AM

I'm so tired of me...ready to make this happen. There's always some excuse not to
do right with eating or exercise....the wedding, work, getting in late, getting up late,
didn't defrost the meat, stressing... I have to stop the excuses...its time to get back
to facing my biggest obstacle...myself...

I hate this struggle, this back and forth...

I need to refocus..I have to do something different to get different results...

THIS SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

PM

I did fairly well today. Still need to get in the gym, but I did make better food
choices and if I ate something fried I attempted to eat a smaller portion, so just
getting back to these basics makes me feel a little better..

Lunch - grabbed from Subnation today

Subnation Tuna salad - mesculun, tomatoes, one slice of swiss cheese, sweet
peppers, hot peppers, roasted red peppers & half of a balsamic vinegar dressing

myself staring at the other half of last night's cheesecake...trying not to touch it.

is, instead of standing around I can be walking the grounds during practice and I'll
still have a full view of him! So it was at the very end of practice that this hit me, but
I was able to get one good lap in!

crazy with the food today and workout for at least 15 minutes today doing
something! I'll check back in later!

PM

Yeah, well so much for not going crazy. I did fairly ok, I purchased from the salad
bar and took the majority of icing off of the cupcakes, but I probably feel worst about
caving into my late night hunger when I grabbed two slices of pizza...On top of
that, I didn't manage to exercise at all either. However, I did some serious
housework before the party, so that must have burned off something extra...(ok,
who am I kidding, that doesn't truly count in my book as exercise..)

So once in a while I'll have an ephihany. Well I had one this evening. What is it you
ask? Well I realized that I really don't have much to talk about in my journal because
I'm still eating whatever I want. What I've noticed is that when I'm really trying to
stay true..I always have something to talk about because I'm fighting myself to stay
on track and what better way to work through that then to write about it...

But at the same time, I can still see where the daily updating comes in handy. For
example, today I got decaf coffee instead of french vanilla and instead of eating the
bagels and pastries at today's breakfast meeting, I stuck with the water and fruit...

So, well.. I guess it is working to an extent and I do have something to talk about..

definition of working out.
So I've already known, but today was a confirmation that I am the guinea pig for our

gladly oblige, but I can see I'm going to have to watch that.

I was working in the store today and constantly had to remember not to nibble or
eat without planning it out. I caught myself on a couple of occasions and sometimes
I didn't catch myself fast enough, which you can see from below.
Later this evening, I went to McDonald's to return the recalled glass and hubby
asked me to grab him an ice cream cone. In the last couple of months I would never
be seen leaving Mcdonalds without anything for myself..especially without my
favorite hot fudge sundae with nuts! But I did it! I'm starting to second guess
everything I eat again...so keeping my journal back online is definitely helping!!

Saturday, June 5, 2010 - Monthly Weigh-In Update

Wow..Is it June already? Yes, the month flew by! Ok, so let's get down to business. I
lost absolutely nothing this month. Gained two pounds to be exact but lost some
inches. That's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. Ideally, I was hoping to
maintain my weight at minimum, but losing inches is always a good thing!

I went to the gym about, let's see... ZERO times this month! First full month not
working out. My gym membership expired on May 4th, but I finally renewed it about
a week or two ago, so now I just need the momentum and motivation to get back
there!

So, I didn't work out at all in May and for the first time, completely slacked up on my
daily food journal which I keep.

I'm not giving up though. Actually, I was reviewing my website and I'm completely
seeing the importance of keeping the daily online journal! It really assisted with
ensuring I held myself accountable for everything I put in my mouth. Sometimes I
wouldn't eat junk just because I didn't want to have to write it in my journal.
Obviously, it really does help in the decision making of what to eat and when.

Now the wedding is over, I feel as though I have my life and time back! By the way,
my baby sister was a gorgeous bride!!

I am finally ready...plus, its getting too hot to eat anyway. :)

Might as well take advantage of the hot weather and slim up some more. :)

So, I'm going to make the following promises to myself, as it's time to take back
control:
1. I will get back in the gym 2-3 times a week minimum

2. I will watch what I eat...(as I'm putting it in my mouth...) lol, no seriously:

I will focus on cutting down my food serving intake and the amount of sweets that
I'm ingesting.

The hardest one of all:

3. I will start to log my online journal daily again, starting today.

Ok, that's enough promises for the month..now time to get to work...

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Slow and steady wins the race? Perhaps, but to be honest, not much effort went into
this month. I just attempted not to go crazy like I did last month. So, I lost the three
pounds that I gained from the previous month which is good....I won't downplay
that...but I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed because it's obvious that I'm
losing momentum. I swear if it wasn't for me keeping track of what I've been eating,
I would have easily gained back at least 10lbs by now.

So how was my lifestyle in general this month...should I have expected to lose
anything? Actually, I just went over my journal and its obvious that even though I
had my good days, I had a good amount of bad days also. Like last week when I ate
a whole pecan cinnabon (Livingston Mall...remember that analogy?!)

Even with that and the other slip ups, I was definitley more in control then the
previous month. I made sure to pack my lunch more and bring healthier snacks to
have throughout the day.
Since updating the site on a daily basis is extremely difficult to keep up with, let me
give you a run down of how my month was:

This month was pretty busy with a lot of late nights preparing for the bride's bridal
shower, which just took place last Saturday. By the way, the bride's shower was a
complete elegant sweet fest if you could even imagine! She has a sweet tooth, so
everything was centered around the things that she likes. There was a chocolate
fondue fountain display, a candy and dessert bar which displayed about 15-20
different varieties of candy, along with cupcakes and a designer cake by Audrey Criss
as well as gourmet candy apples as favors! It was beautiful and awesome all at the
same. I was proud of myself though, because there was a lot of temptation and I
definitely indulged, but I don't feel as if I overdid it at all, so there wasn't feelings of
guilt afterwards which is always good.

Life has also changed a bit between home and work, so I'm attempting to adjust my
schedule accordingly. The gym was just about nonexistent this month, which is
probably one of my biggest problems, because I ate pretty ok this month for the
most part, so the gym would have probably helped knock off an additional couple of
pounds and an inch or two. I made it to the gym 4 times this month and that was
only within the first two weeks of the month. I haven't seen the gym since April
18th, even though I did take the kids to the park for some walking, running and
playing the other day.

So all in all, I won't consider this month to be a complete wash. I managed to get
down 3lbs and haven't completely given up on the good habits I have been learning.

I don't expect May to be any easier, but will make a concious effort to get in the gym
more or at minimum do some at home workouts. The wedding is at the end of this
month so there will be some additional busy nights and days, but I can't wait for my
little sister to get married!! This should be an exciting month! So, I look forward to
speaking to you again after the wedding!

Let's Rock & Roll!!

Saturday, April 3, 2010

HI! Long time no see! So the good news is, I haven't totally given up on living a
healthier life! The bad news is, the progress report for this month is not an April
Fool's joke! I continued the fresh fruits, veggies and grains for the first couple of
weeks of March, then I slipped and never fully recovered. I went all out this past
month, reverting back to old habits and not working out on a consistent basis. It's
obvious that I can never go back to how I was living or this will never work.

More good news is that being that I'm still keeping my journal, I'm aware of what's
been triggering me to revert. I'm definitely an emotional eater. Unlike some, when I
stress, I look to eat. I have to find a way to handle these times a little better.

I'm also questioning whether the whole grains, fruits and veggies is the way for me.
It worked and I felt good on it, but I'm wondering if part of my problem was related
to being on such a restrictive lifestyle? I don't know, but what I do know is that no
matter what I've done within the last six months, I've never netted a weight gain by
the end of the month. Then again, I've never ate crap for a full 2-3 weeks without
going to the gym either.

I think its been a culmination of things, and ultimately, I will have to play around
with what works best for me for the long term.

I'm still keeping positive though and am looking forward to starting this month off
fresh and continuing to move towards my goals!!

REVIEW OF GOALS:

 To be able to walk up the 2 flights to my desk without huffing and puffing -

Since October, I've been walking the stairs at work. I only take the elevator if my
heels are really high or if I'm about to be late. So this has been a lifestyle change
and it's working. I'm used to it at this point and I'm not out of breath by the time I
get up there!

 1-2.5 lbs weight loss a week -

Besides for this last weigh-in, I've been able to keep to this for the most part.

 To wear a size 12 (comfortably) by the end of March 2010 -

Not there yet, I started out in October wearing sizes 16 and 18. I'm a solid 14 at this
time.
 To get through a work out class only taking breaks when the instructor gives
    them -

Still working on keeping up with the instructor

 Increasing my swimming skills -

Have only been swimming once. Need to find the time and money to make this one
work.

 Take a nutrition class -

Not yet.

 To get back into my wedding ring without having to get it enlarged!!!!

I was able to get it on, but still had to tug a little to get it off. I want it to slip on and
off easily! I'll try again in a couple of months!

Monday, March 1, 2010

Hi Guys!! Just a note that I have been keeping up with my journal, however, just
need to find time to get it online!! Things have been beyond busy, but I'm still
moving forward with the plan!! Just a quick fyi, I've moved more towards veggies,
fruits, whole grains, oats and nuts. This has helped me continue with my weight loss
considering I've been very busy with work so getting up at 5:30am to go to the gym
hasn't been working out as well lately. I do plan on getting back in line with working
out though. My body misses it, but I feel good, because for the most part, I'm eating
well! Talk to you soon!!

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I was definitely stressed out from work today. What does that mean? Well normally
it means I'm going to eat, eat, eat. But for some reason I took the mind frame of
"I'm pissed off, but I'm not going to take it out on my body." This was my first time
thinking about it like that, but honestly, that's what it really boils down too..

When I get stressed and depressed I eat. It appears as though I'm nurturing myself
and making myself feel better with the food, but in actuality, I'm not doing myself
any favors and am actually hurting myself to an extent. This was definitely an
epiphany for me today even though now it seems soo obvious...
So, I noticed that I'm breaking out something horrible on my face. Why? I'm not
even going to blame it on the stress...it's simply because I'm not drinking enough
water. I realize this so I've been stepping it up. Its still not where it should be, but
I'm attempting to make a mental note to drink water even when I'm not thirsty.

I'm starting to notice the definition that's starting to form in my chest area. The
"workout chest" look..slowly but surely.. I think that's cute, because its not

a hard look, but it shows some serious stuff be going down in the gym...

I also like the fact that when I see my reflection in the mirror...I'm seeing a skinnier
me!! It's a great feeling to see the changes and I think the best part is that I'm
starting to envision myself smaller which I think is a tremendous step in my way of
thinking...

Took hubby away for his birthday weekend to Foxwoods. Now slots and bingo is all
about sitting, munching and waiting.

I know this so I decided to prepare ahead of time. I packed my fruit, 100 calorie
bagels with low fat cream cheese, low sodium crackers and some other snacks which
aren't necessarily the healthiest, but are better then some of the options I would
normally purchase while I'm there. So I definitley had good intentions and the day
started off great.

Hubby was hungry, so we stopped to McDonalds and everyone got some sort of a Big
Breakfast Platter. I didn't plan on not getting anything, but at the drive thru decided
to pass. It was rough being in the car while I'm smelling eggs, sausages, hash
browns, biscuits, pancakes and the such. However, I asked hubby to pull me out
some fruit and I ate my banana. It definitely curbed the hunger for a little while.

So to make a long story short, the day started out very well. It ended up not as well.
However, I'm still proud of myself because even though we are away, I still made a
point to get some exercise in, right in the hotel room!

Oh, that probably didn't sound right, but to be more specific, I ended up bringing my
jump rope and resistance band that I got from Christmas and got my workout on.
Tomorrow, I hope to actually find time to get down to the hotel's gym. We'll see how
that goes!!
Food

Breakfast

100 calorie bagel w/light creamcheese - when purchasing this bagel I actually went
for the whole wheat kind, but was shocked to see that the

regular bagels, had 3 grams more fiber and less sodium then the whole wheat bagel.
Definitely something to make you go "hmmm...". The light

cream cheese was actually fantastic. I was shocked to see it really didn't taste
different and was half the fat and calories. Definitely a good choice.

banana

Mid-Morning Snack

1/3 of hubby's leftover sausage, egg, biscuit from McDonalds - had a hunger
headache and just grabbed whatever, this was the begining of the melt

down experienced today.

Post Dinner

Ben & Jerry's chunky monkey on a sugar cone - I got 2 scoops because it was 30
cents more then a single scoop, however, I realized I would have

been fine w/one scoop but still continued to eat the rest of it. While I was in line, I
saw all of the lower options but simply didn't want them.

Water

Exercise - head was killing me, but I wanted and felt the immediate need to workout
after lunch

Jump rope - 150 jumps

Biceps - 50 reps each side

Overhead tricep/biceps

Today started out well and at the end of the evening we were out late and I started
to throw all good sense out of the window. Around 11:30pm while we were out I
started to want some Banana King. The bad thing about this place is that whenever
you want it, they are open! 24 hours a day! I started out saying I just wanted a
steak pincho, but then I started thinking about the steak sandwich and the milk
shakes and I said to hubby, "Will you split a steak sandwich with me?" and he
answered the wrong answer "Yes". So I was really about to go, but then kept
thinking about it and finally said "No. I'm taking control of my life. I'm not going." So
he was like "Ok".

It wasn't a big deal for him because he's on a program also (read more about
hubby's program below). But not even two minutes later, I started to second guess
my decision and was like, "Well...maybe we'll go and I'll just get the steak
pincho..that's protein."

But by then hubby was like "No, let's go home." So in the end, he did help me
because I would have been there and would have probably broken down and got
everything I said I wouldn't get.

*I don't believe I have mentioned it here, but for the past two months, my husband
has also started a weight loss plan.

At this point he has lost just about as much as me, in half the time and is looking
GREAT, even though I thought he looked great before.

But if that's one thing I've learned in this process, its not about what others think of
you, it's what you think of yourself that matters.

If you're not happy with yourself, do something about it and don't worry about who
thinks that you already look fine. So he's been on his grind and it's paying off
greatly!

Food

Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake - 98% water, splash of rice milk, 1 scoop of muscle milk,
strawberries & 1/2 banana - I tallied this shake to be about 300 calories

whole tomato w/veganaise - using calorieking.com, I tallied this sandwich to be
about 500 calories. I was really disappointed with that. I could have had 2 lean
cuisine meals for the amount of this one little sandwich. I have to start finding ways
to better utilize the calories I'm taking in so its more heartier things that fill me up.

Didn't make it to the gym, but still made time to do something on the Wii, which is
always a good alternative.

So I decided I would get me a nice soup for lunch today from Whole Foods and I
would indulge in some of their homemade tortilla chips and cornbread to go with my
soup. So the soup was great, I really wanted New England Clam Chowder, but all
they had was Cod and Corn Chowder, it didn't disappoint in the least. The
chips..ahh..they were amazing as usual, I definitley need to stay away from them.

