Part-time Position (Monday – Friday with some evening and weekends)
REPORTS TO: Director of Residence Life
SUMMARY: The Resident Assistant (RA) is a part-time, para-professional position,
responsible for creating a healthy environment conducive for personal and academic
success in the residence hall as part of the retention efforts of the University.
Responsibilities include mediation resolution in the residence hall, crisis response,
facilities management and community building. The Resident Assistant serves as an
advisor, counselor and facilitator of student development. This is a three month, live- in
position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend and actively participate in training on May 20-23 from 9am – 4pm.
Work 17 weekly office hours, attend weekly staff meetings, and the evaluation
process of the RA program.
Assist with the check- in, check-out, and evening programs during summer
orientation programs in the Herman Crown Center. Reside in the Herman Crown
Center during programs and assist orientation leaders as needed.
Assist with the summer closing procedures of the residence hall.
Communicate and follow through on all maintenance needs in accordance with
the established procedures.
Assist with the administrative processes of the university not limited to include
open houses and tour.
Complete weekly paperwork and monthly programming
Understand and implement correct administrative procedures and requirements of
the position.
Assist in the preparation of fall RA training and hall opening.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated academic success (must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average
during time of application and during time of employment).
No documented violations of the Roosevelt code of conduct.
Understand and believe in the mission of the University and RA program.
Relate well with students, family members, faculty, and staff.
Be reliable, responsible, confident, flexible, willing to help, and an effective
communicator.
Demonstrate a desire to learn about the University, its regulations, its people, its
programs, and its community.
