JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Technology Teacher – Moshi Campus
Main purpose of job: in the spirit of the philosophy and objectives of ISM to take responsibility for the education of students in the school. The postholder is responsible through the appropriate Head of Campus to the CEO of ISM. Specific responsibilities:

teach secondary classes as assigned and to work in consultation with the Curriculum Coordinators, Head of Secondary and Head of Campus in the development and fulfillment of the curriculum goals of the school; be knowledgeable and conversant about the IB MYP, Diploma programmes at ISM; take responsibility for a specific curriculum area as arranged with the Head of Campus; supervise CAS activities, field trips, outdoor pursuits trips and sports activities as required and mutually agreed upon; such duties are expected as part of the total work load; act as tutor to a group of students under the direction of the Head of Secondary, and take responsibility for the welfare and pastoral activities of these students; be available and actively engaged with students during Guidance Hour and at other reasonable times to assist students with their work; assist by covering for absent teachers when requested by the Head of Campus; attend meetings and contribute to assessments as required by the Head of Secondary, Head of Campus or CEO; maintain files and registers as required by the Head of Secondary and Head of Campus; in particular a record of textbooks and other equipment on issue to students, record of marks and grades for all assignments and tests and a copy of all major tests, a cumulative record file for each student as required; maintain records as required by the Head of Secondary or Head of Campus; in particular an outline prepared at the beginning of each term of the goals for the term, areas of curriculum to be covered (a written course syllabus), lesson plans and a listing of the books and other resources to be used, a record at the end of each term of the material taught in each subject including a brief assessment of any special problems or situations that may have arisen; submit any files and records to the Head of Secondary in the required format at the end of each term; actively participate in the curriculum review cycle and the accreditation process; be responsible for the ordering and care of resources needed for teaching in the specific subject area; maintain an attractive, tidy and productive learning environment in and around the classroom, including the effective use of display areas; liaise with appropriate subject teachers on the other campus so as to ensure parallel curricular objectives, scope and sequence; assist and support other teachers in the school in a professional collegial manner; write reports and assessments in a timely fashion as requested by the Head of Campus; participate in regular appraisal conducted by the Head of Secondary or other designated person; above all to promote the welfare of the students at all times in the best interests of the school; be present and fully engaged for the Orientation Week program at the start of the school year, and also two full days before the beginning of each term and at the end of the term until all duties are satisfactorily completed.

be responsible for the ordering, care and management of resources used in these teaching areas. monitor their activities of support staff working for IT in the school, such as the IT Technician and two or three IT assistants: • ensure they support IT throughout the school including in classrooms, boarding houses and in offices; • work closely with them on a day-to-day basis; • advise them if it is felt that things should be done in a different way or follow up the matter with the Heads of Primary or Secondary or with the Head of Campus. • assist or advise them with routine tasks such as installation of software and updates, ensuring all computers have current virus protection and firewall, having an effective sign-out system for laptops, projectors, cameras and other equipment, and ensuring batteries on equipment are charged. possess a working knowledge of the Moshi Campus network and systems so as to identify locations of possible faults if they occur; possess a basic understanding of the router/firewall so as to manage routine internet access issues and advise or assist the technician and others with maintaining these systems; develop a basic understanding of the network and IT infrastructure, so as to assist with routine maintenance at times when the IT technician may be unable to do so or may not be available; understand the operating system on the file server so as to add/delete/monitor users and manage file access when the IT technician is unable to do so; advise the school and teachers on how to develop, maintain and use our technological resources appropriately; take a leading role in the management of IT throughout the school. carry out any other duties as the CEO or Head of Campus may reasonably assign.
