The attached list gives brief details of schools PPP projects in England as of
5 September 2005, categorised as follows:

FUNDING FOR PROJECTS

      DfES funding for projects is either in the form of:

1.    PFI Credits, which provide revenue support to LEAs to help meet private sector
      annual charges; and/or

2.    For Voluntary Aided schools only, also in the form of annual revenue grant to VA
      schools to meet private sector annual charges.




Project details are based on our best knowledge to date, but are subject to
change and may not be fully accurate in all respects.

This project is for one new additional secondary school (Jo Richardson Community
School) and for the refurbishment and expansion of the existing Eastbury Secondary
School. Both schools will have an extensive range of community facilities and Jo
Richardson School will also have a Joint Service Centre funded by £4.76 million in
PFI Credits from the ODPM. The contract was signed on 30 March 2004 with
Bouygues UK Ltd and full services will commence in September 2005.

was signed with Galliford Try in December 2003 and full services commenced in

This was a grouped refurbishment project involving a mixture of 10 primary and
secondary schools. The project addressed the backlog of repairs and maintenance,
which also included increasing the available accommodation at some sites. The
project was signed with Galliford in February 2000. The first handovers took place in
February 2001 followed by partial handovers in September 2001. All schools were
fully operational by July 2002.

This project rebuilt Castle Hill Primary School and provided a Learning Resources
Centre, offering facilities to the wider community. The contract was signed with
Melville Dundas on 12 April 2002 but this was subsequently taken over by Dawn
Construction in 2003. The school opened on 6 October 2003. This project is jointly
funded by DfES (£3.2 million) and ODPM (£6.9 million).

This project relocated the Jews Free School (JFS) from Camden to Brent. The new
school is larger, having had an increase of 500 places to make 2000. The contract
was signed with Jarvis Plc in January 2001 and the school opened in September
2002. The DfES contribution to this project was £9 million in PFI credits and £7.88
million in VA grant; with land sales and other capital contributions the total capital
value of the project was £41.563 million.

This project extended and refurbished 4 secondary schools and provided new
facilities for a community library and community association at Patcham. Additionally
Patcham Junior School had a new dining hall and a youth centre moved into the
former library premises. The contract was signed with Jarvis Projects on 7 March
2002 and the project became operational on 1 April 2003. The project was jointly
funded by DfES (£24.533 million) and ODPM (£467 000).

This is a redevelopment project which will rebuild Haverstock Secondary

 by 2007. The contract was signed with Kajima in October 2003 and the
school is scheduled for the first phase to open in October 2004 and for full
completion by September 2005.

contract was signed in October 2002 with the Eric Wright Group and the
project became operational in September 2003.

phase 1 of the project (main school buildings) with phase 2 (sports facilities
and other educational areas) following in 2006.

The key features of this project are: to create an "Education Village" to bring
together Houghton Secondary, Springfield Primary and Beaumont Hill Special

schools into one primary school. The contract was signed on 30 March 2004
with Kajima and full services commenced in September 2005.

& Brown Properties. The project became operational on 28 April 2003.

A Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) project rebuilt The Sir John
Colfox County Secondary School in Bridport. Dorset County Council and
Jarvis (Colfox) Ltd signed the PFI contract on 18 November 1997 and the new
school services started in September 1999.

(replacing Brentside High School). The contract was signed with Kajima on 18
 December 2002 and all schools should be fully operational by the end of
November 2004.

an innovative scheme in that it was procured jointly with the London Borough
of Newham. The contract was signed with Equion plc in September 2003 and
the scheme became fully operational in July 2005.

This was an innovative project as the LEA successfully reached contract
signature with Academy Services (Tendring) Ltd in October 2001, without the
benefit of PFI credits. The provider is a joint venture between the Kier Group
Plc and Dexia Public Finance Bank. The DfES contributed £1 million of NDS
grant towards the scheme. The project gaver new facilities at 12 primary
schools in NE Essex with a capital value of £14 million. The schools became
operational in phases from November 2002 to September 2004.

November 2003 and interim services commenced immediately. The project
became operational in September 2005.

project was initially led by the Funding Agency for Schools (FAS), who

signed in November 1998 between the school's Governors and Jarvis Plc.
The new school services started in September 1999.

The LEA signed a DBFO contract in July 1998 with the Sewell Group to build
and operate a new one-form entry primary school in the Victoria Dock
redevelopment area of the city. The Deputy Prime Minister officially opened the
 school on 29 January 1999. In January 2001 the school doubled in size to
meet parental demand, some three years ahead of original plans.

school was officially opened by the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State
for Education on 26 April 2005.

in March 2005 and the rest were completed by September 2005.

The Council signed a contract with Chartwells to provide all school meals from
Lewisham's 66 school kitchens for a 10-year contract period. The contract
also covered the provision of social services meals ("meals on wheels" etc)
and Town Hall catering. It involved extensive replacement of kitchen facilities.
 The contract was signed in February 1999 with services commencing
immediately afterwards.

schools in Pendle with 9 new build schools. Eight of the new builds will be procured
via PFI. One of the new builds will be a VA school which shall be conventionally
procured. This will be done in 3 phases, with phase 1 delivering 3 new schools
including a special school co-located with one of the secondary schools.

This project will rebuild Walbottle Campus Technology College. This is part of the
BSF programme for the replacement of eight secondary and two special schools.
The first stage of this procurement will also include the procurement of four primary,
one special and one secondary school through PFI (the Newcastle 2 – Six schools
project). The whole programme (including the schools from the previous PFI round)
will be arranged in one phase (in two parts) under a single procurement exercise.

This project constructed an indoor sports centre on the school grounds, which
 is also available for use by another special school. The private sector partner
 contributed capital and was granted a lease to operated the upgraded
facilities out of school hours. Prior to this construction, the school used to pay
 to rent indoor facilities. The project was signed with Uforia in August 2000
and became operational in April 2001.

This was a joint Parish Council/District Council/County scheme to rebuild
Foxton Primary School through a combination of funding sources, including the
 Millennium Lottery Fund. The private sector contribution was by way of a
capital receipt linked to planning permission for housing. The contract was
signed with Mills & Douglas in March 2000 and became operational in March
2001.

Sherman & Co (Ealing) Ltd in March 2000 and the accommodation was handed
 over in October 2000.

an athletics track, sports hall, dance studio and gymnasium to be shared with
other local schools and the wider community. The contract was signed
between the school and Canterbury Sports Ltd on 27 June 2000 and
completed in September 2001.

This project provided a library extension and a new-build technology room. It
was financed by a mixture of NDS grant, private sector capital injection, PTA
fundraising and LEA funding. The private sector funding was provided by the
school's uniform supplier, which benefits from a franchise arrangement with
the school. The project became operational in September 1999.

Wright Group. The sports facilities opened in September 2002.

This project provided a basketball sports hall with a fitness suite and
associated teaching rooms, along with 10 all-weather pitches. Management
and Operating Agreements between the Council, the School, Short-Sided
Soccer and Trafford Basketball Centre were signed on 13 July 2001. Work on
 site was completed in May 2002.

This project completed the rebuilding of the school. The private sector partner
invested professional time in the project as well as a capital contribution and
has worked with the LEA and school to build on programmes to raise
educational standards. The private sector partner sees its benefit coming
from a better-educated local workforce, which will assist its plans for
expansion. The contract was signed with Mount Avril in October 1999 and the
 school was fully operational in September 2000.

LEA funding financed this project. The private sector gain is through the use
of facilities out of school hours. The contract was signed with Keynote
Recording Studios in November 1997 and all work was completed by
September 1998.
