The proposed research will expand on the work of:
• Greene and Foster (2003) and Cohen (2008) by exploring specific
   instructional strategies and assessment applications to facilitate students
   placement in credit bearing/entry level college courses vs. developmental
   classes due to a lack of basic skills in mathematics, reading, and English;

• Roderick, Nagaoka, and Coca (2009) by determining whether ethnicity
    and/or socioeconomic backgrounds are factors in academic preparation
    for the high school graduates, particularly in math and English;

• Roderick, Nagaoka, and Coca (2009) by providing valid indicators of college
    readiness, which are effective for preparing urban high school students for
    college.
