Making Graphs and Charts
Enter the following data into a new Spreadsheet workbook:
Bus Girls Boys 3 2
Taxi
Walk Cycle Car 1 6 2 3 0 8 3 2
You are going to use this data to make a graph to show how this class of primary children arrived at their school in the morning. Highlight all the cells containing data (dragging from the last cell is easiest). It may look like one cell is not highlighted – it is! Now select the Chart wizard icon to begin to create your bar graph. In Step 1 of the wizard, select a Column chart and then choose to have your data series displayed in Rows in Step 2. In Step 3 add a title for your graph and the X and Y axis titles. You could use: Title – How We Get to School X axis Method of Transport Y axis Number of Children Step 4 – Choose to have your chart created as an object in Sheet 1. Click on Finish and your graph will appear over your workbook. You can now resize as necessary and copy and paste into a Word document.
