Payment of a Registration Fee

       • Upon submission of your application, please enclose a SR 3,500 registration fee; this is a one-
time fee and does not guarantee a place in the school. Please note this fee is non-refundable,
except in the case of the following circumstances:

             i. We are unable to offer your child a place in the school because the class is full, refund will
                be SR 3500.
ii. The school cannot accept your child following the entrance assessment, refund will be
                SR 3000.
2. Entrance Assessment
After registration, your child will be invited to spend part of a morning in the age appropriate class in order to
be assessed; if your child is in Al Khobar, the registrar’s office will contact you within days of registration to
arrange this entrance assessment. If your child is not yet in Kingdom, please phone the registrar’s office
when he/she arrives in order to arrange this appointment. Except at the busiest times of the school year, the
school is able to report to you the results of the assessment day within two or three days.
Except in exceptional circumstances, returning students to BISAK who have been away from the school for a
period of 90 days or more will be required to re-take the entrance assessment to determine re-entry to an
appropriate year group.
Please note that school policy does not provide for a child to be “put back” or “pushed forward” an academic
year except in very exceptional circumstances. The entrance assessment simply helps the school to
determine whether or not a child will be able to cope within his/her year group as described by the UK
England National Curriculum. In essence, the entrance assessment is concerned with standards in written
and spoken English, and in listening and reading skills as appropriate. Skills in mathematics are also
assessed.
We are unable to accept students who we assess as working well below National Curriculum levels for their
age. Interviews for borderline students will be given.

3. Acceptance
After assessment, and confirmation of Ministry of Education approval (where applicable), the school will
contact you to offer a place in your child’s age-appropriate class, provided there is an opening. Please refer
to “Wait Lists” below.
In the event a place is not immediately available, or if a place offered is not taken within 7 weeks from the
date of the assessment, a reassessment may be necessary. * Please note, having an assessment does not
guarantee your child a place in school

4. Invoice for Tuition Fees
Upon your agreement to accept the offered place, the Business and Finance office will raise an invoice for
you. Payment guidelines and due date will appear on the invoice. Unless you request otherwise, the invoice
will be prepared for one school term.

       Half term fees
Students who commence school after mid-term pay ½ the terms fees. Mid term is defined as either
week 8 (not including Eid) in term 1 or the mid term holiday in terms 2 & 3.

Wait Lists
Because there is so much demand for school places at BISAK, we occasionally become wait-listed in some
year groups. When this is the case, your registration fee puts your child’s name on that wait list. While your
child’s name is wait-listed the school cannot apply for Ministry approval, nor will we raise an invoice. The
school follows a priority system when offering places to those on the wait lists:

                    1. British passport holders
                    2. Siblings of children already in school
                    3. Returning students
                    4. Chronological by date registration fee is paid
                       Attestation For Transfer Certificates

                             (Non British Nationals Only)

• Local school transfers within the Eastern Province do not require certificates to be attested.

• School transfers within the Kingdom require certificates to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign
Education in their region (ie Riyadh or Jeddah and not from any other embassy.

• Students entering from outside the Kingdom require their certificates to be attested by the Saudi
Embassy in the country that they are transferring from. If this is not possible, then attestation can be
obtained from the Embassies in Riyadh which relate to the country from which you are transferring.

• Students entering the Kingdom from Egypt can only have their certificates attested by the Saudi
    Embassy in Egypt.
                                                                                                                             PHOTO

Dear Parents

On occasion we plan to show some UK U- or PG-rated films, either in extract form or in their
entirety. Because by definition PG requires ‘parental guidance’, we would like you to complete the
form below stating whether or not you give permission for your son/daughter to watch the films.

For students in the Upper School extracts are also used from higher rated films to reinforce themes
and ideas explored during some lessons. These extracts are judiciously selected and do not
contain any explicit material. All films are viewed and vetted by a member of staff and further
reference is made to a range of film guides and periodicals including Leonard Maltin’s Family Film
Guide, a reputable guide that reviews and provides extensive critiques on over 1,000 family-
viewing films. In addition, please rest assured that the teacher showing the film will use his or her
own discretion and will not expose the students to any emotionally disturbing or offensive images.

Employed appropriately, we feel that film is an important educational tool and can be an inspiring
supplement to students’ theory work.

Yours sincerely

Dr Tassos Anastasiades
Principal

Sweatshirt - Pre-school to Year 10
                                           Girls and Boys
Red school monogrammed sweatshirts may be worn in the winter months for children in pre-school to
Year 6. Navy blue school monogrammed sweatshirts may be worn in the winter months for children in
Years 7 – 9. Jackets or coats may be worn to and from school, but may not be worn during school inside
the buildings.

Footwear - Pre-school to Year 10
                                        Girls and Boys
Sensible black leather school shoes should be worn for school. No boots are to be worn. Black
or dark coloured leather closed toe and heel sandals may be worn. No sling back sandals are
to be worn. Trainers are only to be worn for PE. No high top trainers are to be worn
Jewellery - Pre-school to Year 10
                                         Girls and Boys
In general, no jewellery should be worn to school, but one pair of small studs may be used by
girls who have pierced ears. In keeping with the expectations of the host country, boys are not
permitted to wear earrings, including studs.

All studs must be removed by the students themselves prior to PE, or they will be taped over for
these lessons. Please note that our PE staff are not permitted to remove any studs themselves.
Very young children can be disturbed at the prospect of having their ears taped. We strongly
prefer therefore that all jewellery be left at home. Watches may be worn for school, but must be
removed for PE. If children in lower school wear watches, we would prefer that they be
analogue watches rather than digital.

Body Adornment / Hair - Pre-school to Year 10
                                       Girls and Boys
Make-up is not to be worn to school. No nail varnish, transfers or tattoos are to be worn.

Hair ornaments should be functional and kept to a minimum. Students should have
conventional haircuts, and long hair should be tied back away from the face.