But when I attempted to eat the cornbread....there was an issue with it...I'll leave it
at that....

schedule, but not forgetting me in the process!

Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake - rice milk, 1/2 banana, strawberries, muscle milk powder,
greens powder - I've finally done the math on the amount of calories

It's definitely filling and replaces a meal...not to mention it's delish!

Was still craving after breakfast this morning. I developed a slight hunger headache
that could have been eased by a poppyseed bagel with cream cheese and a coffee
from Dunkin Donuts, but I fought the feeling and continued to drive past D&D. High
Five to me!

So I pass that hurdle, just to get into work from vacation and see a box of chocolates
and a bottle of wine on my desk from my manager for

Christmas...sweet..

I brought my lunch today, but it was freezing in the job so I went downstairs for a
soup, but ended up grabbing lunch also. Before lunch, I sent someone a photo of
the gourmet dessert platters I made over the holidays and I started to crave the job
cookie, but I left it downstairs!

During the day, I started craving again and opened up the box of chocolates, but I
closed it back. So I got thru the day without eating the chocolates or

opening up the wine...I guess that makes this a good day!!

I also intook about 3 bottles of water- I've been slacking with the water intake lately,

I made it to Cynthia's class this morning and noticed I kept up pretty well. I feel
good about this!

Here is my status I had on facebook today:

"I'm sitting here comparing the pictures from when I started this journey 3 months
ago. I can truly see a difference and am proud of what I've accomplished so far even
though I still have a long way to go. I definitely lost some motivation through the
holidays and am just hoping/praying I can get it back up...everyday is going to be a
fight, but I know it can be done…slowly but surely..."

This prompted a response that really put everything back into perspective for me as
to why I started this journey in the first place:

"Focus on the effort, not the results. Most important thing is better health.
Everything else is a bonus".

These words of wisdom came from my uncle. When I think back on it, my uncle has
been into health as long as I can remember. I remember him pulling his vegetables
and fish out the fridge when I was younger and drinking his protein shakes. He's had
a gym in his house forever; he's always been into health. I completely forgot about
this because it's just his way of life. It's his lifestyle. It's normal. It's everyday…

That's where I want to be…going to be a fight, but I know it can be done..slowly but
surely...

Happy New Years!
I did weigh-in today! Feeling good even though I didn't keep off all the weight I lost
this month. I was a bit disappointed because by the 23 I was down about 10lbs but
managed to gain half of that back very quickly within a week's time.

I won't let that get me down though. I'm still feeling good and am hopeful that this
year will be the year I can officially say I got the weight off and kept it off.

I can't help but start to do calculations though. If I can lose approximately 7lbs each
month, I can be down to 160 by the time of my sister's wedding and if I push it a
little, I can be down to 145 or even 135 by the summer time…What?! That would be
awesome… but, let me just take this one day at a time…

I got on the scale and yes, some of the water weight has gone off, but I have still
managed to gain back about half of the weight that I lost this month, in less than
two weeks. I hope this feeling like a loser goes away.

So I made it to the gym today, which is always a positive thing. I have a lot of
running around to do today and I believe we're going to my sister in laws house for

when I checked it last week. Why am I upset? I really shouldn't be..but I am..big
time. Some of it has to be water weight, because there is no way the scale could go
up that much in such a short period of time! Or maybe I'm just in denial. I have
been eating a lot lately, but my best friend in the world is in town also...I don't
know...

So being that I'm still on vacation, I was able to workout in the gym for almost 2
hours today even though I'm still in pain from playing on the Wii…I definitely won't
be able to make up for what I've done to myself over the past couple of days, but
working out still makes me feel better.

My body is hurting from playing the Wii with the girls from last night! Today I
attempted to make the mango goat cheese salad that I had earlier this month when
me and the girls went to Negrill Village Restaurant in NYC. It took the bite away, but
no cigar!! I guess I'll have to just make a second trip back there to get the real
thing!
Later today I had a crazy craving for sweets and ate the candy that I keep around to
make my gourmet pretzels and apples! It wasn't even that good, but it didn't stop
me from grabbing the next thing in hopes of it being better then the previous!

Me and my girls finally hooked up to exchange gifts yesterday and I received a jump
rope, a resistance band and a big container of Muscle Milk powder, just to name a
few of the exercise pieces I received. So even though I'm unable to go to the gym on
Sundays at this time, I was able to pull out my pieces this morning and get some
exercise in.

This evening, me and the girls decided to get together and do some working out on
the Wii. We were up to the Wii hours of the morning playing the game. I had no idea
boxing was that intense. Needless to say even though I've had the Wii for a while, I
haven't really done the boxing. Well I really need to start because that workout was
nooo joke! It felt really good to get the workout in considering before we started we
ended up having drinks and nachos! We definitely have to hookup to do the Wii
again, but we all agreed, minus the drinks and snacks beforehand next time!

That's all I can remember from the morning – I was cooking and moving and doing

AM

So this morning, I am preparing for our annual Christmas Dinner at the house so I
decided not to go the gym early this morning. However, 2-3hours later, I can feel my
body craving for the gym. The thought quickly came to just skip since today is a
cleaning day, but that thought quickly left also. My body is begging me to go to the
gym this morning and I will listen even though it will really cut into my goals for the
day.

Today was the start of my vacation. It felt good to go to the gym in the middle of the
day! I was able to take my time and even went to the exercise room and utilized the
exercise bar, the ab ball and did some dances to my music. I could definitely get
used to going to the gym in the afternoon and just chilling.

However, I also learned today; DO NOT talk on the phone while you're at the gym! I
was doing my exercises and remembered an important phone call I needed to make.
I decided to make it right there in the gym as it was important but not a professional
call where I needed complete silence. Needless to say, the person aggravated me so
much, that once I got off the phone I just walked out the gym mad!
So next time, if I need to talk to someone if will happen before or after the gym, not
during as it messed up my flow and I probably would have ended up staying a little
longer if it wasn't for that. Other than that..it was still a good day at the gym. As
always, I need to work on my food intake.

AM

I'm tired of feeling so wishy-washy and up and down about my weight and overall
health choices. I feel some level of guilt over yesterday's snacking. By the way, I'm
tired of feeling guilty also. I prefer that I just cheat and enjoy it and get over it
without all the guilty feelings. However, it is what it is…whatever that is.. :-D

All jokes put aside though, I feel disgusting this morning, so I woke up at my normal
workout time of 5am and the first thing I had was a tall 20oz glass of water to clear
my system out. I proceeded to get another 10oz and then remembered someone
said drink water with lemon in the morning and added some lemon juice to another
10oz of water. I just want to clear myself out because even though I still feel that
good soreness from working out this week, I still feel a bit yucky inside.

There's still all these big chewy cookies left over from yesterday which isn't helping
me this morning either. I'm still trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast.

I'm going to find my advantages for weight loss card for real this time. In the
meantime I'll just try to refocus. I'll be back with how the day went God willing...

We had our first snowstorm of the 2009-2010 winter season today. I started looking
for healthier recipes for Christmas dinner and saw this chocolate chip cookie recipe
and thought, wouldn't it be nice to make some homemade chocolate chip cookies
and have hot chocolate to go with it? Of course the kids loved this idea.

So that's what we did and I indulged greatly. I basically did what the book says don't
do and I just kept on going. I ate some pasta once it was late and had a midnight
snack of alcohol and cookies. In my head I kept saying I shouldn't be doing this, but
there wasn't any stopping me. I kind of got in that frame of mind where you just eat
and have comfort food because its cold and everyone is stuck at home. I don't know
why snowstorms give me the mind frame that its ok to indulge in comfort foods.

I recently remember hearing someone say that they were making a comfort food
dish for an impending snowstorm and I thought to myself "that is soo fat". But I did
the same exact thing, still thinking and indulging in fat thoughts.

Perhaps I really should locate my advantages to losing weight card to see if they
start to help me again.

Didn't make it to the gym today. The plan was to go this afternoon since I was
getting off of work early, but I had soo much running around to do, so it didn't end
up happening. I should have just went in the morning as I normally do and if
anything, went twice if possible.

I have reminders set to go off when its time for me to look at my advantages to
weight loss cards, but I can't find the cards. I think they're in my gym bag and I
need to place them in my pocketbook since I don't take my gym bag everywhere. I
think they have actually helped the last two days and I want to keep that up.

Today was our company's holiday luncheon at Carrabas, which is an Italian
restaurant; my husband's favorite. I was really looking forward to having their
calamari which is excellent, but the menu was set and calamari wasn’t on it. I did
alright at the luncheon, but I knew my lunch was heavy and that it would be my
dinner also. I ran errands from 3pm-11pm so I really felt like I worked it off by the
end of the night.

off my lunch running errands from 3pm-11pm.

Started off the day going to the gym and had a good work out.
Around breakfast time though, I started feeling some cravings and unlike yesterday
morning, I gave in.

It's getting to the point where I don't even want to discuss what I'm going through
with anyone because I don't want to bring down anyone that's doing well and I don't
want to encourage those who are on the borderline like me to tip over on the bad
side either.

I feel like at this point that I need a professional trainer or someone like that who
works with people like me for a living and that won't be wrongfully influenced by
what I'm going through.

Due to the days I've been having, I decided to start the process as per the "How to
Think Like a Thin Person" book and started to write out the advantages to losing
weight. The goal is to look at these cards each day at least 3 times a day as this is
supposed to help keep it fresh in the mind what my goals are.

Small coffee w/ cream & sugar – giving in muscle

this in a very long time

Diet coke – I actually think it's comical that I ordered a Diet Coke with this meal

Dinner – attempted to take control and just had some tea as it was getting late and
started to write out the advantages to weight loss on a couple of business cards.
Chamomile tea w/ honey

Considering yesterday was soo blah, today started out really well. I went to the gym
and decided to get on the elliptical like old times. It felt soo great!! It reminded me
why I love the elliptical. When I lost all my weight previously it was because of the
love affair between me and the elliptical. I would always hear, you have to switch it
up, do the bike, do the treadmill. But I couldn't leave my elliptical and we just
meshed well. So today, I was reminded of this and by the time I was done, I was all
sweaty and felt like I actually accomplished something! It's time to resume my
elliptical reign!

So, I had some cravings this morning, but instead of giving in, I whipped out my
orange and fiber one bar for breakfast, which made me feel good.

To make the day start off even better, I ended up talking to my coworker who lost
over 100 pounds. I'm amazed when I look at her everyday and see how she had to
make a complete life change to get where she is at and to stay there. We had the
longest talk probably ever. I was asking her fifty million questions and I was just
amazed how she went on a two week cruise and stayed true to herself and didn't
gain not one single ounce. That shows that when vacation and holidays come, I can't
take a break..it's really a lifestyle change bottom line.
So, after speaking to her, I was good. I always get on a high after I speak to
someone who has accomplished their goals and are able to maintain, they are truly
an inspiration to me.

However, that boat sailed and sailed quickly today. I'm not exactly sure what
happened, but I noticed the cravings coming back around lunchtime, so I said, let
me get up and go microwave my lunch. So I go into the break room and there's this
5lb tin of Danish cookies sitting there. I love Danish cookies, so I indulged with two,
then three... You can see where this is going.

The Danish cookies must have hit some sort of nerve, because it was all downhill
after that and I ended up downstairs at the Café later in the afternoon getting a
Peppermint Mocha and a Job Cookie.

I felt disgusting afterwards. I swear eating this badly makes me feel like I'm having
some sort of an affair. I feel like I've cheated, like I'm dirty.. So when I got home, I
attempted to recover from the madness, by having a greens shake for dinner to clear
me out. Of course I felt better after having it.

This isn't easy…but I really look forward to the day when it does become easy and
when eating healthy is like second nature to me as if I've known of nothing else. I
know its possible and that's my goal.

Breakfast

Fiber One Chocolate and Oats Bar – I was having severe cravings and the resistance

I made it to Cynthia's class this morning and noticed that my energy level was soo
much different from last week. Due to having this website, its great because I'm able
to look back to see what the differences are. So I realized that last Friday night I
went out, but I had a really healthy light meal which made me feel like a million
bucks. However, last night, I had a fried meal which wasn't even good, along with
alcohol and etc. So I'm thinking the damage I did to myself last night, probably had
an effect on me in class today. However, I still made it to class which is half the
battle.

I did better with the eating today. We were out in NY again and you'll never believe
it, but we ended up back at BBQ's. Let me tell you, I was sitting in there like, how
am I going to explain on the website that I ended up BACK in BBQ's after last night.
Fortunately though, my little man mentioned that he wanted to go play games, so I
decided to run with that and was like, maybe we should just go eat at Dave &
Buster's. Then I said, you know what, let's hit up that pizza joint we saw where the
line is outside the door, grab a slice and then go to Dave & Buster's. So we really left
BBQ's and did that. I had two slices, but felt really good about leaving BBQ's and felt
like I worked the pizza off in Dave & Buster's playing games. We had a good time.

Decided to opt out of going to the gym this morning to clean my house instead.
Going to the gym is excellent and is needed, but its imperative that my surroundings
be clean and in order for me to have a clear head. So I definitely felt good about the
decision to stay and clean, however, my body was craving for a good workout, so I
did some leg lifts as I was climbing the basement stairs!

Ended up going out to NY tonight and knew ahead of time that we were going to one
of my favorite restaurants, BBQ's. However, I didn't mentally prepare for being
good, so I really wasn't. My resistance muscle showed up, but my giving in muscle
beat him down to a pulp, he didn't have a chance, but he put up a good fight.

So I was fighting with myself about whether I should get my regular meal or
something different. So I ended up getting something different thinking it was better
than my normal ribs, chicken and fries meal, but it really wasn't. It was still fried and
I still had fries and a drink with it. At one point I noticed that I was eating in a
trance, because I wasn't necessarily enjoying it, but I still kept stuffing fry after fry
into my mouth. I really felt like I would have been better off if I had of just got my
normal meal, enjoyed it and said, ok, I'll work this off. So instead I still had a bad
meal and didn't enjoy it. Not a good combination at all.

Food

Breakfast

2 eggs, 1 turkey sausage patty, 1 slice of wheat bread

Meal replacement shake

of a Texas size, however, I still got the shot of alcohol but realized too late that the
shot is good for a Texas size, but too much for a regular size so the drink ended up
being too strong and not even good, so it was just a waste of A LOT of calories..

Made it to the gym this morning and was able to reach a mile in 16 minutes. I'm
going to work on decreasing the minutes it takes me to get to a mile.

