    Changes in the health care landscape from the policy, consumer, and payor sides put greater priority on attaining high
    performance in patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and efficient resource management. Most notably, a pay for
    performance (P4P) system will likely be implemented in the home health industry in the next one to three years. It is
    reasonable to expect that the initial P4P model will be built on OASIS outcome data, but that the next evolution will
    include data on patient satisfaction with care. Now is the time to understand how these critical indicators of agency
    performance are (or are not) related, and how we can use that information to improve in all areas of patient home care.

    Press Ganey partnered with Outcome Concept Systems (OCS) and a shared client to explore the relationship between
    patient satisfaction, OASIS data, and visit utilization data. The hope is that by fully understanding this relationship,
    Press Ganey clients will be able to use patient satisfaction data alongside OASIS data to better differentiate the needs
    of patients and target quality improvement initiatives accordingly.

    OCS is a health care information company with the nation’s largest and most comprehensive set of measures spanning
    clinical outcomes, financial performance, resource utilization, and operational indicators for home care, hospice, and
    private duty programs. Among other services, OCS manages Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data and
    reporting to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for over 1,500 clients.
