Stafford County Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office Instructions for Tax Relief (Short From) Affidavit
The short from is an affidavit designed to streamline the tax relief application process. You are only required to file a long application with documentation once every three years or if your income and net-worth changes substantially. Please complete the affidavit as follows: 1. If your income and net-worth are still under the limits on the affidavit simply sign and return the affidavit to this office by April 1.
OR
2. If your income and/or net-worth is higher than the limits on the affidavit you will need to fill out an application (long form) and provide documentation. You may request an application by calling 6584132 (option 2 for real estate).
Income/net-worth limits and percentage of relief :
COMPLETE EXEMPTION (100%) 1. Applicant's income from all sources has to be less than $35,000. 2. Applicants net worth shall not exceed $300,000. PARTIAL EXEMPTION (50%) 1. Applicant's income from all sources has to be between $35,001 to $40,000. 2. Applicants net worth shall not exceed $200,000. PARTIAL EXEMPTION (50%) 1. Applicant's income from all sources has to be $30,000 and under. 2. Applicants net worth shall not exceed $400,000. FILE THIS AFFIDAVIT NO LATER THAN APRIL 1, 2008.
