The Ministerial and Strategic Relations Unit is responsible and accountable for supporting the Chief Executive and Senior Executive
Team through the coordination of high quality briefs and correspondence proceeding through to the Minister’s office.

This includes the coordination of all Ministerial and Chief Executive correspondence, quality assurance of all briefings and
coordination of responses to Questions on Notice and Questions Taken on Notice. The unit coordinates the portfolio legislation and
Cabinet program, and all other Assembly business.

The Ministerial and Strategic Relations Unit is also responsible and accountable for coordinating the strategic relations for the
Department within the ACT and national education and training agendas. This involves the provision and coordination of quality
advice to support ACT’s representation on major national committees, including the Ministerial Council for Employment, Education,
Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA), the Ministerial Council on Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE) and their senior
officer committees and working groups.

The unit provides secretariat support to the Department’s key governance committees including the Senior Executive Team, the
Board of Management and the standing committees that support the Board.

The unit is also responsible for providing secretariat support for key ACT advisory committees, such as the Government Schools
Education Council (GSEC), the Non-government Schools Education Council (NGSEC), and the Council of P& C Associations’
meetings with the Department.

The Ministerial and Strategic Relations Unit will work towards the achievement of our vision: To deliver a sustainable world class
education and training system that will significantly add to the economic, social and cultural wellbeing of the people in the ACT.

In implementing this vision the Ministerial and Strategic Relations Unit is guided by three strategic goals and within these goals the
following strategic priorities:
