                               HOT PLATE
                           POTENTIAL HAZARDS
                              BURNS
                              FIRE / EXPLOSION
                              ELECTRICAL SHOCK
                              CHEMICAL EXPOSURE

LOCATE away from flammables, combustibles and water sources.
USE IN A FUME HOOD as per MSDS.
CONSULT the MSDS for chemicals being used. Remember that heated
chemicals may pose a greater danger.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
      Heat-resistant gloves; Eye protection, as per MSDS; Lab coat
TIE BACK hair, sleeves, jewelry.
CHECK INTEGRITY of all components routinely.
ENSURE glassware is not cracked.
DO NOT CLAMP test tubes or flasks more tightly than necessary to hold
them in place when heating. Expanding glass may break if clamped too tightly.
CORD should never touch the hot surface.
SOLUTIONS being heated should not be tightly stoppered.
MONITOR to prevent boiling over.
USE GLOVES OR TONGS to pick up hot material.
TURN OFF immediately after use
LEAVE A SIGN informing others of heat hazard.