So tonight there was a Parent Teacher conference right about the time of Cynthia's
class. I made sure to pack all my things so I could make it to at least ½ of the class.
After I met with the teacher, I ran to the bathroom to change and low and
behold…my gym pants were missing!! The disappointment I felt in my heart was
extreme! I knew if I went home I wouldn't make it, so I ended up spending the time
catching up on some Christmas shopping, but of course, I stopped first to one of my
favorite healthy restaurants, HLS in Maplewood.

Doing ok today. Had some issues here and there with cravings and wanted
something sweet tonight so I went to the store and bought a few 100 calorie or less
sweets for nights like tonight. I really want to eat one now, but its already late. If
I’m going to do it, I prefer to do it earlier while I’m still up and about. I didn’t make
it to the gym tonight, but will be on the Wii once I finish updating the site. I’m
putting it down as done so I actually do it and don’t go to sleep.

So I’m finally able to announce that my little sister got engaged the day before
Thanksgiving!! The date of the wedding is May 29, so now I have something else to
motivate me! Regardless if I lose all of the weight in the world, I will still be the
biggest thing in her wedding since everyone is small! But if I continue to do just as I
have the past couple of months, I will be a nice, toned and fit weight for the
wedding.

So my goal is to continue as I have been doing at minimum. I hope to be down at
least another 10-15lbs before we go for dress fittings and it will be ideal if I can be
down 20-30lbs by the time of the final fitting. I just have to keep at it. It’s definitely
not going to be easy, but I don’t plan on giving up.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Woke up late for the gym and actually fought with myself while I was still in the bed
about whether I should still go or not. I kept thinking “well you ate late last night
and it wasn’t a good meal, so if you don’t go to the gym this morning, you’re going
to feel even worst”. Then I was thinking, you know what, I’ll just do some Wii Free
step this morning. But then I realized, I prefer to do the Wii when I know for a fact
there is no way I can get to the gym that day. Also, I know its better for me to
continue to get up and go to the gym, because it will help with making this a habit.

I don’t know how it happened, but somehow I really got up and still made it to the
gym just for a quick 1/2hr. I was very proud of this last minute decision!

So, later this evening, I don’t know if it was still a craving or if its just something
that I put in my mind that I was going to do, but I made a point to go back out to
Whole Foods tonight, except earlier, to get the New England Clam Chowder and
some corn bread.

I went to pick up the second biggest container, but realized I would eat it all, so
instead I picked up the smallest container and the smallest piece of cornbread, but
they’re all wrapped pretty big, so it was still enough cornbread for 3-4 people. If that
wasn’t enough, I saw that they make homemade tortilla chips, which they keep by
the soups. I saw one pack was a dollar so I got it... HUGE MISTAKE!! I think I’m in
love. Those homemade tortilla chips were soo good, but you can tell they fry
them...they’re homemade for goodness sakes. They were awesome though and I
had my full share of them and the worst part is, they’re larger than the average
tortilla chip. Now I have something else I need to stay away from.

My blackberry has crashed where these notes were kept. I’m putting in what I
remember, but hopefully will be able to recover my notes once I receive my new
blackberry! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Today was my first time having coffee in months and it was the best coffee ever! I’m
going to have to put my good foot forward not to start getting it again on a regular
basis.

So I had a really intense craving tonight. I had the taste for some New England Clam
Chowder and some cornbread. However, I was trying to think where this craving
came from and I really think it was because of how cold it’s been. I made a point to
make a trip out to Whole Foods to get it, but it was late and I got there right at
10pm and all the soup and bread was gone.

I was devastated and started towards home just looking to see what other stores
could possibly have soup this late at night. As I was approaching Quik Check I
realized they have soups, however, when I went in, I saw their soups were done for
the night. Then I decided to drive a mile out the way to go to the other Quik Check
to see what they had. They didn’t have Clam Chowder, but they did have some
chicken pot pie left. I went to grab the LARGEST container to get what was left, but
as I was looking at it, I realized that it was creamy and full of calories and if I’m
going to go that far, I at least want the New England Clam Chowder.

So I decided to leave the Chicken Pot Pie soup and went next door to the Chinese
Restaurant and got some wonton soup which I figure would be less calories, since its
more of a clear broth. That in itself would have probably been a better choice, but I
got some crispy noodles and a shrimp egg roll with it. I believe it was my first night
in a while eating very late, it was around 11pm by the time I got home and situated
to eat it.

AM

I'm not sure what it was, but I woke up feeling so freaking svelte this morning! I felt
so good, that I was prompted to check out my current weight. It was nice to see that
I was back to where I was for weigh-in a couple of days ago.
I'm going out with the girls tonight, so I won't be able to make it to pilates, but I
made sure to get a 1/2 hour in of Wii Free step and if I can get to the gym sometime
today before we go out, that will be even better, but if not, at least I made sure to
work out and get it out the way early.

So even though I was feeling svelte, I still felt like I was going to get sick again.
However, after working out and having my meal replacement shake, I'm feeling
better. I'll be sure to take my vitamin c and keep taking it so I can really nip this
bug that's going around the house.

PM

My blackberry has crashed where these notes were kept. I’m putting in what I
remember, but hopefully will be able to recover my notes once I receive my new
blackberry! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I was so proud when I went out with the girls tonight because my “resistance
muscle” was in full control and didn’t waiver. We ended up going to Negrill’s Village
in the city and it ended up being great. I ordered the Mango Goat Cheese Salad w/
Salmon on the side and I was amazed that a salad could taste so good. It was a
mixture of flavors and textures and it tickled my taste buds and left me wanting
more. There was a mixture of cranberries, candied walnuts, goat cheese, mango,
tomatoes and spring mix.

The salmon is a whole other discussion. It was phenomenal! It is definitely the best
salmon I have ever tasted. It was a nice size and it was cooked to perfection. So
flaky and moist and the seasonings were out of this world. This is my first time
ordering a salad as an entrée in years and I was not disappointed. I was impressed
and I know the bar for salads has definitely been raised after visiting Negrill’s Village
tonight.

Made it to the gym this AM! I got there late, but I knew I had to do something.
Today makes a whole week that I haven't been to the gym, even though I've worked
out at home. I think its important to remind my body what I'm supposed to be doing
and where I'm supposed to be at that time of the morning.

I also managed to make Cynthia's class tonight! It was good as usual. I really felt
the endorphins going and felt like I was able to keep up better than usual. It was
nice. For once when class was over, I wanted to keep going!
So I decided today that I have to make a decision, a conscious decision to make a
change. I gained two pounds before Tuesday's weigh-in and its looking worst only a
couple of days later. I'm seeing that reverting to prior habits (stuffing & mac n
cheese) will put back on the weight and fast. At minimum I have to be able to
maintain the loss. Simply put, I have to maintain a healthy lifestyle and dipping off
days at a time for the holidays cannot be an option.

Tuesday, December 1, 2009 – TWO MONTH PROGRESS RESULTS
ARE IN!!

So, I'm feeling pretty good about the progress I made this month. I wanted to get
under 200lbs and I did it! I wasn't expecting to lose 10lbs though, but am proud that
I was able to get under that mark and I have no intentions of ever seeing it again!

Good Riddance 200lbs and up!
I'm noticing the inches are falling also. My butt seems to have deflated a bit. I could
use to lose some more, so I'm definitely not complaining, but I do like having a
booty, which is why I've been doing the butt blaster at the gym to firm up those
muscles!

Alright, let's get down to the real business here. There is a lot of room for
improvement with my diet. If I was to actually stick to my initial plan, I really believe
the changes would be amazing.

I've been eating Thanksgiving leftovers since last Friday and have been indulging in
desserts, such as today with eating the last Audrey Criss cupcake and some sugar
cookies… I really, really, really have to refocus.

My plan is to read this book which I still haven't had time to get into yet and do the 6
week plan outlined in it, which will allegedly help me change my thinking which will
lead me to permanent weight loss.. A fluke? I don't know, I guess we'll see as soon
as I read it!

So what's my goal for the month of December? It would be really sweet to get under
190 this month. However, I may be stretching it with all the holiday cooking and
partying that will be going on. But I'm hoping that I will be able to refocus on what
the ultimate goal is which is to lead a healthier lifestyle regardless of what holiday is
coming up.

Please check out the blog post from Nostonun on 11/24. I really think what he
posted is in line with what my book discusses. I really think changing the way I think
about food may be the cure to my illness. I can't wait to find out.
So today I had some struggles. My little one is sick, so it's been constant running to
take care of him along with attempting to get work accomplished for the job. So by
the end of the day, I was just frustrated and tired.

Fortunately my husband recognized my mood when he got in, so he took the kids off
my hands and ran me a bath with chamomile and lavender and provided me with
some green tea. It's amazing what a mood changer it was. I feel sooo much better.

So that's a mental note I have to remember. When feeling crappy, take a bubble
bath, even if for only 15 minutes to get a renewed sense of energy/spirit!

Looks like the Thanksgiving leftovers have finally caught up to me. The weight loss
was looking pretty sweet, but I see that I've gained 2lbs before weigh-in tomorrow.

about it and I'm sure folks are tired of reading about it. I just have to be about it.

Since I couldn't make it to the gym today, I made it a priority to get on the Wii Fit. It
felt good to get it done and out of the way early!

I have to admit since I'm noticing that the scale is going down faster than I expected
that I have been a bit more lax with the eating. I have to get back on point, because
all these Thanksgiving leftovers are going to eventually catch up to me.

This evening I took my husband some butter pecan ice cream, but I had a cup full
myself. He said "What do you think you're doing?" I was like "Oh, I'm good, I can
have some." He went to take some out of my cup and was like, "No you can't, don't
let me go online and start telling the real story". So, I had all intentions of eating the
entire cup of ice cream, but he kind of brought me back to reality long enough for
me to give him all but about ½ cup of the ice cream. I guess I need that dose of
reality every once in a while, especially this past week since the scale has been
moving in the right direction but I haven't been stressing about my eating. I know
that can only occur but for so long.

AM

Ok, so I keep getting on the scale to see if it's really true or if it's a joke. The number
keeps going down even though I haven't been strict with my eating. I am trying to
make mental notes not to eat anything too late so when I'm sleeping my body is only
burning fat and not the food I just ate...perhaps this is helping?

I finally took my husband's advice this morning to have a meal replacement shake
without the rice milk. It doesn't taste much different besides for the fact that with
the rice milk, the shake is richer and creamier. However, without the rice milk I'm
taking off at least hundred calories, so that's cool. Let's see how long it holds me for
this morning.

PM

The meal replacement shake got me through until about 11:30am. By then I was
ready to eat again, but perhaps that was because I had made a big brunch for the
family.

I didn't make it to the gym this morning, but I made sure to work out on the Wii Fit
and actually ended up getting caught up on it. I had to pull myself off so I could get
some other things accomplished. It's a nice alternative for when I can't get out to
the gym.

Friday, November 27, 2009 - Black Friday!!

So today is the day that the girls and I stay up all night and all morning shopping.
This year was a little different because Toys R Us opened up at 12am and Old Navy
opened up at 3am, so we actually ended up being on the road around 1am when we
normally start around 4am.

I definitely didn't start the day off right. My fear of the Audrey Criss cupcakes came
true. A few hours earlier, during Thanksgiving, I did really good and had my one
cupcake. However, some hours later when I was back home, I bumped my head and
devoured two of them standing up with milk…ugghh…Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed
it. But when I think back on it, I always feel some sort of remorse/guilt.
So being out and about in the elements I gradually started to get sick. By 5am I had
just about lost my voice and all I could think about was calling it quits early so I
could get home and fix myself with some natural supplements.

Fortunate for me, hubby realizes when I'm out of commission I can't take care of
him, so as soon as I got in he made me up a nice concoction of veggies and vitamin
C to get me back on my feet. It definitely helped.

When I woke up about 7 hours later after having this drink, my body felt soo good so
I wanted to put something good in my body! I was craving a nice salad or
something just light and healthy when I originally had just wanted some leftovers.

However, I didn't take advantage of the feeling and make myself a salad, so I ended
up eating the leftovers...

Food:

Between 12am-1am

2 Audrey Criss cupcakes & approx 2 cups of 2% milk

Around 11am

1/4 cup Trail mix
12 Anna lemon cookies (2 servings)

Small slice of sweet potato pie

Veggie Vitamin C concoction

Around 7pm

Chamomile tea

Piece of pie crust

Around 9pm

Fried cabbage

Garlic green beans

Cranberry sauce

Stuffing

Turkey

Macaroni and Cheese

Brown rice & black eyed peas

Roll w/butter

Sweet potato casserole

Around 12am

Mint green tea – I wanted some Anna's cookies with this, but since it was late,
decided not to do it. However, I did take a swipe of some chocolate icing from a cake
and did contemplate whether to have chocolate cake with my tea. Honestly if the
icing had of tasted good I may have had chocolate cake with mint tea. Fortunately, it
didn't move my taste buds.
Exercise

No formal exercise – however, I did walk several miles shopping from 1am-11am!

Thursday, November 26, 2009 – Thanksgiving!!

AM

I was practically up all night cooking, but still managed to make it to Cardio Jam
Class with Meeka and Jasmine!! It was awesome!! Desi and Cynthia WORKED US
OUT!! It was soo cute to see the girls trying to stick it in there. I can't even front, I
was tired as heck and I know I didn't have the full energy that was needed to get the
most out of the class, however, we all got through it and it was fun! I loved the last
10-15 minutes of class when Cynthia turned on the reggae and we were doing
dances and march lines…it was soo much fun! It was an excellent way to start off the
holiday!!

PM1

Went to my sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Since I ate at home, I
decided I would have dessert at my SIL's house. So I brought my chai tea and two of
my Audrey Criss sweet potato cupcakes. I made a big production to ensure that I
was sitting down with my tea and eating my cupcake so I could fully concentrate on
it and enjoy it. I only ended up eating one at the time which was cool. However, by
the time the night progressed I ended up eating some other things.

But all in all, I'm proud of myself, cause normally I would have had Thanksgiving
dinner at my house, later at my SIL's house and then would have had desserts from
her house and other houses that we visited, so I did good overall.
PM2

While at my SIL's house, I received a text from my Pilates instructor that class was
cancelled for tomorrow. I texted her back saying thanks for letting me know and as I
was saving her number in my phone, the baby was messing with the phone at the
same time and dialed her by mistake. It was funny though because we actually
ended up talking and she basically encouraged me not to let the holidays slow me
down and to keep going. Her talk was actually motivating and I appreciated her
taking out the time to even care enough to encourage me to stay on the right track.

AM

I got on the scale this morning and it is definitely my friend. But I'm nervous
because my best friend in the world is due to arrive and I'm nervous it will mess with
the results which are better than I expected so far….

