Summer Seminar 2003
27 July – 03 August 2003
Young farmers and people with disabilities working in
organic farming – a chance for rural areas?
”The European Committee for Young Farmers and 4H Clubs, in co-operation with the
Mouvement International des Jeunesses Agricoles et Rurales Catholiques
(European Catholic Rural Youth Mouvement), has the pleasure to announce its
special Summer Seminar ”Young farmers and people with disabilities – a chance for
rural areas?”, which will take place on the farm ”Landgut Gronenfelde” at the edge of
the town Frankfurt (Oder) in a rural region of (Eastern) Germany from 27 July–03
August 2003.
This seminar is one of the first steps to widen our organisation’s work field in this
theme and also our geographical scope through new contacts between the members
of the two European umbrella organisations ECYF4HC and MIJARC.
The aim of the seminar is to show the lively field of ecological agriculture shown as a
social service for the society and a method for rural development. That means the
creation of working places for people with and without disabilities in rural areas, to
give them all an appropriate life situation and to work directly for a better integration
of this minority group in the society which requires the reduction of intolerance and
prejudice.
We offer the seminar to people who have experience in the work with disabled
people, with minority groups or ecological agriculture, to those who are engaged to
increase the social and cultural value of rural regions with the background of rural
life. This seminar is also for all people who are interested in these themes although
they haven’t any experience in them and for people who want to work or plan a
project in this field.
Everybody who is motivated is welcome and is an enrichment.
The input of specialists realised in lectures and an experience day by helping on the
farm to see the practice will be the basis for the final case study.
The main aim of the seminar is the training and the increase of sensibility of multipliers
about the work with people with disabilities in organic agriculture and the creation of
new projects.
The Objectives of the Seminar are
international exchange of experience and good practices in the work with people with
disabilities in organic agriculture
training of multipliers in the field of particularities in the work with people with disabilities,
economical issues of workshops for people with disabilities in organic agriculture and
possibilities for better integration and amelioration of contacts between these people and
the society (especially the local population)
increase of sensibility of our member organisations in this theme with prospect on
continuation
direct exchange of experience between the participants and the workers with disabilities
from the organic farm
