Songs of LSU
"Fight For LSU" (LSU Fight Song)
Like Knights of old, Let's fight to hold The glory of the Purple Gold. Let's carry through, Let's die or do To win the game for dear old LSU. Keep trying for that high score; Come on and fight, We want some more, some more. Come on you Tigers, Fight! Fight! Fight! for dear old L-S-U. RAH!
LSU Alma Mater
Where stately oaks and broad magnolias shade inspiring halls, There stands our dear Alma Mater who to us recalls Fond memories that waken in our hearts a tender glow, And make us happy for the love that we have learned to know. All hail to thee our Alma Mater, molder of mankind, May greater glory, love unending be forever thine. Our worth in life will be thy worth we pray to keep it true, And thy spirit dwell in us forever…L-S-U.
"Tiger Rag" (Hold That Tiger)
Long ago, way down in the jungle Someone got an inspiration for a tune, And that jingle brought from the jungle Became famous mighty soon. Thrills and chills it sends thru you! Hot! so hot, it burns you too! Tho' it's just the growl of the tiger It was written in a syncopated way, More and more they howl for the 'Tiger' Ev'ry where you go today They're shoutin' Where's that Tiger! Where's that Tiger! Where's that Tiger! Where's that Tiger! Hold that Tiger! Hold that Tiger! Hold that Tiger!
"Hey Fighting Tigers"
Hey, Fightin' Tigers, Fight all the way Play Fightin' Tigers, win the game today. You've got the know how, you're doing fine, Hang on to the ball as you hit the wall And smash right through the line You've got to go for a touchdown Run up the score. Make Mike the Tiger stand right up and roar. ROAR! Give it all of your might as you fight tonight and keep the goal in view. Victory for L-S-U!
(Adapted from the original composition 'Hey, Look Me Over' from the Broadway production 'Wildcat'.)
"Touchdown for LSU"
Tigers! Tigers! They've come to town, They fight! They fight! Call a first down, Just look them over, and how they can go, Smashing the line with runs and passes high and low. Touchdown! Touchdown! It's Tigers' score. Give them hell and a little bit more. Come on you Tigers, Fight them, you Tigers, Touchdown for LSU. Rah! U. Rah!

Les Miles
LSU FOOTBALL HEAD COACH
It has been said that LSU is in the midst of the Golden Era of football at the school and head coach Les Miles has been the driving force behind the Tigers’ dominance at the national level for the past three years. Since taking over as head coach at LSU in January of 2005, Miles has guided the Tigers to the 2007 BCS National Title and to three straight top five rankings, a first at the school. Miles’ three year record with the Tigers is an astonishing 34-6, which marks the best three-year stretch in the history of the program. LSU’s success under Miles hasn’t been just on the playing field as the Tigers have also excelled in both the classroom as well as being active participants within the community. With an approach that demands his players strive for excellence and pursue an education while representing the University in first-class fashion, the response by the players has been overwhelming. In addition to averaging over 11 wins for the past three years, the Tigers have also had 51 players earn a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll with another 42 earning their college diploma. Of the 25 seniors on the 2007 national championship team, 11 have already earned their college degree with the remainder of the class on pace to graduate within the next year. The Tigers also played an instrumental role in the recovery efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, two of the most devastating natural disasters to hit the Louisiana coast. On the field, the Tigers have produced 19 NFL Draft picks over the past three years, including a school-record four firstround picks in the 2007 draft. In 2007, senior defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey became the most decorated defender in school history winning four national awards – the Lombardi, Outland, Nagurski and Lott Trophies – as well as being the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus All-American. Now, with the Tigers becoming first school in the country to have won two BCS National Championships, the foundation for LSU football is more stable than ever. After 34 wins, including 14 over foes ranked among the nation’s top 25, and with three straight recruiting classes ranked among the top 10 in the nation, Miles and the Tigers have solidified their standing as one of college football’s premier programs.
Miles Traveled at LSU
As Les Miles enters his fourth year with the Tigers, the foundation for LSU football is more stable than ever. Miles’ first three years with the Tigers has been unmatched in the history of the program. The results are impressive and staggering:
34 wins 20 SEC victories 15 wins over top 25 teams 7 wins over top 10 teams Three straight top 5 final rankings 3 bowl victories 2 BCS bowl victories 1 SEC Championship 1 National Championship
Les and Kathy Miles have four children, Benjamin, Macy, Smacker, and Manny.

Tradition Fund Three-Year Funding Plan
In January of 2008, a three-year funding plan was approved for LSU Athletics that will step up the required Tradition Fund contributions for football tickets over the course of three seasons. LSU Athletics, which uses no state tax dollars or student fees to fund the operation of 20 varsity sports, has implemented the funding plan to address future needs and rising costs in order to remain competitive with other nationally recognized programs. The additional revenue generated by the threeyear plan will allow LSU to address a regular three to four percent inflation rate of its operating expenses, including salaries for coaches, rising costs of travel, utilities, and game guarantees, and to continue to address facilities needs in all sports.