Yesterday my body was craving for exercise. It was craving to the point where I'm
doing squats in the kitchen while I'm cooking and backwards leg lifts in the
supermarket!

This morning I woke up late and wasn't going to go to the gym, but since my body
has been craving for a workout, I knew I needed to go. I wasn't going to have much
time in the gym, but I made up my mind, I would go even if it was just for 15
minutes. It was the best decision I could have made! The workout felt like a much
needed shot!

PM

I picked up the Audrey Criss Cupcakes this morning! I put them in the trunk so I
wouldn't be looking at them all day. I ended up changing my order at the last
minute, so I have one dozen sweet potato cupcakes w/cream cheese icing. Audrey
saved me a red velvet cupcake to sample. I am planning to have that at some point
today.

The Red Velvet Cupcake Sample

..it started with noticing that some of the cream had gotten on the napkin...so I gently
picked the cream off the napkin with my finger and hesitantly licked it…then I took
another taste of the cream and then another.. it was sinful...and now I'm crashing from
all the sugar!! The red velvet was a thumbs up! - minus the crashing!

Food:

cupcake order which I pick up tomorrow. I'm scared for me. I also didn't get really

I'm currently preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. I've decided to change things up a
little bit and not make as much since there is only three of us. So I'm changing up
my regular stuffing recipe which contains pork sausage and creating a "Cranberry
Apple Stuffing" which contains turkey sausage. I'm looking forward to trying that
out.

For the macaroni and cheese, I have decided to use Patti Labelle's recipe. I know
you're saying, "what's healthier about that"? Well Patti's recipe uses about 1 ½
POUNDS LESS cheese then what I currently use in my macaroni and cheese that
everyone raves about. It's a heart attack on a plate, so I'll be using Patti's recipe
which will cut down on the cheese considerably.

That's really the only changes I've made besides for ensuring that I'm using smoked
turkey instead of ham hocks in my black eyed peas. That was a hard decision
because the ham hocks really give it a nice flavor, but I will attempt to incorporate
the vegetable and chicken broths a little more to help with that.
The remainder of the menu will consist of the regular sweet potato casserole, turkey,
fried cabbage, garlic green beans, dinner rolls and peach cobbler. We'll see how this
goes...

Food:

Breakfast

1 cup five bean stew

Mid Morning Snack

1/4 cup trail mix

Lunch

Lean Cuisine Mushroom Spinach pizza

Izze 90 calorie drink – after lunch started having cravings

Chocolate almond bark (the size of 2-3 hershey pieces)

Mid Afternoon Snack

Grabbing handfuls of trail mix 1/2 - 3/4 cup

1/2 cup pistachios

Dinner
Tilapia (2)

Cheddar mashed potatoes (tasting while cooking) total of 1/4 cup

Tasted the mix vegetables while cooking

Started the morning off right by attending Cynthia's class. My little sister told me
that she wants to come to Cardio Jam on Thanksgiving morning to support me! How
sweet is that?! She just wants to come to show me moral support…I can dig
that…but I hope she knows what she's getting herself into. A class with Cynthia and
Desi?! I can't make any promises with how that will turn out, but I'm excited and
can't wait to dance it up with two of my favorite girls!!

I ended up at Sam's Club this morning in the midst of running errands. So normally I
try to dodge the food stations but I didn't eat breakfast after the gym since I was on
the run so I did end up partaking in the food samples…and they were good…

I was proud of myself though because I attended a 30 birthday party tonight and
was nervous about the food and alcohol. But there were great selections of healthy
food to choose from so I had no excuse. Also, I participated in the toast but didn't
drink the Verde which I heard was awesome! I also managed to get out on the dance
floor with my skinny jeans and heels on trying to break a sweat. It was kind of cool
because I noticed at times I was really trying to get into certain dances as we do in
class to maximize the workout. It was silly, but I felt like I got a nice little workout
from dancing.

Food:

Breakfast – Sam's Club Sample Food Stations

1/2 dinner yeast roll – I've been contemplating these and they were better than
expected. They were only giving out ¼ pieces, but I went back for a second. If I can
control myself, these rolls will definitely be making an appearance for Christmas
dinner.

Bbq wing fling

Lil beef smokie bbq sausage – I wasn't impressed

Mini crab cake – these were nice

1/4 cranberry trail mix – Ended up purchasing the trail mix and the pistachios from
the Girl Scouts, so I would have something to snack on while out running errands.

1/2 cup pistachios

Mid Morning Snack

N/A

Lunch

Shrimp, broccoli & Garlic sauce w/ white rice – I asked for them to give me ½ of the
rice that they normally give and only a small amount of garlic sauce. It was still a
good amount of rice, however, I would have normally ate all the rice and garlic
sauce, so it was a small move, but still a good move.

Dinner – 30th bday dinner

Grilled & Steamed veggies - broccoli, asparagus, portabella mushrooms, squash,
eggplant, green peppers

Salmon

Shrimp

Baked Chicken

AM

"Loser, Loser, Loser",that's the resounding line in my head this morning as I wake
up, its all I hear. To have such a great workout at the gym, speak to the melting lady
and then come home and eat penne pasta? Oh no, I'm seeing that my issues go
further than I thought. I'm at the gym this morning, but have decided to update the
site notes and start reading this book about "training the brain to think like a thin
person". Obviously I need a point of reference that I can refer to when I feel like
eating whatever, whenever. So I did the stationary bike for about 40 minutes
today...I need help...I hope this book is what I need.

PM
Went to Pilates tonight!! It was actually great!! I happened to be the only one that
showed up to class so it was a lot more pressure on me to perform, however, that
was good because it let me know that I CAN push myself harder then I have been
and to stick it out when I want to just stop doing a hard exercise.

Being that I was the only one, the instructor was able to completely focus on me to
ensure I was doing the moves right. It was good because I felt like the $10 I paid for
the class ended up being like a 1:1 training session AND I know I pushed myself
harder, due to the pressure of being the only one there.

So, it was difficult but having gotten through the whole class, I feel a sense of
accomplishment. It really ended up being a great class.

Food:

Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake – strawberries, banana, rice milk, muscle milk powder and
rice bran

Mid Morning Snack

Lunch
Apple walnut salad – the one I skipped out on from the other day...it was still soo
good!!

Mid Afternoon Snack

Thai Curry Meal #17 with a #2 hotness - chicken, string beans, onions, broccoli,
potatoes and green peppers – after eating this, I started craving for something sweet
so went by to see my co-worker who keeps treats on her desk faithfully.

1 Snickers minis

1 Twix mini

1 Baby Ruth mini

1 Reese cup mini

Dinner - late 10pm

Five bean stew w/ground turkey

I had to refocus from yesterday. I got on the scale to see the damage and I've
actually gone down a little from 3 days ago...ok that's better than I was expecting,
so I'm looking to go full force today starting back up. Goal: veggies, fruits, beans
and water. I will carry trail mix and a granola so I don't bump my head but will try
my best to keep the carbs low. I will be at Cynthia's class tonight and my girl Meek is
coming to the Cardio Jam class on Thanksgiving morning, so I'm excited cause I
know we will have a blast!

PM1

I made it to Cynthia's class and it was great because I got thru about 35 min before
I was ready to fall out! Afterwards I finally had a chance to have an in depth
conversation with the lady who melted before my eyes 5 years ago. It was soo
inspiring and I left the gym on a high. I used the opportunity to ask her a lot of
questions. She was saying how she changed her eating habits and kept reiterating
"its not a diet, we have to get that out our heads...it's about changing how we eat".

She let me know her intake which consists of a bowl or cereal or a protein shake for
breakfast, lunch is a salad with baked chicken or fish then she eats fruits and eats
dinner by 6pm. She asked what do I eat for lunch and I mentioned how I recently
started the healthy frozen meals and she suggested sticking to natural meals and
staying away from the frozen ones because they keep us fat. She said that she plans
her meals out in advance and bags her lunch.

I asked her what was she going to eat at Thanksgiving and she replied a salad and
baked chicken. She said, she doesn't eat a Thanksgiving meal on the regular so it's
not something she even desires. She said you will notice how your taste buds will
start to change and you won't even have a want for the other stuff. "You'll start
craving the baked chicken, the avocado. Do you like water? I love water, its soo
refreshing.." - her excitement level was out of the roof talking about these healthy
foods! The conversation went further but was definitely inspiring to hear from
someone who I watched melt away. It was cool.

PM2

Came in from the gym on a high this evening, however, that all changed when I
walked into the kitchen. Obviously Ron wasn't interested in the leftovers and ordered
penne pasta in vodka sauce with chicken…I love penne vodka sauce with chicken…
It's amazing how quick that high can just disappear and become obsolete when faced
with temptation.

Food:

Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake – strawberries, banana, rice milk, muscle milk and rice
bran

Snack

1/2 cup of trail mix

Lunch

2 slices of cheddar cheese toast

5 bean stew w/ ground turkey - 2 cups

Dinner - it was too late to eat

Orange

Exercise

Cynthia Funk class

Post Dinner * after the gym
It started out with 3 pieces of penne pasta and a slither of grilled chicken. Increased
to about a cup of penne pasta and a total of 4 slithers of grilled chicken - it was
11pm.

Hmm…well I got up early for the gym. That went pretty well. I was also able to get
into some pants that I wasn’t able to get into before. It was kind of funny though
because they are pin striped pants, but the stripes had a curve in the thigh area
because I wasn’t completely ready for them..they’ll probably fit just right if I go
down 5 more pounds.

Soo, the remainder of the day was a bust. At lunchtime I started craving for a philly
cheesesteak and onion rings. I had brought my apple walnut salad and lean cuisine
stuffed cabbage for lunch, but knowing I had that didn’t curb the cravings. After
what seemed like a long internal battle, I ended up going down to the cafeteria and
getting the philly chicken cheesesteak. I thought I was doing something when I told
the guy only one slice of cheese instead of three. I asked for onion rings, but there
weren’t any ready, so I told him never mind, I didn’t need them anyway. As I was
waiting for my co-worker, they had just pulled some freshly cooked onion rings out
of the oil. I gasped and said, “I have to get out of here” and went to pay for my
philly chicken cheesesteak. But I was looking at the sandwich after I paid for it and I
was thinking to myself “I really want the onion rings with this. If I can’t have the
onion rings, I don’t want this sandwich”. I really felt ripped in half only having the
sandwich…it was weird. After going back and forth, I finally said, I’m going to get the
onion rings. So I actually went back in the cafeteria and purchased them...

However, I felt good about it at the time. This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but I
felt…complete. I felt at peace when I got the onion rings to go with the philly
chicken. It sounds even weirder writing it out, but that’s how I felt. Real warm and
fuzzy. Perhaps that’s how an addict feels when they get that hit they’ve been
wanting?? I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Food:
Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake – ½ banana, strawberries, rice milk, muscle milk protein &
rice bran

Mid Morning Snack

1/3 cup of trail mix

90 calorie chocolate cherry granola bar

Lunch

Philly chicken cheesesteak w/mushrooms, peppers, 1 slice of cheese on a wheat
wrap w/bbq sauce

Onion rings w/bbq sauce & ketchup

A job cookie – oversized oatmeal, chocolate chip, walnut cookie

(2) 16oz waters

After a little while, felt sick like I was going to chuck, but I didn’t

Mid Afternoon Snack

Dinner

N/A – ended up having 2-3 spoonfuls of Jonathan’s 5 bean stew over brown rice

Just wasn’t hungry or looking to eat after that large lunch.

should run into the bed so I’m not tempted to eat this late...

Squeezed into another pair of size 14 pants today!! They were snug at the thighs
and loose at the bottom like bell-bottoms, but I was able to pull it off. Not to long
ago I couldn’t even get these pants over my hips, so I’m definitely feeling good
about being able to get back into them! I have to admit though, I couldn’t walk too
brisk though cause I thought I might rip something. They were just fitting!

Last night I went to bed late, overslept, then didn’t have time to prepare a breakfast
or lunch consisting of fruits/veggies/less carbs and didn’t make it to the gym. I just
wasn’t on point today overall.

So let’s discuss the small victories. I went to grab breakfast since I didn’t have time
to eat and ordered an egg sandwich on wheat bread. I started to form my lips to ask
for a small coffee, but right as it was about to roll off my tongue, I heard “tea” come
out. I looked around to see who just ordered tea for me, but no, that was me,
obviously making a spontaneous move to not order the coffee. Honestly, the tea was
soo horrible that I should have just ordered the coffee or just drunk my water. So
the point here is, I had tea instead of coffee..that’s a small victory because I was
even surprised when I asked for the tea in a split second decision.

This afternoon I was craving. I really wanted something sweet but decided to eat up
my carrots. Since my program has started I’ve gone through about 3 bags of carrots.
That’s a national record in my house. Before the carrots would always sit and go bad
and eventually be thrown out. So to have gone through about 3-4lbs of carrots is
pretty magnificent.

Ugghh..woke up late this morning and did not make it to the gym and did not work
out at home. Not a good start to me being on point the last two weeks of November.

So, if you read the previous updates, I couldn't just leave it like that with my girls. At
minimum, I had to let them know how I was feeling and that we would just have to
agree to disagree.

The work week has started so our only line of communication is through email, so I
wrote them an email that I'm going to share. However, I'm also going to share the
response that I received from at least one of them. I want to thank my friend for
allowing her email to be shared. I wasn't expecting that at all, but I appreciate it as
you get a feel for the other story, so it's not all one-sided from my end.

My email

Subject: Follow up to our discussion yesterday

Message: I just want to be up front with you guys. I think its good that we had

the discussion yesterday. However, even when we closed the discussion, I

still didn't feel like it was really closed. It seemed as though whenever I mentioned
something dealing with weight loss that there was this awkwardness on the phone,
like it was the invisible elephant in the room. After thinking some more about it, I
definitely don't think I'm being unbalanced and I'm surprised no one thought I was
being unbalanced when I was consistently gaining weight and never made it to the
gym at all.
I'm still making sure I have time for you girls, but I will have to pick and choose
certain things I do when there is a conflict with my gym schedule, just like in my
marriage when I have to pick and choose my battles. :-) Sooo, I hope you guys
understand. I still love you girls as I'm just as close, if not closer with you guys then
I am my actual sisters, but let's just agree to disagree with this one. I'll spare you

guys all the gory details of my process but feel free to ask if you're interested or you
can always hop online and see the latest.

Love you hoes.

Hey girlie,

I was thinking the same thing last night and this morning. It's funny you

mention it. I don't want you to feel like you can not share your journey

with me or that I am not supportive because I really am. I just feel

like.....I love you for you and not what you look like or because of weight

issues. You are my best friend and I want us to be able to share so much of

each other. So I guess I just felt a little left out at times when you

went full gusto with your weight loss journey and it just seemed like you

didn't have time for much else. I love that you are passionate about doing
this and you have my support to do this.

