Corning's areas of involvement have included community service programs for students, curriculum enrichment, student scholarships, facility improvement and instructional technology projects for the classroom. To be eligible for the 2008 Healthy Sprouts Awards, your school or organization must plan to garden in 2009 with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18. The program uses a quality family literacy approach to increase basic language and literacy skills. The Foundation is interested in projects that expose students to career opportunities; develop skills in new technologies; leverage teacher, parental, and community involvement; and include hands-on activities. The American Academy of Dermatology's Shade Structure Program are grant awards for the purchase of permanent shade structures designed to provide shade and UV ray protection for outdoor areas.
