This document is to help you choose what method of import or export should be used for different situations.
There is documentation on each – make sure that you have the most up to date documentation and that you are
using the version specified by the documentation.
EXPORT PROGRAM FROM SITEPLAN
SitePlan to P3 (excluding P3e)
Use P3 Batch file export.
SitePlan to SureTrak
Note that some versions of SureTrak require a patch to prevent durations and lags being imported as hours. This
can be found on the Primavera website.
SitePlan to MSProject (all versions)
SitePlan to PS7
SitePlan to PowerProject
IMPORT PROGRAM INTO SITEPLAN
P3 to SitePlan (excluding P3e)
Use P3 Batch file import.
Otherwise use the P3 CSV import or MPX. Both these methods have problems with order of activities as no headers
CCS TechNote Document
SureTrak to SitePlan
If “outline level” has been used to organise the data then the order of the activities and headers will import
perfectly. If a code structure has been used then NO headers will be exported by SureTrak. The best solution in
this case will be to save the project as a P3 concentric file and use P3 to do the export (see above).
MSProject (all versions>3 and <2000) to SitePlan
MSProject 2000 to SitePlan
Use CSV. MSProject 2000 does not export MPX files.
There is, however, a free-ware tool that can convert MSProject 2000 files to MPX. This is available at
www.download.com, look for Project 2000 Exchange Wizard. NOTE that this tool converts all durations to minutes
and requires 1.06b8 to import correctly.
Another method is to save the program as an MSProject 98 program – then use MSP98 to save the mpx file.
PS7 to SitePlan
Use MPX. . Note that we have found that the MPX export from PS7 is not very good.
Another option is CSV. There is no documentation on this.
PowerProject to SitePlan
Email the file that is being imported/exported to email@example.com. Include your name, company, phone number
(international format), version of CCS, version of the product that is attempting to open the file and any special
information i.e. the file has been exported on a non-English machine.