I have my own weight issues that I have to deal with also, so I know the

struggle. So understanding, that this is the way you have to approach this

battle helps me understand why you are making some of the choices that you

are making. I understand now, its all or nothing. I get it! Trust me I get

it.

That's what friends do they have misunderstandings and sometimes

miscommunications - they talk about it, love each other for it and get

through it. Please feel free to talk about the journey as much as you need

to - my ears and heart is always open.

Love,

So why did I share this? Well, before I posted this I received feedback that I
shouldn't post it. I shouldn't put my girls on blast. I should keep it between us. I
shouldn't get that deep. But I thought about it and decided that I would share
because this situation is directly related to my weight loss journey and that's the
whole purpose of this site. Trust me, I wasn't expecting it to touch on my
relationships at all, but surprise, surprise. I'm learning more than I expected from
this experience, but the good thing is, I don't think I'm the only one that's learning
something, so to me, that really makes it worth it…

Sunday, November 15, 2009 – TWO WEEK UPDATE INSIDE!!

I knew this journal would be about me dealing with my own demons in regards to
weight loss, but I didn't think it would be about the effects on my relationships.

So today, I'm on the phone with my girls and we're making plans because our annual
Black Friday gig is around the corner. So, we're attempting to arrange a date/time to
get together to map out our plans. It's decided that Friday will be the best day. So
then we have to come up with a time. So since we're meeting at my place, I
basically say the time that is good is for me. However, its kind of late, so the
question on the table is: Why so late? My response "Well I have class". Response:
Silence…

At this point, I knew where this was heading.

I'm not going to give a blow by blow, but in a nutshell, we let loose and really
opened up about how we were feeling. It was mentioned that it was felt that I was
being "unbalanced" in regards to the gym and not to forget my friends during my
journey.*This is probably stemming from me missing out on a day of shopping
yesterday to go to the gym or because I'm heading out early from our annual
Thanksgiving morning plans to go to the gym*

I was able to bring out my sour feelings from the past couple of days along with the
fact that I didn't think they understood where I was coming from. I went on to say
that the family was my priority and after that, my health/the gym would be
equivalent to eating and sleeping. It has to be done and it has to take priority. I'm
attempting to make a lifestyle change and none of us obviously have the answer, so
I have to do something different, to see different results. If I keep doing the same
thing, I'm going to continue to get the same results and I'm tired of that…
So we basically got how we were feeling out in the open and we closed the
discussion and moved on. So as we're talking, I'm mentioning my Christmas wish list
which actually includes things related to weight loss or working out. At this point
though, I'm noticing that anytime I mention something related to weight loss or
working out, there's an awkward silence and then I hear a nod of agreement..but the
delay… the awkwardness/silence was just soo loud..it was deafening. It was
definitely the invisible elephant on the telephone line. So I'm not use to this with my
girls and just decide at that point, that I won't share or talk to them about my
journey. This decision hurts because they are just as close to me as my sisters if not
closer. But I can't be deterred or made to feel uncomfortable about this change, so
I'll talk about it to those that are interested and if anyone else wants to know what's
going on, they can check out my journal online.

OK..so now I got my daily therapy out of the way….

TIME FOR THE TWO WEEK UPDATE!!

Alright, I don't know why I'm sounding all excited. I've only lost one pound in two
weeks. However, I definitely know I'm losing inches because my favorite pants are
sagging on me!!

I definitely need to step it up. Looking over the past two weeks I'm seeing that
besides for going to the gym a couple of times during the week, I'm actually slacking
off with the eating BIG TIME. I'm not eating 5-8 meals a day. I'm taking in Waaay
too many carbs. I'm definitely not drinking water like I should be. So these are all
factors as to why I'm only 1lb down in 2 weeks.

So, it's time to buckle down. I have to get it together. My goal for the next two
weeks (NOT INCLUDING THANKSGIVING DAY) is to cut down on the carb intake
besides for vegetables, fruits and beans. I need to really step it up so I can start
losing. I do not plan to overindulge, but I do plan to enjoy Thanksgiving and have a
small portion of everything, including a little dessert.
Speaking of dessert, I forgot to mention that on Friday I ordered some Audrey Criss
cupcakes for Thanksgiving.. Why am I sitting up here acting like I'm sharing…I guess
I will, but I want at least one sweet potato and one red velvet cupcake before
everyone devours them. They're really heavenly… But anyway, I have to be really,
really good in preparation for that…

I didn't mention this before, but I actually have a goal I want to meet for Dec. 1. I
don't know how it's going to happen without being strict, strict…but I want to break
under 200lbs for the Dec. 1 weigh-in. I would like to be at least 199lbs. At this
point..I think it will be difficult to do it in the time frame that I have, because I've
been chilling so hard, but I'm going to go for it! Wish me luck!!

Made it to Desi's class this morning! It was awesome as usual!! I got there before
8:30am to ensure I received a band for class so I could get in. I initially thought the
messy weather actually may have helped keep people inside, but by the time class
started it was still packed!

I saw someone from college at the gym this morning, she was also taking Desi's
class. We only spoke for a little while before class started, but I felt so refreshed
from the conversation, because it felt good to talk to someone that has the same
priorities, such as putting their health first. She probably doesn't even know that I
walked away from that short conversation feeling so revived. It shows me that I
have to keep dialogue open with those who are also looking to put their health first.
It's amazing how you can end up feeding off of another person's energy. Side Note:
It also makes me think how you can end up drained from a person who is
taxing and takes away your energy…interesting..

During class I decided to take notes of how I was feeling at certain times:

8:30am – class started

8:37am – completely spent after 7 minutes – how pathetic

8:55am – feeling good again, received another burst of energy

9:02am – completely spent..again!

Class continued until 9:30am, but I thought it was interesting how I was tired after 7
minutes of putting my all into it. I still was doing the exercises, but it wasn't the
same as with those minutes where I had energy to give it my all...

So today, I'm still feeling a certain kind of way about the suggestion I received
yesterday, to find another way to workout. Mind you, I never spoke what I was
thinking, but I knew it was bothering me because I was still thinking about it today
and am still feeling a little sour inside.

So I decided to speak to hubby and ask him his opinion. What did he say? Well, he
thought I shouldn't be upset because the suggestion wasn't to not work out; it was
too find another alternative instead of going to the gym for that particular day. I
thought about it and realized maybe I did over react a little.

Thinking about it, I guess that has some good connotations to it in a way though. It
shows that in some ways, I'm starting to become passionate about this health thing.
There are worst things to be, so I'll take it!

But get this, don't ask me how, but me and hubby ended up at the Cheesecake
Factory tonight! Mind you, I had time to turn away and run because the wait was an
hour and a half! But instead of running, during that time we went over to Barnes and
Noble. Side Bar: A friend from college emailed me when I started this journal and
she wrote me a very detailed email about how she went about her journey. It was so
moving. What was probably the most interesting was when she mentioned a book
that she read that "changed her life". To me, that's a very powerful statement for a
person to make, so while at Barnes and Noble, I looked up the book and got it.

It's by Judith Becker and it's entitled "The Diet Solution: How to Think Like a Thin
Person". I haven't started reading it yet, but I will definitely keep you posted when I
get around to it.

Ok, so back to the Cheesecake Factory. I was given the suggestion to get the Bang
Bang Shrimp and Chicken, however, I kept noticing how the person kept saying "It's
huge!" "It's so much!" "The Servings are Big!" I felt that was enough warning, so
when the food came out, before I even touched it, I asked for a small plate and a to-
go container. I proceeded to put some food on the small plate and shoved the rest
into the to-go container. Now I did sneak back in the container once to get some
sauce, but this plan of action basically worked!! I don't know if it was a mental thing
or not, but I was full just from the food that I put on the small plate! Keep in mind
about half or a little more than half was still in the to-go container!

As if that wasn't enough, then hubby orders the red velvet cheesecake, which is a
couple of layers of red velvet cake with cheesecake in between. I'm not going to
front here; I already told him I wanted a small piece of his cheesecake. So when it
comes out they bring out two forks and I'm like "No, I need a little plate". So Ron
replies, "I'll cut your piece and you can just eat it here". "Here" being the same plate
that the rest of the cheesecake is on. So I'm like "NO! I need a small plate". At this
point, he's looking at me like I've lost it. So I had to explain it to him.

"I need a small plate, so I can put my little piece on it and enjoy it and that's all I'm
having. If I keep my piece on the same plate as the rest of the cheesecake, I'll
probably keep digging for more, even after I've eaten my piece. So if I have a plate,
this is mine, this is what I'm going to enjoy and that's it".

So that's what I did and that's all of the cheesecake I had and I have to say, I am
proud of myself. Before this journey, I would have gotten a drink from the bar, an
appetizer, I would have ate the majority of the food AND I would have my own slice
of cheesecake and don't even THINK about looking over here like you're going to get
a bite of it! :-D
I feel that doing these things are small victories and I have to start giving myself
credit for those instead of dwelling on the fact that I shouldn't have been in The
Cheesecake Factory in the first place!!!

Today's workout goal is to go swimming and attend pilates class afterwards. Let's
see how this works out.....

I made it to swimming in this yucky weather, but it felt good to actually get out
there and do it!

I was furious though because I ran out of the pool to shower and get to Pilates in
time; just to find out class was cancelled. You would think they would have put up a
sign or something ahead of time so I would have known to just stay in the pool.
Pilates being cancelled was definitely a joy kill, but I attempted to keep up the
momentum and do something.

I ended up working out on the Spinning machine, but that only lasted for about 15-
20 minutes because my joy and motivation had gone down the tubes.

I should have focused on the fact that I was still working out, but it boiled down to, I
had prepared myself for Pilates and that's what I wanted to do, so I really wasn't
interested in anything else after that.

It looks like tomorrow I'm going to be missing out on a day of shopping with the
girls. I really want to go, but they're leaving early and Desi's class is at 8:30am and I
can't miss it.

When I relayed that I wanted to go, but had to go to class, a suggestion was made
to "find another way to workout during the day" so I could still go shopping. I didn't
mention anything at the time, but this suggestion actually made my blood boil. I'm
thinking to myself, "It's taken me years to get back into the gym, I'm on a roll and
I'm not about to stop for shopping, especially when I'm broke. Not to mention my
days get so busy, that exercise normally ends up at the end of the list and by that
time I'm exhausted and there's no way I'm exercising by then!" So the suggestion to
find another way to workout was immediately nixed.

I'll be at Desi's class in the morning! ;-)

I woke up this morning feeling funny. I have a "don't tell me what to do attitude",
even though no one is bothering me. It's hard to describe. But in a nutshell I'm not
feeling focused, I'm not motivated and at times,I just don't care about this damn
website or anything else for that matter relating to weight loss. I don't know what to
do or how to move forward. So after some thought, I've decided to just keep
pressing forward hoping that everything snaps into place and I just fall into line with
my destiny.. I know that's not how things works..you have to work for your destiny,
but that's what I mean by pressing forward...not letting these depressing thoughts
pull me down.

So with all of that going on in my head, who would have thought that today would be
one of the best productive days as far as working out ever!!! I guess praying to stay
focused helped, because Whooohooo!! there was no stopping me today!!!

I went to the gym this morning, took Cynthia's class this evening AND ended up
taking the Step Intermediate class and Abs Class. Mind you, the last two weren't
planned, but it worked out great besides for me being oh soo sore..

So let me tell you, I thought that Cynthia taught the Step Intermediate Class, so I'm
like "ok, I can get down with her, I'm good" But then I noticed she left and someone
else was getting prepared. So I decided I would still stay. Let me tell you, it was
soooo comical! The class started out full but when that instructor started, I kid you
not, folks just started leaving, because it was a "Step Intermediate" class. Let me tell
you, I was close to walking out, but when I saw all them folks leave, I was like,'Oh
No You Don't'. So I stayed. And I looked like a fool, but I hung in there and got a
great workout even though I was at least 2 steps behind the whole time and was all
over the place the other times. It was fun to get through (if that's what you want to
call it) but I can't guarantee that I'll do it again. It was strenuous!!!

I stayed after class to stretch and low and behold they were doing abs afterwards. It
was great, even though I'm not going to front..I was tired as heck, I don't think I got
through half of those ab exercises.

Food:
Breakfast

2 eggs w/spinach, shrimp and a slice of cheese on 1 slice of toasted wheat bread -
yeah, I've been slacking, normally I only get 1/2 slice of cheese, the last couple of
days I've been doing a whole slice, I need to cut that back to 1/2 or 0!

Cravings were high today. This morning I wanted Dunkin Donuts, Burger King or
White Castle for breakfast. Instead, I kept thinking about saving that money,
because thinking about it being fattening, wasn't a motivator to NOT do it.

I did actually end up "cheating" later in the day. It wasn't that good either. To make
matters worst I didn't even end up in the gym today!

I'm inspired to start looking for healthier Thanksgiving recipes. I didn't manage to do
it for the family dinner a couple of weeks ago, so I really want to make it happen for
Thanksgiving. It'll be nice to try something new and hopefully good that I can start
to put into the regular meal rotation. I'll keep you updated as I find new recipes. If
you have any good recipes, feel free to share on the blog also!

I didn't make it to the gym this morning, so this evening, I had a little bit of spare
time between picking up the kids and decided to run into Bally's for a quick workout.
I worked out literally for 15 minutes. I knew I was barely going to get warmed up in
15 minutes, but I just felt it was important to remind my body what's up.

When I was there I noticed there was a spin class that was about to start. I'll have to
remember when I'm off on a Monday to get there early enough to take that class. I
use to spin back in the day and the seats hurt my bottom so bad that I bought a
cushion for the spin bike which I still have, so it would be great to get some use out
of that thing again.

Wow..Today takes the record books of the worst day since I officially started this
program on October 1st. I realize how it started and I will explain that because
maybe it will help someone else. I take full responsibility for what I did. I messed up
plain and simple…

You see, I didn’t cheat..No.. that’s not it. Cheating to me is grabbing a cookie or
eating some vegetable tempura..that’s cheating. No, I didn’t cheat. I had an all
out BINGE FEST..I ate..and I ate..and I ate..and I kept eating..and I didn’t stop. It
got to a point where I said, “You know what..I’ve messed up this much, might as
well keep going…” Perhaps, thats where I need to figure out how to draw the line..

So, I had an all niter helping to decorate for the baby shower. My plan was to stay
up and go to Bally’s for Funk Class, however, when I was heading home and missed
my turn, I realized my reaction time was off and it would probably be safer to just
get some sleep, so that’s what I did. So I didn’t end up exercising at anytime during
the day, my first mistake.

