Log books for decontamination equipment such as sterilizers, washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners etc.
Background: A log book is a document used to record the maintenance and performance history of a piece of decontamination equipment. The log book is used to record the results of periodic tests, faults and maintenance carried out for each piece of decontamination equipment as required by the current guidance and standards for the particular equipment1,2. This record has several important purposes. On a day to day basis, it is a source of reference for the operator to check the status of the equipment prior to use, it could be a source of useful evidence in the event of an adverse incident3 and it provides an audit trail of testing and maintenance, faults etc. Question: Where can log books for decontamination equipment such as sterilizers, washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners etc., be obtained and are electronic versions available?
