under the ADA: • Learn office policies and the laws, regulations, practices and procedures relating to the unit. • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. • Maintain records and prepare reports. • Make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy. • Operate a typewriter, calculator and computer terminal with speed and accuracy. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public and other Governmental agencies. • Communicate effectively with others, including members of the public and other staff, in written and oral form. • Read for comprehension.
PHYSICAL SKILLS Ability to perform the following, with or without a reasonable accommodation under the ADA: • Sit for extended periods of time. • Retrieve and distribute license plates, forms and related items. • Travel to and from vehicles; verify vehicle identification numbers and odometer readings. • Transport 40-lb. boxes of license plates to work area. ATTENDANCE • Current office hours are 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday and Thursday, and 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturdays. Employees typically work Saturdays on a rotation every 4 – 6 weeks. Unless otherwise assigned, regular employee work hours are 8:15 A.M. to 5:15 P.M. Overtime may be required both before and after regular work hours and sometimes on Saturdays. Office hours are subject to change.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. • One (1) year experience in customer service duties involving public contact preferred.

A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS • Valid Florida driver license required for advancement to higher level positions. Safe driving record preferred. Ability to: • Meet requirements for Notary Public Bond.
SPECIAL NOTE In accordance with Florida Statutes 322, a minimum age of 21 years is required for incumbents assigned to conduct driver license road examinations.