Now, I knew from the shower preparation that Grandma Johnson was going to be
making her pulled pork. I already made an allowance with myself, that I would be
getting some. Grandma’s pulled pork is awesome, let’s not sugar coat it and make it
less than it is. It’s awesome..point blank, don’t get it twisted, I’m not going to sit up
here and act like its not the best tasting thing ever. Fine. So I already knew I was
getting myself some pulled pork.

So I really didn’t eat much all day and when I got to the shower, I ended up running
around, hosting the games and etc. Cool. But the time started ticking and I was
starving. So my second mistake is that I didn’t bring snacks and I didn’t stop to
make myself anything to eat. I ended up asking my bestie to do me a favor and
make me a plate for later. I was explicit with what I wanted. And everything I asked
for was on the plate. The only difference I could see is that I probably would have
gotten somewhat smaller portions. I mentioned this and was clearly told “Well,
you’re going to have to take some off.” Do you think I did that? No, actually when
everything was over and I was ready to eat, I went in the kitchen and added to my
already full plate.

I start to eat. I notice that I go for the vegetables first…interesting.. But then I go
for Grandma Johnson’s pulled pork...oh lord...my eyes rolled into the back of my
head…can you say awesome. Then I started craving for some soda and I knew at
that point, there was no return. I wanted some soda and I was going to get some
soda and don’t say anything to me about my soda because I’m about to sit up here
and enjoy my food with some soda… So I get some ginger ale….and it was on….
When the massacre was over, I felt..intoxicated..drugged…guilty…

But I didn’t stop... after I pulled myself off the couch about 1/2hr later…the rampage
continued…

Food:

Breakfast

Low carb wrap w/ 1 egg and 2 turkey sausage w/ ½ slice of cheese

Mid Morning Snack

N/A

Lunch

N/A

Mid-Afternoon Snack

carrots

1 bbq wing fling

Dinner:

What I asked for on my plate:

Pulled pork
Cabbage

Yellow rice and shrimp

Meatballs

Turkey wing

What I added to my already full plate:

1 tbsp of stuffing

2 bbq wing flings

gingerale

After the massacre:

Cornbread

Chips and dip

6 mini chocolate chip pretzel favors

Pepsi

2 chocolate chip cookies

From what I’m seeing here, if I had of just stopped with what was initially on my
plate, it may not have been so bad…I don’t know…

I allowed myself to take an inch because I have been making good progress, but
maybe I’m not at a place yet where I can allow myself to have a little something
without losing complete self-control. All I can say is, tomorrow is a new day and I
will aim to make it better…

I received one of the best pay offs today!! My old pants fit again!!! There was a point
not that long ago where they barely got over my behind and I definitely couldn’t
button them, no questions asked. However, today I tried them on again and not only
did they get over my a$$, but I was able to button them!!! AND it was comfortable!!!
I was even able to wear them to work with no problems!!! I am so far off from my
goal, but I’m feeling uber sexy again!!

I made it to Pilates Class tonight!! I forgot how strenuous pilates is and how difficult
it is to do some of those moves. It’s so less embarrassing doing those moves in the
comfort of your home compared to out in public when you’re the biggest thing in
class trying to get your leg to wrap around your back….so not cute, but I got through
it for the most part. I couldn’t believe how the majority of the class was able to get
through all of those moves almost flawlessly. It let me see I have a loooongg way to
go. The instructor was encouraging, and pointed out how the most important thing
will be seeing the difference in 3 weeks. Believe it or not (and I barely believe it
myself) but I’m looking forward to going back!! I’m going to master Pilates!!!

Thursday, November 5, 2009

So hubby has the audacity to bring home Popeyes chicken for dinner. When I
approached him on it, he had the nerve to say “It’s been six weeks! You should have
some self-control by now!” So I say, “I do, I’m just going to get one wing.” He holds
the box close to himself and goes “No you not…beat it!” I grimaced, but I wasn’t
really mad.

I guess I need that tough love sometimes. Like during class tonight when Cynthia
yelled at me saying I better get it together before she makes everyone do the
exercise longer and then everyone is going to be mad at me. It was funny, but I did
pick up the pace… ;-)

Low and behold, two of the best instructors are holding an hour and half class
Thanksgiving morning!! I am soo there!! My girls are looking at me funny because
not only do we do Black Friday, but we start early by catching the Early Bird deals on
Thanksgiving morning. I already gave them the memo that I won’t be available after
8am. So I’ll go out shopping that morning but by 8am, I’ll be at the gym or heading
to the gym….there is nothing else to discuss. I already know I won’t be going to the
gym Friday-Sunday that Black Friday weekend, so I’m going to make it count and
bust it out with Desi and Cynthia Thanksgiving morning. I CAN’T WAIT!!!

I feel like while I’m on a roll I have to keep up the momentum because when I stop,
it can take years to get back into it! My goal is to keep up the momentum, don’t fight
it and create opportunities to keep it going so it doesn’t get stifled or boring.

P.S. – Something interesting about tonight that I wanted to note is that I was
working on chocolate covered pretzel favors for a baby shower this weekend… Yes, I
do cake decorating and edible favors as a hobby…go figure. Anyway though, while
doing the pretzels, it made me realize how many times I go to throw a piece of
chocolate in my mouth or how many times I actually go to take a sample of the
finished product… I didn’t partake, but I am more aware of the damage I have done
in the past and what I would have done tonight under different circumstances.

Food:

Breakfast

4 tsp of Oatmeal – took some of hubby’s oatmeal

Meal Replacement Shake – rice milk, strawberries, ½ banana, muscle milk powder
and rice bran

Green Tea w/ honey and sugar in the raw – my ultimate favorite now a days…

Dinner

3 tbsp of Popeyes bean and rice – this is more of my weakness then the chicken!

Didn’t go to bed until late, but still got up for the gym. I actually look forward to
going now! I can’t wait to get to Cynthia’s class tomorrow night! I’m also looking
forward to getting to pilates on Friday night if possible. We’ll see....

Today, I was sporting some knee boots with a decent heel on them, so I did take the

stairs at work for over a month now!! I’m sure it has helped with something!

I had to run to Bridgewater Mall at lunchtime today to run an errand. Just the
thought of the food court petrifies me. I honestly am looking forward to the day,
when I can walk into any Mall’s food court and be undisturbed.

But there is something at Bridgewater that scares me more than the Food Court.
Previously I mentioned that I associate certain places with food. Well Bridgewater
Mall = Thomas and Dale’s Popcorn to me. So you’re wondering, what’s so bad about
popcorn right? EVERYTHING!!

I love Thomas and Dales and even though they have low salt and no salt popcorn, do
you really think that’s what I want?!? No Way! I want the country cheddar, the
chocolate drizzle with nuts and buffalloooooo!!! It took everything out of me not to
go there because let me tell you, I won’t go there and just eat a cup of this gourmet
popcorn. Noooo waayyy, I want the whole bag!! I’ve done serious damage there on
multiple occasions so I know to stay away.
My motto is: Knowing your weakness is a strength. To me, that’s half the battle. So I
know Thomas and Dale’s makes me weak especially since I don’t see them often, so
I have to stay away..at least until I gather some self-control….

Food:

Breakfast

Oatmeal raisin 90 calories granola bar

Water

Mid-Morning Snack

Low carb wrap w/hummus, tomato and spring mix

Lunch

Shrimp Caesar Salad w/croutons and no cal, no fat honey mustard dressing – the
salad is getting wilted, just eating the shrimp and croutons

Mid-Afternoon Snack

Carrots

Water

Dinner

Baked chicken thigh

½ corn on the cob

white rice w/black eyed peas

2 tbsp of stuffing –yes, after all that drama the other night, I still went back to get
some..but I don’t think 2tbsp is bad compared to how I would have eaten a cup or
more of it before.
1 tbsp of macaroni and cheese – this was just wrong

While making my son’s plate, I nibbled on some macaroni and cheese, stuffing and a
bbq rib piece. Doing this is probably what prompted me to put some on my plate for
dinner. Was this bad? Well..it wasn’t good and even though it was small portions, I
felt EXTREMELY guilty and made a point to work out this evening, even though I was
tired..

Exercise

½ hour on the Wii Free Step while watching VH1 Reality TV shows – approx. 2400
steps taken!

Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 1st MONTH PROGRESS UPDATE

AM Notes: I just published my November update and am proud because the scale
was not moving but now it is! I also added some new metrics that I want to keep
track of such as my thighs and glutes area. So even though I'm having a soul food
dinner tonight for the family, I think seeing my progress will help me stay focused to
adhere to the strict portion controls I'm putting in place for myself tonight. I'll be
back with how things went today!!

PM Notes: After eating dinner, I took a taste of the stuffing. It was awesome! So I
went to get a tablespoon and basically got jumped. All I could hear were people
screaming “NO! You’re doing so good don’t do it to yourself!” Before I knew it, I was
surrounded and my stuffing was assaulted...literally. It never had a chance.

Things I Tasted While Cooking– I thought this was interesting to take note of.
Normally when I’m cooking, I taste the food to ensure its seasoned right and I never
take note of what I'm intaking. This time around, I kept track of what I was eating
and tried to limit what and how much I was tasting.

Sour cream dip

Ground turkey

Seasoned ricotta
Seasoned sweet potato

Taste of sausage crumb

Taste of bacon piece

at the peach cobbler and keep it moving.

No formal exercise today, just running around cooking!

Started the morning off with Cynthia's class at Ballys!! It was awesome!! I got
there late, but felt like I worked out for an hour just being there for 30 minutes.

At one point I was looking at my reflection in the mirror and before I knew it, she
was in my face screaming "FOCUS!!" lol That got me moving.. I like her, she goes
around and makes sure people have good form and really attempts to push everyone
the extra mile. I'm looking forward to the next class!

If that wasn't a great start to the day, it only got better. Hubby treated me to a
massage at Spa Mosaic! It was awesome!! It was an extended massage and I loved
every last minute of it on my aching bones and especially my back!!

So today was pretty busy once I left the gym. I barely had a chance to eat breakfast
and was just nibbling and not even on that much. Tomorrow morning is weigh in!!
I'm weighing in early because I'm having my family over for dinner and all of that
cooking will have me busy for the most part of the day. I will be cooking up every
soul food dish imaginable because I didn't have time to pull out healthier alternative
recipes like I previously planned...but trust me, no one is going to complain (except
maybe Uncle Patrick..he did make mention about all the carbs at the last family get
together). I do plan on partaking with strict portions..but if the weigh-in doesn't go
good...I may just stick to the shrimp caesar salad all night..

I was really looking forward to pilates class at Bally's tonight. Imagine my surprise to
see 4 people in the group exercise room. 2 were in costumes and 2 in regular street
clothes just standing around listening to music. Allegedly the class had been
cancelled for this "Halloween Party". It would have been nice for a sign to go up
indicating there wouldn't be any class. I was PO'd, but I stayed and worked out. I
was pissed though, I think I was muttering from one machine to the next.

But I guess the moral of the story is I still worked out today.. I'm looking forward to
Pilates next week. I'm hoping I can get it in....

The clock is counting down to my first progress update...Nov 1st!! Stay Tuned!! Ok,
so today was great. Any day I wake up is a great day AND I made it to the gym this
morning, so that makes it even better!! Let me tell you though, my back was killing
me. Not sure why it was hurting, but I spent at least 15 minutes stretching this
morning to help it out. I had a lot on my mind, so I actually spent all my time in the
gym on the stationary bike so I could write down notes of things I needed to do. It
was good because I got warmed up AND was able to organize my thoughts. I don't
plan on doing that often, but it's good to be able to multi-task while at the gym.

I came pretty close to getting a piece of fried fish with some collard greens from
Crocketts tonight. But after getting a pep talk from Sheryl and Meeka, I ended up
making a healthier choice. There was no way I could enjoy the fish after that talk.
Thanks Guys ;-D

I came really close to not going into the gym this morning because of the rain. But
my body was ready to go. I went and I felt excellent afterwards and was glad that I
went! Last week I was only able to run about 2 minutes on the treadmill before I was
about to pass out..Today, I was able to run 7 minutes before I was about to fall out!!
That shows my stamina is building up even though its only been a couple of weeks.

Tonight, I bumped my head. We ended up ordering Burnett BBQ and let's just say I
indulged...not alot or crazy, but enough. When my husband came downstairs, I was
just about to finish up and he says "I know you're not eating potatoes!" He then
takes my plate and says "Make sure you write this down cause I'm not having this!" I
thought it was funny of him but if it was under different circumstances, his hand
would have gotten chopped touching my plate!

I made it to the gym this morning, but it was still a rough day! The cravings after
dinner have become more frequent and there have been some close calls. The only
sweets that come into the house at this point is from my husband. He doesn't do it
too often, so I don't have too many temptations, but when its a carb craving, it
doesn't have to be sweet to get me doped up. So instead, I grabbed some
chamomile tea w/honey to take the bite off and to help me sleep. It assisted in doing
both...

Ughh..what a long, tiring, exhausting day. I didn't do "formal" exercise today.
However, I did plenty of housecleaning and walked up and down the basement steps
washing about 5-6 loads of clothes. Somehow/someway, I know I got my exercise
in. All the steps felt like I was on the stair climber machine at times. I really wanted
to play tennis on the Wii, but it was non-stop today. Tennis on the Wii is alot of fun
and I really want to play more games like that when I'm home and can't get out to
the gym.

Does housework count? If so, I was there!

Saturday, October 24, 2009

Started the day in the gym at Desi's class! His class is one of the best that I've ever
gone too. To be exercising in a group class and hear your type of music, all at the
same time, is hard to come by. Just when I was about to fall out, a hot club song
would come on. Forget exercising I wanted to drop it like it was hot up in there.. :-D
Now my body is officially sore and I feel the pain!

Don't ask me how I ended up in Smokehouse Buffet later in the day. But I have to
admit...it was actually HARD to NOT be GOOD. They had soo much salad and
vegetables that there were really good choices to choose from. I'm not going to say I
was a Saint in there, but I'm proud of what I did. In comparison to how I did when I
was there two years ago, Yes, I'm proud, very proud..

Now later in the evening is when I had issues. The cravings were soo strong, that I
opted to lay down, because I knew that last oreo would be mine if I stayed up any
longer...mind you, it was only 7pm. So, I laid down, but then I had to get up for
something..well let's just say I should have stayed in the bed...
P.S. - I didn't end up going to the lounge/"clubbing". It was pouring cats and dogs
and no one was really interested being outside in the elements...maybe next time...
;-)

Food:

Breakfast

Meal Replacement Shake - 1/2 banana, rice milk, muscle milk powder, rice bran &
strawberries

Mid-Morning Snack

water - This was actually pretty good, because we went to the movies and I didn't
partake in any popcorn, drinks or candy. Before, half of a large popcorn, some
soda and candy would have been my movie snack.

