                            OVERVIEW OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION



      Signs of the time are everywhere, but the world still says, “Where are the signs of His coming?”
                                                (2 Pet. 3:3-4)


                       Characteristics of the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ

I.         A MISUNDERSTOOD BOOK
           A. Some are uninformed (Dan. 12:9-10 both A. & B.)
           B. Some are unbelieving (1 Cor. 2:14)
           C. Some are uninterested
           D. Some are unfriendly
           E. Some are untaught
           F. Some are understanding

II.        A MESSIANIC BOOK
           A. A book about Jesus Christ (Rev. 1:1)
           B. A other governments will topple (Dan 2)
           C. Reveals His Glory as Lord of Lords (Phil. 2:10-11)
              1. King of Heaven (Dan. 4:37
              2. King of the Jews (Matt. 2:2)
              3. King of Israel (Jn. 1:49)
              4. King of the Ages (1 Tim. 1:17)
              5. King of Glory (Ps. 24:7)
              6. King of the Saints (Rev. 15:3)
              7. King of Kings (Rev. 19:16)

III.       A MYSTERIOUS BOOK
           A. Divine Spiritual
              1. In the body (Physical)
              2. Out of the body (Spiritual)
           B. Symbolic
              1. Symbols not weakened by time
              2. Symbols arouse emotion
              3. Symbols are a Spiritual code

IV.        A MEANINGFUL BOOK
           A. Spirit of God opened the Book (Rev. 22:10) versus (Dan 12:4)
           B. Spirit of God outlined the Book (Rev. 1:19)
              1. Things you have seen – God in Glory (Chapter 1)
              2. Thing which are – The Church on Earth (Chapters 2 & 3)
              3. The things which shall be hereafter – Government of the Future (Chapters 4-22)
           C. Spirit of God interprets the Book (ex: Rev 1:16 & 1:20; 1:13 &1:20; 4:5; 5:6; 5:8; 9:1 &
              9:11; 12:4 & 12:9; 17:1 & 17:15; 19:8)

V.         A MIRACULOUS BOOK

VI.     A MOTIVATIONAL BOOK
        A. Can be blessed for simply reading (Rev. 1:3; 22:7)
        B. Seven distinct beatitudes Blessed are those who:
           1. Read and hear (1:3)
           2. Die in the Lord (14:13)
           3. Watch and keep their garment clean (16:15) (1 Tim. 5:24)
           4. Called to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (19:9)
           5. Part in the 1st resurrection (20:6)
           6. Keep the words of the prophecy of this book (22:7)

VII.    A MAJESTIC BOOK

VIII.   A MAXIMAL BOOK

        C. Genesis the dawn of Satan and his activities – Revelation the doom of Satan and his
           activities
        D. Genesis you have the tree of life relinquished – Revelation the tree of life regained
        E. Genesis death makes its entrance – Revelation death makes its exit
        F. Genesis sorrow begins – Revelation sorrow is banished

IX.     A MILITANT BOOK (12:11) & (12:7-10)
        A. Promises to the Overcomers with EARS TO HEAR
           1. I will give to eat of the tree of life (2:7)
           2. Shall not be hurt by the second death (2:11)
           3. I will give some of the hidden manna to eat (2:17)
           4. Power over the nations (2:26)
           5. Clothed in white garments (3:5)
           6. Make him a pillar in the Temple of my God (3:12)

           8. Inherit all things and will be a son of God (21:7)
        B. How do we become Overcomers (Rom 8:37-39)
           1. Overcomers by the blood of the Lamb (7:14)
           2. Overcomers by the word of their testimony (Rom.2 1:16)
           3. Overcomers by not loving their lives to the death (Phil. 1:21)




                          Revelation is a book for present and future Overcomers.
