University’s campuses.

What chemicals or substances (incl. fuel) will
you be bringing on campus?


Will all the containers be properly labelled?
Will you have copies of all MSDS with you?
Will you have a spill kit with you, relevant to
the chemical and situation (outside; enclosed
spaces..) ?
Are you trained in the use of the spill kits?
How will you dispose of empty containers,
surplus chemicals and used spill kits?
Stormwater - No contaminant including sand and wash down water can enter stormwater drains or surface water.
Water is not to be used to clean up sand or
other fine material in stormwater drains or
surface water. How will you clean up your work
area?
How will you control material such sand, grass,
mulch and other material from entering
stormwater drains or surface water?
Do you have temporary containment barriers
to prevent contaminated water entering
stormwater drains or surface water?
Trees and vegetation - The Responsible Officer will help you identify significant trees.
How will you protect trees and vegetation from
equipment, vehicle traffic and work activities?
Waste - Contractors are asked to take all waste away.
How are you going to handle all the waste
generated in the work area?
If using a skip on site, will it need to be
covered to avoid wind blown litter or dust?
JSAs
Do the JSAs include all the relevant items
above?
Employee Communication
How are your going to communicate these
guidelines to your employees?
