Islamic doctrines stand in stark contrast to Christian theology, and a study of Islam can make us value even more the truth and the grace of the gospel. This book challenges Christians to understand more thoroughly, essential biblical doctrines. It then provides some in-depth understanding of Islamic teaching, enabling the reader to grasp some of the philosophical and doctrinal features of Islam. Rev. Canon Dr David Claydon Federal Secretary, Church Missionary Society, Australia Bishop Christensen’s name is legendary in north-west Pakistan. His approach to Muslims and to Islam comes not only from practical experience but from deep suffering. Much of what he writes is full of the deepest wisdom, even if his theological ideas are quite particular. We do not have to agree with every detail of his thought to know that here is someone with an appreciation of the uniqueness of Christian revelation, which is held together with sympathy for those of other faiths. Right Rev. Dr Michael Nazir-Ali Bishop of Rochester, England Jens Christensen was no idealistic armchair theorist. He was a missionary apostle whose faith was hammered out over many years in one of the world’s most difficult environments. Combining exceptional experience, knowledge and theology of both Christianity and Islam, Christensen engages his readers and urges action. He is uncompromisingly rigorous, yet sensitively honest in his pursuit of truth, even if that leads to martyrdom! In an age where absolutes are diluted to more comfortable relativism, and preaching is replaced by dialogue, Christensen stands as an immovable rock. His position and conclusions can be neither dismissed nor ignored. I commend the man and his message. Dr Stuart Robinson Crossway, Melbourne

about this book . . . This booklet goes straight to the heart of the matter. Christ with and by the Father has poured out his Spirit for these last days—the days which began at Pentecost and will conclude in the hour of Christ’s coming and presence. It is both stimulating and demanding to be living in this last era of human history. Without the power of the Holy Spirit we cannot live as we ought. Enormous changes have been taking place and are taking place. Christians not only have to face these matters, but they are also to proclaim the Kingdom of God and live in faith, hope and love at the same time. They are to be one with Christ whilst he is putting down great powers and rulers and evils until the end comes and he delivers the Kingdom to the Father. Without his pouring out of the Spirit on us we cannot begin to do a thing. Being baptised by this outpouring alters everything.

ohn Dunn lives in Sydney and runs a consultancy company specialising in the design of trains and trams. He is the author of several engineering publications as well as numerous study notes and commentaries on the Scriptures. He is a member of St Paul’s Anglican Church in Chatswood.

Geoffrey Bingham (b. 1919) was 58 years old when he wrote and published this book Father! My Father! Although he had known the truth from his early childhood in the days of reciting The Lord’s Prayer, it was during missionary days in Pakistan that he came into a more powerful, personal experience of the nature of God as Father to His creation and Father to all humanity and he could say, ‘God is Father to all persons, and they are His sons’. Bingham’s discovery was responsible for some dramatic changes in the lives of others. Two previous books— I Love the Father (1974), and The God and Father of Us All (1976) had prepared us for the 1977 volume—this present book—and the volume sold rapidly. The time for others to read it has come! In these days of world conflict we need to discover the powerful reality summed up in two biblical statements: (i) ‘God is Love’; and (ii) ‘He is the God and Father of us all’. In them is the transformation of the world or the ‘new age’. This alone can bring about true understanding of the Persons of God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The love that created the world. Let us go to this thrilling project! Filled with experiences of farming, soldiering, theology, journalism, missionary ministry and the training of theological students, Geoffrey Bingham’s gifts have enabled him to be a help to sincere believers. No less this present reprint will add wisdom to all who read it.

MISSION
A Practical Theology of Mission

Read the booklet and understand the meaning of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. about the author . . . Octogenarian Geoffrey Bingham has had years of Christian learning and teaching in many countries. These days his new books are always vintage writing. Once Principal of two Bible Colleges and leader for almost thirty years in New Creation Teaching Ministry, he is tirelessly occupied with the Scriptures, constantly learning them and teaching them. His life is rooted in his own substantial family, in the human community, and in the rough and tumble of contemporary living and so he is able to speak to these things through books such as this.

he idea of self-control or self-discipline is almost foreign to our culture. This attitude has invaded the church to such an extent that many Christians have no sense of the urgent need for holiness of life and genuine discipleship. Behind this shortcoming there often lies a low view of the grace of God and a shallow understanding of the wonder of his forgiveness.

Jens Christensen, 1899–1966, was a theologian of great calibre. A Lutheran Bishop and pastor, he was a man who worked most of his life amongst Muslims. Few men have loved and understood the Muslim as he did.

Running the Race is a call to Christians to get back to biblical basics in the areas of personal self-discipline, holy living, being disciples of Christ and having right goals. It looks at the necessity for a consistent walk with the Lord in Bible study, prayer, worship and living in the Spirit. The author urges readers to take seriously the dire necessity to bring one’s mind, body and conduct under the authority of Scripture. This affects all areas of living including our attitude to work, the use of time and money, and right conduct within our relationships. Christian self-discipline is shown to be fundamental not only to a right perspective on life here and now, but pivotal in setting our goals so that we will be in step with God’s ultimate intention to bring us into glory as his sons and daughters who reflect the character of his Son, Jesus Christ.
