Preterit v. Imperfect Project Options

Baby Book

You must create a baby book that includes photos and other objects that represent at least fifteen

significant events from your childhood and tell us about them in Spanish. Some suggestions follow:

Information about your birth—where, when, doctor, gifts you received, history of

your name, nicknames (apodos)

Describe your physical appearance—height, weight, eye color, hair color, etc.

Describe your personality—were you happy, sad, spoiled, ornery, disobedient?

Describe your home—family members, pets, house

Describe your education—preschool, kindergarten, first grade, etc.

Describe your diet—favorite foods, things you would not eat, how much you ate

Describe your habits and daily routines—friends, people you liked, favorites (games,

stories, songs, toys), things you disliked

Describe significant events in your life—illnesses, firsts [smile (sonrisa), turn over (dar vuelta), laugh

(risotada), tooth, crawl (gatear), sit up, stand up (ponerse de pie), walk, drink from a cup, words,

sentences, birthday, holidays), trips and other experiences

Describe cute things that you did or said, what you wanted to be when you grew up

Show & Tell

This project is basically the same as the baby book, except instead of putting the information into a book,

you must bring items that represent at least fifteen significant events from your childhood and tell us

about them in Spanish. Some suggestions follow:

your name, nicknames (apodos) [Birth certificate, gifts, photos]

of hair, photos]

Video or PowerPoint Presentation

This project is basically a cross between the Baby Book Project and the Show & Tell Project. You will be

selecting photos and graphics that represent at least fifteen significant events from your childhood and will

tell us about them in Spanish through a PowerPoint Presentation. Some suggestions follow:

Information about your birth—where, when, doctor, gifts you received, history of

your name, nicknames (apodos) [Birth certificate, gifts, photos]

Describe your physical appearance—height, weight, eye color, hair color, etc. [Lock

of hair, photos]

Describe your personality—were you happy, sad, spoiled, ornery, disobedient? [Home

video]

Describe your home—family members, pets, house [Photos, stuffed animals]

Describe your education—preschool, kindergarten, first grade, etc. [School-related

items]

Describe your diet—favorite foods, things you would not eat, how much you ate [Play

food]

Describe your habits and daily routines—friends, people you liked, favorites (games,

stories, songs, toys), things you disliked [Props]

Describe significant events in your life—illnesses, firsts (smile, turn over, laugh,

tooth, crawl, sit up, stand up, walk, drink from a cup, words, sentences, birthday,

holidays), trips and other experiences [Home video or props]

Describe cute things that you did or said, what you wanted to be when you grew up

[Hats]

Extinct Animal Project

This project requires you to use a piece of fruit or a vegetable and to create from it an

imaginary animal that is now extinct. You must then make a book (pop-up book, smoosh book, (see

me for patterns), big book, puppet book, read along book, etc.) that describes at least fifteen

significant pieces of information about your animal’s life (including the information that follows)

in Spanish:

Describe the animal’s physical appearance

Describe the animal’s personality

Describe the animal’s habitat—where did it live, what did the area look like

Describe the animal’s diet—favorite foods, things it would not or could not eat, how

much it ate

Describe the animal’s habits and daily routines—other related animals, predators,

things it liked to do/disliked doing, how it typically spent its days

Describe the animal’s strengths and weaknesses—things that it did well/badly

Describe how other animals or people felt about or acted toward the animal

Describe an interesting event that happened in the animal’s life one day

Explain the event that led to the animal’s extinction
