$13 million contract awarded as part of ethanol distillery upgrade

Specialist engineering and construction contractor, Bilfinger Berger Services, has been
awarded a $13 million project to boost production capacity at CSR Limited’s ethanol distillery
in Sarina, Queensland.

The Sarina distillery currently produces 38 million litres of fuel grade ethanol and 22 million
litres of industrial/beverage grade ethanol. The upgrade of the distillery will involve the
installation of a molecular sieve dehydration unit, allowing all 60 million litres of production to
be converted to fuel grade ethanol.

Bilfinger Berger Services’ Managing Director, Mark Elliott, said the company will provide all
engineering, procurement and construction services for the project, together with Indian
technology subcontractor, Praj, who will supply the molecular sieve unit.

“This project builds on our success as a solution provider for complex process technology
projects, based on the company’s in-house design and construction capability,” Mr Elliott
said.

Construction of the Sarina project is set to commence in November 2008 and completion is
scheduled by June 2009.

The project is the second molecular sieve unit installation at the Sarina facility undertaken by
Bilfinger Berger Services. The first installation was completed in 2006.