Lunch - *Smokehouse Buffet*

Garden Salad - For the record I NEVER get salad at a buffet...the thinking has always
been, why waste my time with a salad when I have ALL of this food to choose from!
However, I made a point to start off with the salad.

*Grilled Fish

*Broccoli - it was sauteed with garlic, the best restaurant broccoli I've EVER tasted

1/2 baked sweet potatoe

*Mushrooms & onions

2 pieces of plaintain

1/4 cup of corned beef hash

String Beans

Couple chunks of bourbon chicken

2 Baked Hot Wing pieces

I had Thai today! I've been craving Thai for a minute, so to be finally able to partake
was awesome...until I peaked at the scale in the gym tonight! Mind you, I'm the
same one that constantly complains about not losing any weight. But between the
rice from the Thai and the rice from the Chinese food last night, I'm not doing myself
any favors. I did manage to make it to the gym today though!

Sometimes I think that if I bust it out at the gym, then I can splurge a little in the
eating department, but I think that only works after you've initially lost the weight.
And I haven't lost one lousy pound in 3 weeks!

So since I've stepped up in the exercise department now I need to step up in the diet
department so I can really start to see some changes. I'm thinking about making a
major eating overhaul within the next week. Stay Tuned..
Food:

Breakfast

Tilapia w/cucumbers, red & green peppers, tomatoes, no calorie/no fat bacon ranch
dressing on a 95% fat free wrap

water

Mid-Morning Snack

Veggie Hummus wrap - cucumbers, red & green peppers, tomatoes, 2 tbsp of
hummus on a 95% fat free wrap

Lunch

Thai - Gang Karee - curry dish with vegetables & chicken - this was burning me up! I
got a #3 hotness which was extra, extra hot today.

water - lots of water due to the heat of the Gang Karee!

Mid-Afternoon Snack

Kashi TLC Dark Choco Coconut Fiber bar

Dinner *ate at HLS in Maplewood tonight after going to the gym...I love healthy
eating restaurants!

Kale, apple & celery - juiced

sweet potatoe french fries - they were awesome, as usual..but I did feel a slight bit
of guiltiness eating them..the slightest...

1/2 bbq chicken wrap - it was a whole wrap but I only ate half and will be saving the
remainder for tomorrow.

Took my first step class in years today!! And it showed!! I love to step and even
utilize my Wii Fit for the step games. I use to really get down with step class, so like
old times, I grabbed my stepping board and my one set of risers. I never graduated
to two risers, so I figured one set would be fine....WRONG! I was ready to quit within
5 minutes of the class! So instead of having bad form and not really doing the
exercises, I removed the risers...kind of embarrassing, but I got over it quick. But
then it got to a point where even the stepping board was too much! So, I figured out
how to do it on the floor without the board after a while and when I got up the
energy would utilize the board again. It wasn't any joke and it was funny to look up
and see one other girl in the mirror that looked a hot sloppy mess..I was like, well at
least I'm not alone...but then I realized, that was my reflection!!

P.S - By the way, I went to the gym twice today!!!

Started the day off right in the gym! However, something weird happened. I decided
to forgo my regular meal replacement shake this morning because I actually wanted
food. Well the crazy thing is, I became hungry about an hour after I ate and so I just
kept eating because I was sincerely hungry and I felt as though I could feel my
metabolism roaring..sounds crazy right?! But its the truth, I was finished with all my
food before 12pm and I knew the couple of snacks I had wasn't going to get me
through the day, so I had to go to the job cafeteria to get something to hold me
down for the rest of the afternoon. The rest of the day went ok. There's always room
for improvement.

Food:

Breakfast

7:30am - Veggie egg and cheese wrap -2 eggs, cucumbers, green/red peppers,
tomatoes, 1/2 slice of cheese, low cal/low fat wheat wrap. *I was hungry very soon

Back at Bally's this am!! I'm feeling good and hope I can stay on the straight and
narrow with getting up and going to the gym. I decided today that I would stop
wearing a girdle. Scary right?! Yes..very scary. :) However, my thinking of it is,
girdles help me cheat. I notice that I've been receiving help with the spanx and
squeem (and yes, I do wear both at a time if need be), so I'm not keeping my
stomach in on my own as I should. So I'm going on without a girdle and focusing on
keeping my stomach flexed at all times. P.S - I will be throwing one back on for
when I go out "clubbing" this weekend.. I haven't been out "clubbing" in years, so I'll
keep you updated with how that goes! (If I actually get up the courage to go!)

ok...where do I start...Sooo..today was an awesome day...then I slipped up towards
the end....So to start out with, my job is sponsoring a health program where they
give out pedometers and you simply have to log how many steps you take in a day.
So, I made sure to pick that up because it will assist with this journey. After last
night's two week update, I know I will have to step it up for this weight to get off.
So, I made my way to the gym after work today. It was cool because I was able to
really get it in good. I spent about 1.5hrs there concentrating on cardio and then
upper body work. I joked on facebook earlier that I had to drag myself out of the
gym because I realized my sins wouldn't be forgiven in one night. So, it went really
well. Then somehow..someway, I ended up at Red Lobster with the family. The End.

Ok, all jokes put aside. I didn't go completely insane, but after that banging workout,
I felt really guilty having anything besides for salad. Hubby thinks I'm over-reacting,
but to each his own...

Food:

Breakfast
Peanut Butter Protein Shake - rice milk, muscle milk powder, rice bran, 1/2 banana &
peanut butter

Mid-Morning Snack

16oz water.

Lunch - went to Bensi's, my favorite restaurant by the job

Garden salad w/balsamic on the side *I don't think I even used 1tsp of the dressing
because it looked way too creamy/fattening. I made a point to eat all of the salad.
Normally I would never order salad AND if I did, I would push it to the side once the
meal came out. I made sure to finish the salad first.

Eggplant Rollatine *I took off about 65-70% of the cheese that was on top of the
rollatine

8oz of water

Note: I was proud of myself here because Bensi's supplies warm bread with butter
upon arrival. Under previous circumstances, I would normally have finished the first
basket and have asked for a second basket of bread and butter. This time, no
bread/butter at all.. To be honest though, I did have to put my head down for a
second while my co-worker dug in. I was trying to compose myself.

Mid-Afternoon Snack

Carrots

Green tea w/honey & sugar in the raw * I didn't think I had enough honey so
automatically I went to grab two packs of regular sugar. Fortunatley my co-worker
Milly saw me and reminded me that the cafe has sugar in the raw. What a great
catch!

Evening Snack

carrots

16oz water
Dinner *this madness occurred after today's exercise session...Red Lobster

 caesar salad w/lite italian on the side * had less than 1tsp of dressing - did
         not eat the croutons...

Ok..so this next section is the embarrasing part..I know I said I would be honest soo
here goes..

I ordered the endless shrimp meal...

 2 servings of cajun grilled shrimp
 1 serving of teriyaki grilled shrimp
 1 serving of plain grilled shrimp
 1 serving of steamed broccoli
 1 cup of rice pilaf

does it count that I didn't have any of the cheddar cheese biscuits or hubby's
mudslide? So, I knew things were getting out of hand, because even though it said
grilled, I could taste the butter and oils...but even then I didn't stop. The rice pilaf
with the cajun grilled shrimp juices was so banging, that in one spontaneous motion,
I dumped the rice on another plate and doused it with water so I wouldn't continue
to eat it..I have a problem with food...I recognize that...if I didn't sabotage that rice
I would have ate it all.. Of course hubby's looking at me like I've lost my mind, but I
had to take control of the situation..

Exercise

AM

3 flights of stairs

PM

3 flights of stairs

60 minutes of cardio on the treadmill * yes I busted a sweat. I did a 2.0 incline and
power walked for 80% of the time and jogged for 20% of the hour

Worked on upper body- chest, shoulders, biceps tripces, abs *one of my co-workers
suggested doing upper one day and lower on another so that's what I'm trying out.
I JUST CHECKED the pedometer - Steps for the day: 4683! *The fitness center said
2,000 steps equals 1 mile..if so, the number above is inaccurate because I did a little
over 3 miles on the treadmill alone. They say the ultimate goal is 10,000 steps a day
which is 5 miles. Maybe one day..

Thursday, October 15, 2009

* is it too late to hide underneath a rock and act like I never started this journal? Ok,
so it has been two weeks since I started my program. I've been eating better and
lighter than I have in years and I've started to increase my physical activity, but
there's a lot of room for improvement there.

So in two weeks, just looking at pounds, I have lost exactly ZERO pounds. Let me
give you a more detailed look of what my weigh-ins have looked like in the last two
weeks:

1st weigh-in - after a few days of starting the program, I was immediately down
3lbs. I was on a high.

2nd - a couple of days after that, my best friend in the whole wide world came to
visit me and I gained 6 Whopping pounds.

3rd - my friend left but I still had only lost 1 pound.

4th time - today - I'm down an additional 2lbs..

So that equals = 0 pounds lost..

So, I'm not feeling so positve about the progress thus far, but I still have two weeks
before the month is over, so I have time to step it up. I feel comfortable with what
I've been eating, however, I need to intake more water, workout and actually sweat
when working out. Am I the only one that doesn't like to sweat?

Thinking back to my lighter days though, I remember leaving Bally's soaking wet..so
yes..I have to step it up...

Thoughts:

My co-workers went to Cracker Barrel for lunch today. I've never been, but I'm
hearing they have mac-n-cheese (my weakness) and country fried steak
smothered in gravy! Fortunatley for me I ended up having to work through lunch so I
didn't have to fight the urge to have something other than a salad while there!! I
have to stay away from that place!!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

*Stay Tuned..tomorrow is the 2 week update...and just as a
spoiler..the preliminary results are not all that exciting...ok
pretty depressing since the last time I checked..but we'll
discuss tomorrow...

Food:

Breakfast

Boiled egg w/one slice of wheat toast

water

Mid-Morning Snack

apple

Lunch

Fat Free/120 calorie wheat wrap w/veggies & hummus - veggies consist of spring

It was Absolutely Awesome!!

Mid-Afternoon Snack

carrots

trail mix granola bar

fat free mini bag of popcorn

Dinner

1/4 inch piece of toasted roll- there was nothing wheat or healthy about it..

Boston Market baked chicken

Boston Market mixed vegetables

ok, ok, while making the guys plate I did lick the fork of the mac n cheese and sweet
potatoes....

Exercise:

Does the two flights of steps at work count anymore? If so, I'm still not taking the
elevator and its starting to be automatic to walk past the elevator...even in HEELS!!
However, no formal exercise..does carrying a 20lb baby in a 15lb car seat count? If
so..i'm getting my workout there also...

Thoughts:

Ok, I was in Boston Market to pick up dinner because besides for Burnett BBQ, I
think its the healthiest way to get a "fast food, closest to home" type dinner. Let me
tell you though, it was hard to get the Family Feast and not partake in the dessert!
They had a whole pan of brownies or we could have gotten the apple pie! I HAVE
NEVER PASSED UP ON THE DESSERT...But I was good. Instead of the dessert I got
1/2 soup and fruit salad for the house!! That was rough..but hey..it was better to do
that then bring it in the house and torture myself not to eat it....heated up with
vanilla ice cream....oh..my bad..I got off topic.. :-)
Areas of Improvement:

I need to get into the gym!!!!! or some type of calorie burning activity for more than
15 minutes straight!!! How do you ensure to get your daily workout? What do you
do? I have to pull back out that link of how to get a workout in during the busy day..

Monday, October 12, 2009

*OK, so this journal does have some benefit to it. I have finally admitted and came
to the conclusion that when I am sick, (not including stomach flu) I look forward to
eating. So I'm sick today and a very familiar feeling/thought came over me. What
will I treat myself to today? A chicken cheese sandwich from
Hawthorne Deli? or how about an Italian Cheeseburger? Oh Wait, I
know... a hot pastrami sandwich from Coopers. And of course, with
one of these I will get a ginger ale, because after all, I'm sick. WTH is
going on with me?!? It's good though...it's good that I've came to this epiphany
because even though I knew it, I don't think I've ever owned up to it and I've
definitely never thought to fight these feelings, because I'm sick for goodness
sakes!! Soo..yes, this is good progress...

Food:

Breakfast

     apple

Mid-Morning Snack

Thoughts:

Something I wanted to share that occurred during the week:

One evening I had to run to Livingston Mall to grab something for one of the kids. I
don't know if other folks do this, but I correlate certain places that I don't go often
with certain foods. So for me Livingston Mall gets correlated to a Cinnabon, because
I normally make sure to grab a Pecan Cinnabon before I leave.. Soo of course when I
realized I was going there, the cinnabon crossed my mind just as the sandwiches
cross my mind when I'm sick. Well, my little sister decides to meet me at the mall.
We're about to leave, but she's complaining of being hungry and of course my son
complains of the same thing. So I go to grab him something from the food court and
she's standing their with a pained expression on her face and says to me "I really
want a cinnabon, do you want to share it with me?" So I tell her that I can't and I
just grab a side salad.

So we're all sitting down eating and she has her cinnabon which she lets my son
have some of, but I can't help but look at it. So she see's me and goes "Oh yeah,
you can blog about this, here.... get a good look at it, so you can describe it......" I
roll my eyes at her, but I'm actually thinking about how delectable it looks and how
the cream and cinnamon is just rolling off the knife looking so delicious...

So I continue to eat my salad which is actually really good and refreshing..and then
my son tastes the cinnabon and goes "This is horrible.." and starts
laughing..everyone has jokes..

*not feeling good today...the cravings were something awful...I wanted cake,
cookies and/or pecan brownies warmed up with a side of vanilla ice cream..to be
honest with you..I don't know how I got through the day...

Food:

Breakfast

 Meal replacement shake - rice milk, strawberries, rice bran, 1/2 banana &
        muscle milk

Mid-Morning Snack

    carrots
 handful of cherry delight trail mix
Lunch

 The remainder of the steamed broccoli, shrimp and brown rice w/ 1 pack of
soy sauce and 2 packs of duck sauce

Mid-Afternoon Snack

    N/A

Evening Snack:

    Trail mix bar
    cherry delight trail mix
    banana chips

Dinner: *I made bbq chicken but just baked mine

 7 baked wing fling pieces
 tbsp of mashed potatoes *nibbling & tasting

* I felt guilty about downing the baked chicken while standing and fixing plates so I
didn't eat anything else.

