WOMEN’S HEALTH JOURNAL CLUB GUIDELINES Women’s Health Journal Club is an excellent opportunity to further develop critical skills in data analysis and evidence based medicine. Below are some general guidelines: 1) WH Journal Club will meet one Tuesday morning per month from 7:30-8:15 am in the Housestaff Library on the 5th floor of AD Williams unless otherwise noted. All WH residents are required to attend if they are assigned to ACC clinic the day of Journal Club. The schedule for presenters will be emailed to the WH listserve so please check your email regularly. 2) Residents should choose a paper that is current and highly relevant to Women’s Health. An excellent resource for articles is: www.menopause.org/news.htm Not only is there a listing of important articles from multiple disciplines, but, if one clicks on the month, it will open up to brief synopses that describe the various studies. 3) Residents are strongly encouraged to visit the Journal Club section on the ERIC website prior to each journal club. 4) At the start of each Journal Club, the resident in charge needs to present “The Statistical Minute.” This should be a 3 minute review of a statistical measure or concept chosen from the Basic Statistics section of the ERIC Journal Club section. 5) Communications • Two-three weeks in advance, an article needs to be identified, run by Dr. Salley, Dr. Call or a Chief Resident, and then emailed to the group via the WH listserv (IM-WH@LISTS.VCU.EDU) • One week prior to Journal Club, please email the article (not just the citation) again to the group. • Two days prior to Journal Club, PLEASE SEND A REMINDER along with the article yet again. 6) The article citation must be emailed to both Maia LaVallee (email@example.com) and Janett Forte (firstname.lastname@example.org), Center of Excellence coordinator, so that it can be archived.
