Subject: Free Coaching for 6 year old teams for this spring at Austin College
To U6 TSA teams
Welcome to the Spring Soccer Season 2010. I would again like to offer
free clinics/coaching at Austin College on our soccer field (corner of
the game field) for ALL 6 yrs (ONLY) players/teams in the TSA on
Thursday's 5-5:45pm from the 18th February until 25th March, weather
My rationale is simple; I think basic technical skill is the
essential foundation to player development Therefore I am offering this
session once a week to all the 6 players/teams only in the TSA The
sessions will follow the guidelines given by the United States Soccer
Association (NTXSSA follows the same principle) and NSCAA (see article
by George Perry in Jan NSCAA soccer journal 2008) for U6yrs. Basically
simple individual technical work with the ball for 30 mins with lots of
little fun games that emphasis skill development.
If any coaches of the teams wish to come and watch I can provide them
handouts of practices. Weather will determine the practices; above 50
degrees practice will go ahead, below no practice or severe weather.
Unfortunately my other time commitments and quite frankly energy levels
could not sustain all age groups. Perhaps this is a path the TSA may
consider for the future.
2010 is a World Cup year and I hope all the players get to watch
numerous games this June plus similar to previous years we will be
offering our popular and successful Kangaroo Soccer Camp from 7th June
- 10th June,.
Thanks in advance and I hope at the minimum these kids improve their
skill level and experiences.
