Imparting Truth ~ Transforming Lives ~ Impacting Generations Summer 2009

Dear Friends, Family & Ministry Partners,
I want to share with about an awesome opportunity we have before us.

In the summer of 2008 I had the privilege of traveling to Rwanda in partnership with Home of Hope to minister to
the practical and spiritual needs of widows and orphans. Rwanda is a nation that has experienced tremendous
devastation through a massive genocide years ago. 1,000,000 people were murdered in just 100 days during the 1994
Rwandan genocide. That was more than 6 men/women/or children murdered every 60 seconds, of every hour, of every
day, for 100 days.
Home of Hope, a ministry started in Red Deer, Alberta has invited me back again this summer to
lead a mission team to help with the establishing of a new church and ministry center in Byumba, just 1.5 hours from
Jabana where the first church was planted 2 years ago. The plan is to leave July 27 , to fly to Nairobi, Kenya, where I will
speak at the Bible School there. Miriam, my 15 year old daughter will also be a part of this team. The rest of the team will
join us on July 30 to continue on to Rwanda.

Currently in Rwanda, there are over 613,000 orphans under the age of 14 as a result of the AIDS epidemic and
the genocide combined. One orphan for every 13 people ranking as one of the highest in the world! There is an
estimated 100,000 new orphans in Rwanda every year. 1 million by 2011. Rwanda has the largest population of children
raising children in the world.
Now over 101,000 children are the heads of the home of Rwandan family households.
The number one way that these children raise money to take care of the others is prostitution.
 Over 60,000 children
have major physical disabilities.
There is 1 Doctor for every 50,000 people. (compared to 1 doctor for every 500
people in Canada) . 88% of people have to walk more than a half hour to reach any kind of medical facility. Presently, 480
children are getting their desperate needs met through Home of Hope Rwanda every month! A feeding program to help
hundreds of more poor children is in the works. Instead of building orphanages, Home of Hope is building duplexes to
house one widow or caregiver for every 8 orphans. This provides a family-style environment for these children to heal,
grow and develop to be all God intended them to be.

On this Mission trip I will be doing the following:
- Speaking at a WLI (Wagner Leadership Institute) Bible School in Kenya, training microloan recipients,
-Preaching, training and equipping ministry leaders and caregivers in 4 of the Home of Hope mission locations.

Miriam and the rest of the team will also be :
-Helping build the new church/training centre, Clearing land for future duplexes to house orphans and widows, Caring for
and visiting orphans, currently sponsored and identifying more needing sponsorship, Setting up mosquito nets (to prevent
the spread of malaria), providing supplies for school, medical and personal needs, doing street ministry, and helping with
the feeding program.

I would like to invite you to pray about partnering with us in one or more of the following ways:
                                         th th
    1) Prayer : During the trip, (July 27 -Aug 13 , 2009) that God would accomplish His work through us, and for safety
        and health.
    2) Financial donations – Towards the cost of trip- $5000 per person. (All cheques are to be made out to “Impact
Ministry”, with Dewar written on bottom left corner of the cheque. Donations can also be made by Credit card
upon request.). All donations are tax-receiptable.
    3) You may also choose to sponsor a child or caregiver and send gifts with us for them. (see
        for more info on that).

Please prayerfully consider being a part of this amazing work God is doing through Canadians in bringing healing to this
nation of Rwanda. I encourage you to read more about this work on the Home of Hope website.

Thank you in advance for prayerfully considering helping us go to Rwanda to share God’s love and hope.
