Job Description Manager of the Office of Community Policing Liaison FLSA Status: Standard/Exempt EEO Category: (20) Professional Class Code: 15255 Salary Grade: OF9 Approved: June 14, 1999 Last Revised: July 9, 2001 Purpose: Provide overall management and coordination of all operational activities of the Austin Police Department Community Liaison office in supporting Community Policing initiatives. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. 1. Manage and coordinate the Community Liaison office 2. Establish partnerships between Austin Police Department and the community 3. Facilitate problem solving at the department and community levels 4. Coordinate special events 5. Prepare division budgets and assist with department’s budget preparation 6. Schedule, plan, attend, and facilitate community liaison meetings/initiatives 7. Respond to Automated Customer Assistance Program requests 8. Respond to crime scenes to act as media liaison as department protocol requires 9. Oversight and management of the department Volunteer Program Responsibilities- Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised: Ø Perform supervisory duties, i.e., hiring, promoting, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Minimum Qualifications Education and/or Equivalent Experience: Ø Bachelor’s degree, plus four (4) years experience in related field, two(2) of which were in a supervisory capacity. Licenses or Certifications Required: Ø None.
