Integration of Schools and Mental Health Systems Carol M. White Physical Education Program Early Reading First
To increase student access to quality mental health care by developing innovative programs that link school systems with local mental health systems. To initiate, expand, or enhance physical education programs, including after-school programs, for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The program supports the development of early childhood centers of excellence that focus on all areas of development, especially on the early language, cognitive, and pre-reading skills that prepare children for continued school success and that serve primarily children from low-income families. Helps LEAs improve reading achievement by providing students with increased access to up-todate school library materials; well-equipped, technologically advanced school library media centers; and professionally certified school library media specialists. Supports efforts by LEAs to improve and strengthen their school emergency management plans, including training school personnel and students in emergency management procedures; communicating with parents about emergency plans and procedures; and coordinating with local law enforcement, public safety, public health, and mental health agencies.

None of these competitions are yet open, and the application dates and/or amounts might vary when they are finally published. When they do come out, most will have a fairly quick turnaround time. If you would like to discuss any of these further and/or want help in watching for when they open, contact Liz Metzger at emetzger@chicousd.org or at 891-3000 x144.
