                                   Job Description


General Statement of Duties:
This is a part-time position involving the performance of various maintenance and
custodial duties to Town public buildings and grounds (non-school).

Supervision Received:
Works under the administrative direction of the First Selectman.

Supervision Exercised:
May provide general supervision of outside contractors involved in the repair and/or
maintenance of Town buildings and grounds.

Examples of Duties:
  1.    General inspection of Town buildings and associated grounds on a regular
        basis to identify needed repairs and general maintenance.
  2.    General maintenance and repair to buildings including, but not limited to, light
        bulb/ballast replacement; installation of shelving and window treatments;
        repair of chairs, doors, windows and floor tile; assembly of furniture; painting;
        and, perform minor carpentry, electrical and plumbing work.
  3.    Provide bi-Annual inspection of gutters and coordination of repairs with
        Highway Department.
  4.    Minor plumbing repairs including plugged fixtures, leaking faucets, etc.
  5.    General exterior maintenance including planting, weeding, minor repairs to
        pool and associated equipment, and sign installation.
  6.    Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  1. General knowledge and experience in carpentry, electricity and plumbing.
  2. Ability to plan, organize and inspect the work of contractors.
  3. Considerable ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and
     contractors.

Qualifications:
At least five years related experience in the areas of carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
Must posses valid Connecticut driver’s license and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
