Lab 3 – Excel Charts Graphs and Charts: Delivering a Message
Objectives: Describe how a chart can be used to deliver a message. List several types of charts and describe the purpose of each Distinguish between an embedded chart versus a chart in its own sheet Use the Chart Wizard to create and modify a chart Use the Drawing toolbar to enhance a chart by adding lines and objects Distinguish between data series in rows versus columns Differentiate between a stacked-column chart versus a side-by-side column chart Create a Word document that is linked to a worksheet and an associated chart Assessment: 1. To create and modify a chart by using the Chart Wizard; to embed a chart within a worksheet; to enhance a chart to include arrows and text . 2. To plot multiple data series in the same chart; to differentiate between data series in rows and columns. 3. To create a compound document consisting of a memo, worksheet, and chart. 4. To use Autosum and Autoformat commands; Page Break Preview Instructions: Use lab manual, Excel Chapter 3 (Green code) Do Hands-On Exercises # 1, 2, 3. Also do problem 4 on page 433. This lab has a lot of charts. FOR THIS LAB ONLY it is not necessary to print a second copy of each sheet in order to show formulas. There are few if any formulas required. Just charts. Print the following: Worksheet + pie chart pg. 406; chart pg. 409; Revenue by City pg. 415; stacked bar chart pg. 418; memo pg. 426 + problem 4 pg. 433 If you are not required by the lab to type your name in the worksheet as part of the exercise, ALWAYS type your name somewhere (cell A2 or whatever is empty), the course number, B-122-141, and Lab #, Lab 2. And ALWAYS “fit to one page” when printing. Saving all final results in case you need them again.
