Dulux Australia’s 2009-2010 Colour Forecast is as dynamic as it is insightful, drawing on the latest global trends.
At the launch of The Future of Colour, Dulux’s Leading Colour Planning and Communications Manager, Andrea Lucena-Orr revealed the inspiration and science behind the diverse range of new colour palettes. “Each palette has a very different character or personality and represents the translation of our extensive research of fashion, design and architecture trends globally,’’ she said. “Our research behind the six key colour palettes for 2009/2010 is also supported by exclusive trend forecasting insight from the Internationally renowned experts The Future Laboratory,” Andrea explained.

and browns… all with subtle strength; in colours such as Vibrant Vision, Chive Bloom and Kiss. Not the traditional female palette of florals and patterns. This palette is female, not feminine. Refined eloquence is a move away from traditional luxury palettes. Bling is reduced, with a definite shift towards simple, understated style and wealth. A sense of humour and emotion replaces the previous brash show of wealth to create a palette of pale golds, gloss whites and neutral metallics like Crystal Mirage warmed up with burgundy such as Carmen.
The palette Eve-olution reflects women as the new power force of the marketplace. The result is a higher female impact on colour and design, from architecture to interiors, than ever seen before. Key influences for this palette are precision (the female eye for detail) but with simplicity (female intuition)! The colours of the palette are different hues of grey, purples, pinks

“We are starting to see this trend in interiors, from tapered back embellishments in ornamental designs, stylish clean lines in furniture, reduced bling on chandeliers however still with traditional designs,” Andrea said.

Colour Forecast 2009-2010
Intelligent colour, colour that reminds us of evocative places of culture and meditation is the stimulus behind the wabi sabi palette. Not just a Japanese decorating style; it’s a mind set. Reserved mushrooms, olives and near blacks capture the philosophy of living modestly and learning to be satisfied without unnecessary items. This palette captures the power and culture of Tokyo as a key driver in fashion trends. Culture Vulture is a playful palette full of vibrant and youth-like primary colours inspired by the many young designers who are challenging the seriousness and commercial values of the design industry with playful everyday designs.Think of a lamp that looks like a spider or a table with irregular shaped legs. Fun and playfulness are the key characteristics of this palette.
From Louboutin shoes with a sexy lick of colour on the heel to handbags and lamps with a secret exciting colour concealed inside. The palette is based on those secret colours behind the first impression that we see when looking at an object.

A big step away from the boring beige 90s, the Intrigue palette brings splashes of colour back into the home. Rich pinks such as Lickedy Lick and exciting aqua’s like Piccolo bring colour to life in a powerful yet fascinating way inspired by fashion.
Bionic nature, the final palette from Dulux for 2009/2010, reflects the new ‘green’. Recycling and the environment are no longer just represented by earthy neutrals. Instead this palette reflects the use of new age resources such as solar power and hydrogen powered cars … blurring the lines between nature and technology. The colour combinations include Cape Lee and Cocoa Milk, which are like a breath of fresh air.
