Job Title: Deputy Head
Location: Treloar School, Upper Froyle, Alton, Hants GU34 4LA.
Responsible to: Headteacher
The School caters for 100 young people with physical disabilities, associated
learning difficulties and complex needs. The multi-disciplinary team,
comprising 225 staff, adopts a highly flexible and responsive approach to
learning to enable students to achieve their greatest possible level of
Membership of the School’s Leadership Team (LT)
Ensuring the smooth running of the School on a day-to-day basis.
Efficient and cost-effective deployment of all student support staff
Co-ordination and routine deployment of the various services that make
up the School’s provision in the absence of the Headteacher.
An initial task will be to carry out a review of the multi-disciplinary
working practices across the school.
In conjunction with the Trust’s Finance Department, review the
School’s budgetary processes.
Contribution to the School’s Strategic Plan by assisting the Headteacher in
preparing, implementing and monitoring the School’s Improvement Plan
and any other Action Plans that may arise from inspections.
Co-ordinate half-termly reviews to update the Self-evaluation Form (SEF).
Assist the Headteacher in preparing for the realisation of Vision Treloar’s

Deputising for the Headteacher in his/her absence.
Day-to-day management of Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral), Assistant
Headteacher (Education), Heads of Therapies, Senior Nurse and Learning
Supporting and working with the Headteacher and other members of the
LT to ensure excellent communication between all disciplines.
Overall direction and co-ordination of all aspects of the School’s
Organising and monitoring the School timetable.
Overseeing the use of resources, including ICT.
Undertaking shared responsibility for the School outside of the school day
as part of a Weekend On-Call duty roster to monitor provision and to be
within easy reach when required, including in the event of an emergency.
Supporting the Headteacher in preparing for OFSTED Inspections of the
Monitoring Department budgets.
Monitoring absence reporting and overtime forms.
Assisting the Headteacher with the day-to-day management of the site in
liaison with the Facilities Manager.
Assisting the Headteacher with the organisation of programmes for visitors
to the School.
Supporting, supervising and appraising members of staff.
Assisting the Headteacher to ensure that the School’s resources and
facilities match the needs of the students.
The list is not intended to be all-embracing; the Headteacher may additionally
require the Deputy Head to undertake any reasonable task which may
contribute to the effective development and running of the School.
