					                   PTA General Membership Meeting
                     November 13, 2006 at 6:00am
Call to Order
-The second general membership meeting was called to order at 6:00pm.

Pledge of Allegiance

PTA President Opening Remarks
Julie Green, Co-President, welcomed all DCES Parents and Teachers to the meeting, also
noting the high attendance due to the 2nd Grade performance following the meeting.

Julie welcomed Diana O’Sullivan as the newest member to join the PTA Officer
Team, as Secretary.

Secretary’s Report:
Diana read the PTA General Meeting Minutes from August 14-15, 2006. Cindy
Kunis made a motion to accept the minutes, while Elaine Harris seconded the motion.

Treasurer’s Report:
Dee discussed the various Budget Amendments. All proposals were reviewed. Janet
Keller made a motion to accept all revisions, while Julie Green seconded the motion.

Dee introduced the general details of her “PTA Money: Where does it come from? Where
does it go?” summary. The flyer will be distributed to all DCES students by Friday 11/17.

Committee Reports:
-6th Annual DCES Craft Fair netted $1400, over the estimated net of $1200.

-Ginger Bread Market is scheduled for December 4-9, 2006. Each Room Parent will need
to secure 4-5 Volunteers from each classroom to help with this event.

-The Family Life Involvement’s “Holiday Giving Tree” was discussed. Flyers will be
distributed on Friday 11/17. Event will start November 21 through December 6, 2006.

-All Parents were encouraged to login and sign-up via the ptomanager web site
to help with DCES Events.

-Directory Update – All Directories will be distributed by Friday 11/17.

Unfinished Business:
-Membership Survey Results were discussed. Out of 700 memberships at that time, well
over 323 replies were received. Overall results were very positive.
New Business:
-Nomination Committee – PTA Board will adhere to all requirements stated in the PTA
National Guidelines. Five members with one alternative, who have joined the PTA, are
needed to comprise of the Committee. Volunteers will be elected in February of next
year, present slate in March and vote in April’s General Meeting.

Announcements:
-All DCES Parents were encouraged to check with their corporations as far as their
matching gift/donation program.
-Book Fair is scheduled through the morning of November 20. Parent Night is scheduled
for Thursday 11/16.
-PTA Family Fun Night for Thursday, 11/16, will begin at 6:00pm.

Principal’s Report:
-Kathy Carpenter explained an e-mail distribution list has been created for all DCES
Parents. Parents will be informed of school issues (closing due to inclement weather, gas
leaks, etc …), school newsletter and Forsyth County information. Parents will have a
choice to opt out of receiving information by writing to Rebecca McGinnis.
