Instructions for Applying for Your Federal Stafford Loan (New Borrowers)
1. Go to http://www.scrippscollege.edu/financial-aid/educational-loans.php
2. Click on the Federal Stafford Loan link.
Please read the important information regarding the Federal Stafford Loan. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and follow the “Steps to Applying for a Federal Stafford Loan” for new Federal Stafford loan borrowers.
Step 1- Complete the Federal Stafford Loan Request Form. This form may be downloaded at http://www.scrippscollege.edu/financialaid/forms/200809/Federal%20Stafford%20Loan%20Request.pdf
Step 2- Complete your mandatory Federal Stafford Loan entrance interview. You can fulfill this requirement by going to https://staffordloanguide.usafunds.org/login.aspx?schoolId=00117400
Step 3- Select your Lender and Complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN). Follow the on-line process to apply for your loan. The link to begin the process is http://www.elmselect.com/oll/SchoolLenderList/?schoolId=8291

Make sure to sign and date the online form.

Please verify that all forms are filled out correctly before mailing or faxing them. Any errors, or missing signatures or dates, will require us to return them to you for corrections, thereby delaying the processing of your loan and the crediting of this aid to your student account. Congratulations, you have completed all of the steps to applying for your Federal Stafford Loan. Be sure to mail or fax the Federal Stafford Loan Request Form to the Office of Financial Aid.
