INSTRUCTIONS FOR UNLOCKING THE MAPS
Congratulations on your purchase of TRAK ( TopoNav) Maps. They will greatly enhance the use of your Garmin GPS . Before beginning the unlock procedure, ensure that you have MapSource 6.12 or later loaded to your computer. To obtain the updated version please go to the Garmin web site at www.garmin.com in the section “software updates” . http://www8.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp You are now ready to begin the unlock procedure.
To obtain an unlock code:
1. Go to the following link : http://toponav.com/code 2. Enter the following information. a. The serial number found on the cover of the TRAK ( TopoNav) CD box. b. The ID of the GPS (Instructions for this are found at the end of this document) THE ID IS NOT THE NUMBER IN THE BACK OF THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT 3. Submit the information. You will receive an unlock code within a few hours. If you have difficulties we can be reached at : info@gpsquebec.ca
HOW TO FIND THE GPS ID
1. Turn on the GPS and connect to a computer. 2. In Mapsource click on «Utilities» then select «Get unit ID». 3. Click on «Find Device» following that «Copy» the ID . Finally «Close».
To enter the unlock code
1. In «Utilities», open the application «unlock maps». 2. Click on «Next». 3. Click on «Yes, I have the 25 character unlock code» and «Next». 4. Enter the code received by email. «Next». 5. You have finished, now «Close». Your maps are now unlocked. Ensure that your map setting are « Highest Detail ». Garmin and MapSource are trademarks of Garmin Ltd.
Troubleshooting
Question : I have received an error message « UNLOCK WIZARD ERROR, CONTACT GARMIN » Answer : Install the updated Garmin Mapsouce software at the following link: http://www8.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp Question : When I open Mapsource, I do not see my maps.. Answer : Use the drop down list to the left of the Mapsource screen to select the area required. Question : I cannot see all the detail of the maps in my GPS. Answer : Go into the menu-> Map Detail -> set to highest. You also have to set the map detail to highest in the GPS. Please consult your instruction manual for details on how.
