DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH INTERN

REPORTS TO: Grant Writer
LOCATION: Lancaster, PA
The Development Research Intern is responsible to provide support to the development team,
which will primarily involve assisting the Grant Writer with prospecting foundations, investigating
potential funding sources, and undertaking special projects to better support the development team
in raising funds for HOPE’s microfinance programs.
To promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
I. Grant Prospecting and Grant Support
a. Using resources from the Foundation Directory Online and the Internet, research and
create profiles for potential funding sources and investigate donor linkages.
b. Organize and maintain a master list of the top foundations HOPE should be pursuing.
c. Prepare materials to apply for grants and report on past grants as needed.
II. Development Team Support
a. Research current events and statistics regarding HOPE’s countries of operation.
b. Send programs information and promotional materials to development representatives.
c. Examine national and regional giving trends and prepare briefings.

V. Superb internet and database research skills
VI. Ability to manage projects with minimal oversight, make effective inquiries, and scrutinize
VII. Experience compiling facts and citations in APA, MLA, or Chicago formats.
VIII. Ability to create and manage systems and think strategically
IX. Foreign language skills- Spanish and/or Russian preferred
X. International travel experience preferred
XI. Experience with the relief and development sector and/or fundraising preferred
