JOINT VENTURE APPOINTED CONSULTANT FOR DELHI AIRPORT RAIL LINK
DELHI, INDIA — The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has named a joint venture including PB as the general
consultant for the Delhi Airport Rail Link, a four-station, 19-kilometer (11.8-mile) express rail line that will
connect Indira Gandhi International Airport and the city center. The Airport Rail Link is being delivered as
a public-private partnership (PPP) and is due to open in time for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The joint venture is led by Pacific Consultants International of Japan and also includes Japan Railway
Technical Services, Tonichi Engineering of Japan, Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES)
of India and PB. The joint venture will provide a range of services throughout the development of the rail
link, and initially will prepare tender documents, oversee the bidding process and award of contacts to the
project, followed by design review and approvals. Once contractors have been appointed, the joint
venture will supervise and monitor all contractors, design consultants, suppliers and manufacturers.
Responsibilities will also include safety assurance, verification of testing, trials and commissioning of
systems, planning for operations and maintenance and training of DMRC personnel.
