The basic elements discussed in a book report on nonfiction are as
follows:

       Title and theme.

                    Identify the underlying idea(s).
                    How is the title related to the theme?
                    What problems are presented?
                    How are they resolved?
                    Are the problems universal or limited to the author?
                    These are some of the questions to be considered.

       Author, point of view, and purpose.

                    Give details of the author’s life that have a bearing upon his writing.
                    What are the author’s viewpoint and purpose?

       Summary of the major points.

                    These may be events, crises, incidents, etc.

       Personal comment.
                    This is your response to the work.
                    How did it make you feel?
                    In your opinion, what are the major strengths and weaknesses of this particular work?