Post Dinner:

 theraflu w/2 tsp of sugar * I know, putting in the sugar was just ridiculous

Nutrition Supplement:

    grapeseed

Exercise:

AM/PM

Not a damn thing...*then I want to complain about I'm not losing fast enough..:-/
Saturday, October 10, 2009

*This is truly a day when I was seconds from cheating. I mean I kind of cheated
anyway as far as not sticking to the appropriate servings..but if it wasn't for my
hubby it would have been even more of a disaster, because towards the evening I
had left out without my snacks and I was hungry and there wasn't anything to talk
about..I just wanted to eat...If he had of pulled over I would have been in the
chicken shack and some fried wings would have been my dinner*

Food:

Breakfast

    1 bowl Raisin bran w/ 2% milk

Mid-Morning Snack

    N/A

Lunch

 Stacy's Pita chips & the remainder of the mango/peach salsa

Mid-Afternoon Snack

 McDonald's Southwest salad w/southwest dressing - no chicken, just lettuce,
        tomatoes, corn, beans, shredded cheese

Dinner:

 4-5 tablespoons of chicken & broccoli in white sauce *this was hubby's dinner
and I was making his plate and just went crazy. When I gave him his plate he
was like "This is all of it?" I later admitted I snuck some while making his
        plate.
 Steamed broccoli & shrimp w/brown rice & 3 packs of soy sauce and duck
sauce each *garlic sauce was supposed to have been on the side but they
forgot to the put it in the bag..I guess that was good though because I really
doubt that garlic sauce is all that healthy, however since I over indulged in
the soy and duck sauce, it probably ended up being the same.
 Took a Swig of Hubby's Sweet Ice Tea
    water

Nutrition Supplement:

    grapeseed

Exercise:

AM/PM

 I attempted to clean inefficiently as a read in an article which talks about
when cleaning make multiple trips up and down the stairs instead of taking
everything at once. I definitely burned calories doing housework, but no
        formal exercise was done.

Friday, October 9, 2009

Food:

Breakfast

    Muscle milk vanilla drink

Mid-Morning Snack

    carrots

Lunch *First time eating in the job cafeteria since I started this program*

 Large beef, rice,&veggie soup -it tasted a bit salty, I shouldn't have finished it
 Roll w/butter - it looked like a wheat roll, but I can't say for sure
 Caesar Salad Shaker w/a bread stick - these are the salads that come with
the dressing already on it, it was way to good to be healthy. I took one bite of
the bread stick and threw it out, they made it easy for me...it was nasty..
    16 oz. water
Mid-Afternoon Snack

      large green tea w/honey

Dinner:

      grapes
      carrots
      trail mix bar
      water

Nutrition Supplement:

      B-12

Exercise:

AM

      N/A

PM

 5 laps around the inside ring at work
      4 flights of stairs

Thoughts:

Last night really upset me. To the point where even hubby asked when I woke up if I
was ok. I'm fine. It's cool. I've decided that I actually will need to weigh myself at
least once a week. By doing that it will give me an indication if what I'm doing is
good or if I need to tweak and step it up even more to reach my goals. I've been
considering adding 2 workouts to my day so I get at least one in..let's stay tuned for
that...

Areas of Improvement:

Sooo, today was alright..there's always room for improvement. The cafeteria proved
to be a challenge even though I attempted to get decent items. I didn't realize the
soup was going to be on the verge of salty, a small or medium soup would have
sufficed. I saw the casear salad shaker as I was walking out with my soup and roll. I
guess I should have kept on walking. It was good...real good..but it was too good to
be true, so it probably wasn't that great for me. But dag..I wouldn't mind another
one, minus the fresh baked bread stick..yuk.. I had a late dinner so I kept it light
with carrots, grapes & a trail mix bar.

7:30am: I finally got up and out to the gym early this morning! Check out my
regimen below!

**********

2:00am Thursday night/Friday morning:

So it's now time for me to put up a picture. I initially went looking for a current
picture to post, when I realized that I'm always hiding from the camera, so of course
I wouldn't have any current full body shots of myself. So I decide to take a picture of
myself a week into this. So then the question is, what should I wear? Some booty
shorts and a tank top? A 2 piece bikini that's two sizes two small that I use to look
half-way decent in? So, with my husband's help, I decided to take a couple of
pictures. It didn't take anytime to look at the picture and see why I don't get in front
of the camera any longer. As a matter of fact, it was alot more disturbing because
I'm hiding from the camera fully clothed, so imagine me halfway naked. Oh, I feel
like crying...it's...if this wasn't real before, me putting up a picture is going to seal
the deal.

People are like "Wow you're so open and honest, you have your weight and
measurements up there" and I'm like "oh, no big deal, I'm thinking about what I'm
going to look like in several months" but now, oh now I'm feeling the embarrassment
and pressure...It's one thing just to post numbers...a picture is a whole other
story...I don't want to post any of them..all of them are pretty horrible...but I started
this, so now I'm going to finish it... A picture will be up shortly...reluctantly...

Exercise:

AM

Went to my old faithful Bally's this morning! It was awesome to be back!!! It was
amazing and encouraging to see the same people in there from 4.5 years ago when I
was working it out!

I tried to incorporate what I learned with my trainer from back then. For the weight
lifting portion I did 3 reps of 12 for each exercise and in between some reps, I did
jumping jacks and ran a lap at least once.

Elliptical - 20 minutes

Hip Adducter - 70lbs

Hip Abducter - 60lbs

Leg extension - 75lbs

Seated Leg Press - 115lbs

Shoulder Press - Didn't use a # weight, they started at 20lbs which was too heavy,
so with no weights it was about 5-10lbs.

PM1

4 laps around the inside ring at work with co-worker

PM2

Working out at Tiff's house in her gym.

Triceps - 3 reps of 10

shoulder exercises - 3 reps of 10
treadmill - 10 minutes

Thoughts:

It felt soo good to get in the gym. Obviously I need to go to bed early so the 5am
hour doesn't feel so foreign! I'm feeling good and the day has just started.

****************

Today was an awesome day. I didn't plan to work out 3 separate times, but it
worked out well. It's also cool being able to work out with the girls at times also.

Everyone is on a mission for self-improvement which is encouraging.

Areas of Improvement:

I was really proud of my work out regimen today and my diet.

Evening Snack

Pomegranate/cherry trail mix bar

apple

Dinner

Stacey pita chips and this mango/peach salsa which is 20 calories per ounce

** That salsa is sooo freaking good and fresh!***

Exercise:

Walked 2 flights of stairs

No formal exercise today

Thoughts:

I didn't feel any hunger cause I was eating throughout the day.

Areas of Improvement:
I think I need to calm down on the nuts and stuff..I know they're good for you to an
extent, but I think trail mix and a trail mix granola bar in the same day may be too
much.

I started snacking on the pita chips and salsa and lost count of what I had taken in
so I decided not to eat any dinner. If I had to guess, I would say I had about a cup
of the pita chips and 3oz of the salsa. It was already around 8pm so I figured I did
enough damage and plus I wasn't hungry after that snacking.

I didn't do any formal exercise and went to sleep like around 9:30pm. I was pooped!

Exercise

4 flights of stairs

1 lap on the inside ring at work

30 minute free stepping on the Wii while catching up on some tv

3- 30 second planks

6 reps Torso twists & diagonol twists
Thoughts:

I thought today was a good day for eating and exercise, however, I did see my latest
BMI and weight on the Wii and felt like crying. My husband is like, "Don't let that
discourage you, just keep on what you're doing." And I guess that's because when it
boils down to it, even though what I'm doing may not be the "perfect plan", its a
huge improvement from how I was living just a week ago, so progress may be slow,
but it will eventually come.

Areas of Improvement:

One area of improvement that I can think of is to only check my weight and BMI
when I'm going to update the site. That way, my actual results and progress will be
a surprise to me the day of also.

Nutritional Supplements for the day:

Exercise

Absolutely nothing formal :-/

Thoughts:

Today was my first event where lunch and cocktail hour would be served. They
actually had excellent selections, so I had no excuse but to fill my plate with salad
and steamed vegetables. I'm noticing that I enjoy lots of steamed and grilled veggies
better than salad though. After lunch, I was soo tempted to get a cookie, but decided
to get a tea with honey, which really held me over.

When confronted by something like a cookie, ice cream or brownies with nuts (which
is my weakness), I try to visualize myself at my post weight loss to encourage me
not to eat it. I figure that I got to this point by thinking I was huge when I wasn't, so
maybe if I think myself thin while going through this process, that may help also.

My biggest concern for this event was going to be their cocktail hour. Remembering
how good the food was from last year, I was really concerned that I was about to be
tempted. Well, let me tell you...this year's cocktail hour was downgraded big time,
fortunately for me. They only had good stuff: raw veggies with dip, fresh fruit, pita
portions with hummus and various dips. Honestly, I was good at lunch because I was
looking forward to cheating a little at cocktail hour with some shrimp and hor
d'oeuvres. It didn't work out that way, but that was just better for me in the end.

Areas of Improvement:

I thought I did well food wise. However, I'm looking forward to the day when I can
have a good food day and a good exercise day. I didn't do a lick of formal exercise
today and don't even have work stairs to report since I didn't physically go in the
office.

Breakfast

Oatmeal - sweetened with sugar in the raw, raisins, 1/2 tsp butter & 2% milk

water

Mid-Afternoon Snack

N/A

Evening Snack

N/A

Dinner

1 piece of fried tilapia

1/4 piece of grilled tilapia

1/2 ear corn on the cob

couple pieces of broccoli

water

Nutritional Supplements for the day:

B12 & Grapeseed extract

Exercise:

Walked with Meek and the kids for 30 minutes around the track; about 5 times.
Thoughts:

I felt pretty bad about the choices made today. Besides for the morning breakfast it
was all food on the run and nibbling. Around 11:30am I was dragging something
horribly and realized I hadn't taken my supplements. After a while I felt better and
was on the move.

Areas of Improvement:

Need I say it?!? That damn fish..Mind you I grilled myself some fish, but we can see
how that went. Also I need to keep better track of the water I'm drinking and
bringing enough snacks to last me while I'm the on the road. I went shopping today
and grabbed some healthier on the go snacks, so that portion should improve.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Food:

Breakfast

1 slice of wheat toast w/1 tbsp of almond butter

6 green grapes

16oz water

Mid-Morning Snack

12-15 green grapes

2 multi-grain wheat crackers

Mid-Afternoon Snack-

Evening Snack -

N/A

Dinner -

Sante Fe Grilled Chicken Wrap from Nathans

16oz of water

tbsp of fried basa

Nutritional Supplements for the day:

B12 & grapeseed extract

Exercise:

Trampoline for 30 minutes

Thoughts:

I started the day off with exercise which was a huge weight off of my shoulders
knowing that I got it done early and didn't have it hanging over my head until night
time when I'm exhausted. I actually planned to workout twice however we ended up
having family movie night, which is another reason why I'm glad I was able to get in
at least one good work out early. The guys had their popcorn, sunchips and water for
the movie, but I was able to pass on the snacks.
However, towards the end of the evening I started craving for something sweet, so I
started looking for some alternatives. My options were snow (finely crushed ice) or
green tea. I couldn't find my snow cone machine and was so disappointed that I
didn't even bother with the tea and went to sleep. I really need to find it because
that is a cold treat w/zero calories and it takes the edge off for me..

Areas of Improvement:

So I still cook for the guys, but I guess I need to find a way to cook their food
without needing to taste it OR just have them eat the same things I'm eating so I
can taste what I'm cooking. I started to make fried fish last night and took a taste of
it..it was pretty good...ok it was better than good, but to be honest after I ate it, I
was embarrased because I knew I would have to write it down, but yes, that's
definitely an area that I need to work on.

I also could have improved on the number of snacks I took out with me today. Being
that I was on the road, I should have brought more than I did. I didn't end up going
towards a bad alternative because of it, however, I'm sure my metabolism wasn't
moving like it could have been if I had those mid-afternoon/evening snacks
available.

Friday, October 2, 2009

Food:

Breakfast

1 slice of wheat toast w/1 tbsp of almond butter

16oz water

Mid-Morning Snack

apple

Lunch

Wendy's small chili w/4 saltine crackers & chili hot sauce
Wendy's caesar side salad with their caesar dressing & croutons

16oz water

Mid-Afternoon Snack

mini bag of popcorn- but yes, it was butter lovers

Evening Snack - at this point I was literally just nibbling

2 multi-grain Ritz crackers

3 oz. of Sobe Life water apple-pear - 0 calories and it was really good and refreshing

Dinner - honestly..I didn't eat a good dinner like I should have

2 oz. of Campbell's New England Clam Chowder

a tangerine size multi-grain roll w/butter

4oz water

Nutritional Supplements for the day:

B12 & grapeseed extract

Exercise:

4 flights of stairs

leg lifts

This boils down to - I didn't do formal exercise today... I'll leave the *excuses* at the
door. There's no place for them here. Either its getting done or its not.

Thoughts:
Overall, it was a good day. I still managed to eat light even when I went to Wendy's,
because I can guarantee you I would never think about leaving Wendy's without my
junior bacon cheeseburger and fries..are you kidding me?!? So yes, today was a good
day.

I also love the fact that my husband is being receptive to this and is lending his
support. He picked up a couple of groceries and I noticed some multi-grain substitutes
to what we normally buy. Its definitely a help to know I'm not alone with this...

Areas for Improvement

hmm..where should I start? lol OK, a real dinner would be nice. It was getting late
again so I literally was just nibbling off of my husbands plate of food that I made him.
*Is that an excuse..sounds like one too me* Ok I'll work on that..

Exercise-?! Hello! I didn't do formal exercise today..that's never a good thing.. but to
keep the positivity going, I did continue to walk the steps at work doing double duty
and I did make a point to do some leg lifts when I was in the video chair watching tv..
You know, I guess its about the mind change because - When do I normally do leg
lifts while I'm watching tv!?! NEVER!

Later folks! :-)

Thursday, October 1, 2009

1 slice of wheat toast w/1 tbsp of almond butter

16oz water
Mid-Morning Snack

red globe grapes

Axelrod 90 calorie yogurt

Lunch

large mesculun salad w/tomatoes & 6 small meatballs for protein & Organic Sesame
Ginger Dressing

16oz water

Mid-Afternoon Snack

more red globe grapes

Evening Snack

apple

16oz water

Nutritional Supplements for the day:

B12 & grapeseed extract

Exercise: During the day, walked 3 flights of stairs. In the evening, worked out on
the WII for about 20 minutes. Did stepping, hula hooping, triceps and some yoga.

Thoughts: Ok this was a rough first day. Originally, I was worried about how I was
going to remember to eat 5-8 times a day, but being that my meals/snacks were
small, I couldn't forget because I was always ready to eat again within an hour or
two!!
Areas for Improvement: I ended up not eating dinner because it was getting late.
That's definitely not a habit I want to continue. After reviewing what I ate today, I see
the need to diversify and try to include more of the food groups and make my meals
more interesting before I become bored out of my head and cheat.
