Figurative Language Project English Language Arts 8 Unit 3: Behind the Ink Objective: Create a flip-chart booklet of figurative language definitions to understand the literal and figurative meaning of words while improving vocabulary. Criteria: 1. Definitions: The following Definitions are required: Simile Hyperbole Metaphor Allusion Symbolism Personification You MUST choose an additional TWO from the list below: Idiom Alliteration Cliché Onomatopoeia Adage Repetition Personification Assonance 2. Examples: Each of the definitions will require three examples. One of the examples must be from one a poem that you have gathered during the unit, or one that we have covered as a class. The other two of the examples can be from any other source or your personal creation.
