Campus Principal STaR Chart Directions 2004-2005 “Aiming for Target Tech”
As Campus Principal, you are the critical first step for your campus implementation of the Teacher STaR Chart. You will need to login to the STaR Chart system, view your teacher accounts, add any new teachers on your campus who do not appear on your list, and finally, provide your teachers with their usernames and your campus id number. The first time your teachers log in they will login as new users, register, (they will need their e-mail address, grade level, subject area; they will create their own unique minimum eight character password) and create their STaR Chart. You will be able to view which teachers have completed their charts from the “Completion Report by Teacher”. You will also be able to view your “Campus Average for Teacher STaR Chart”. However, you will not have access to the scores that individual teachers have entered. Warning: If you or your teachers cannot complete the registration process their may be workstation browser issues; check the home page of the STaR Chart for Login/Password/Browser Configuration.

Directions: 1. Use the same password that you used last year for your Campus STaR Chart submittal.
a. If you are a new principal on your campus, contact TPESC for the password. b. If you are a principal of a new campus, you will log in as a new user, principal by entering your nine digit county/district/campus number. You will create a password during the registration process.
2. Access the STaR Chart campus menu at: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart 3. Login under the ‘Returning User’ section. Select the ‘Campus Principal’ option.
• If you are a new principal at your campus, and do not have the previous password contact your district STaR Chart representative or TPESC for the password. The password can be changed when you log in under “Update Contact Information”. • If you are principal at a new campus, use the ‘New User’ section and ‘register your campus’ first; at that time you will create a password for your campus.

4. From your Main Campus Menu, select “Manage Teacher Accounts” and select “View/Add/Archive Teacher Accounts”.

5. Select the “Archive” option in the last column to archive any that have retired, or left your campus.

6. Add any new teachers that are not on your list, using their name as it appears in PEIMS. 7. You will notice on your completed list that the teacher usernames are in the format: firstname.lastname. In some situations, a number will appear at the end of the username. This number is critical for this specific teacher to know, because it distinguishes them from another teacher in the State with the same username.

8. Print your list of usernames by right clicking somewhere on the window with your teacher list and selecting the print option. Your teachers will need their username and nine digit Campus ID in order to access the system. 9. Now that you have completed all of the necessary campus configuration and setup actions for the STaR Chart, determine the timeline for completion of the Teacher STaR Chart. 10. Acquire copies of the Teacher STaR brochure from your District STaR Chart coordinator. 11. Present the STaR Chart background and purpose to your teachers (Teacher STaR Chart Presentation), provide them with a timeline for completion, and discuss with them your expectations for their use of the STaR Chart. 12. Provide your teachers with their usernames and nine digit Campus ID for the system.
Special notes: Emphasize to your teachers that you will not be able to view their individual scores. You will only have access to the campus average. Notify them that you will be able to determine who has completed or not completed the Chart.

13. Monitor the completion report by accessing the “Completion Report by Teacher” report from the “Manage Teacher Accounts” section of the Campus Menu page.

14. View your Campus average by accessing the “Campus Average for Teacher STaR Chart Scores” from the “Manage Teacher Accounts” section of the Campus Menu page.

15. When your teachers have completed their charts and you are ready to complete your chart. Log in and select “Campus STaR Chart Options”

Develop plans for your teachers and campus to reach Target Tech and meet the goals of the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, the Technology TEKS, the SBEC Educator Standards, and NCLB reporting requirements. Integrate these technology plans into your Campus Improvement Plans.
