In certain cases, OneNote will continually try to ping a server to upload changes even though it has received an
error that says that it could not upload the changes. This typically happens with read-only sections, and OneNote

.lddprototype, .sdm, .sdmDocument, .mdf, .ldf, .exclude, and .refresh.
Before SP2, when a user tried to embed a file that had one of these extensions, a synchronization error would
occur. Additionally, OneNote would not synchronize that section and would not give a meaningful error message.
Now in SP2, when a user tries to embed one of these file types in a OneNote shared notebook on SharePoint,
OneNote appends the .oneattachedfile extension to that embedded file and uploads it to SharePoint. To the user, it
looks like the same file. On the server, there is an appended .oneattachedfile extension.

If you create a callout shape on a slide, you change the callout line to have a new end type (such as an arrow), you
animate the shape, and then you run the animation (typically by previewing animations), PowerPoint crashes.
If you select a PowerPoint file in the Vista File Explorer, and the preview pane turned is on, you can open, change,
save, and close the document without experiencing an error. However, no file changes are saved.
If you set the optional ExportBitmapResolution registry key so that a specific resolution is used for exporting
images, saved images are cropped.
In certain situations that involve the DELETE key and an IME, PowerPoint crashes.
In PowerPoint 2007, you save a file that has subtle text formatting (such as a bevel) in a .ppt format. When you
open the saved file, a picture image of the text may appear underneath the text shape. Depending on whether
formatting was supported in the original format, either the text shape should appear or the picture image of the
text should appear. However, both should not appear.
In PowerPoint, 3D charts may not render correctly if the presentation is opened in high contrast mode.
In PowerPoint, white text in charts does not correctly invert to black when you print or view the charts in grayscale.
In SharePoint, you try to open a PowerPoint presentation. If the URL has more than 255 characters, the
presentation does not open. Instead, an empty PowerPoint presentation appears.
PowerPoint 2007 crashes when a text shape is partially covering a chart text element and the user attempts to
select the chart text element.
PowerPoint crashes when an application or add-in tries to paste an Excel chart into a slide.
PowerPoint may compress pictures every time that you save a presentation instead of compressing the pictures
only the first time that you save the presentation. Therefore, it takes longer to save the presentation than it should.
PowerPoint tries to use the internal information of TTY printers to aid in text layout. However, the drivers for TTY
printers, such as the Windows "Generic/Text Only" drivers, do not correctly use TrueType fonts. Therefore, the text
Printer drivers provide some layout information to PowerPoint. Some printer drivers provide incorrect information
to PowerPoint, which causes text to be misaligned when it is printed. PowerPoint now determines whether the
information that the printer driver provides is correct.
The export image commands support an optional registry key that sets the resolution. However, if the resolution is
set to a high value, the image is rendered incorrectly.
The export image commands support an optional registry key that sets the resolution. That value is supposed to be
307 or less. If the resolution is set to an inappropriate value, the image is rendered incorrectly.
The selection highlight in the thumbnail pane may sometimes incorrectly indicate that a slide is selected.
When user-created theme files contain master layouts, and these master layouts have applied styles that have the
language property set to en-us, the language property is lost. Additionally, the spelling checker stops working.
When you use the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack to save to 2007 formats, the hyperlink sub-address property may
be lost. When this happens, some hyperlinks may break.
When you use the Ricoh Aficio 1022/1027/1032 PCL6 or PCL5e printer drivers to print from PowerPoint 2007, text is
misplaced on the printout.

Consider the scenario in which a project has been edited and saved by one user and then while that user has the
project open, it is force checked in. Then, a second user opens the project and clicks Cancel on the message telling
them that the project has been modified by another user. The second user opens it again and instead of seeing the
message again, the project opens, and the edits of the first user are lost.
Custom code that uses the Project object model to update custom field lookup tables did not perform quickly. For
instance, code that updates 1000 lookup table records that used to take about two minutes now takes a few
For Project Professional languages that support phonetics, the custom field "Add Field to Enterprise" functionality
does not work if a custom field has a lookup table and if any of the phonetic values are blank.
If changes are made and saved to a checked-out offline project and then the project is published immediately after
Project Professional is connected back to the server, Project may not actually publish the information.
If the Active Cache size limit is exceeded when you save an already-open project, you receive a warning message
telling you the cache size has been exceeded. However, the project is not saved.
If you assign a cost resource to a task using the resource initials field, Project crashes.
If you have a Fixed Units task with a Must Finish On constraint, when you edit timephased actual overtime work,
the task behaves like a Fixed Work task instead. This means that when you change the task's duration, the
assignment's units change instead of the work value.
If you have nested subprojects and you open the top level master projects as read-only, the nested subprojects may
get opened with read-write access instead of being opened read-only.
If you save a project to the XML file format, and you have a resource where the maximum units are less than 100
percent, the maximum units change to 0 percent or to 100 percent when the XML file is opened.
If you save to the 2003 MPP format, you may find that tasks you deleted reappear as blank rows. For example, you
have three tasks, T1, T2, and T3, with IDs 1, 2, and 3. You delete T2. Instead of T3 becoming task ID 2, it is still task
ID 3, and a blank row is where T2 used to belong.
If you use the Gantt Chart Wizard, the Gantt bar names as seen in the Bar Styles dialog box are changed to
unrecognizable characters.
In Project 2007, you open a Project 2003 MPP file that contains a large lookup table. This may take a very long time.
In some cases, when a project is saved to the server and the save process fails, the next time you try to save the
project, not all changes are saved.
In some situations, a project's data can get damaged in the local cache. After this happens, Project may still attempt
to save the bad data to the Project server and may fail in the process. Then, you receive error messages that
resemble the following:

<error id="12005" name="ActiveCacheQueuedMessageExecutionError" Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint
'PK_MSP_PROJECT_CALENDARS'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'MSP_PROJECT_CALENDARS'. Violation of
PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_MSP_PROJECT_CALENDARS'.

Now, Project goes through a process to fix the data before saving.
In the French, Portuguese, Polish and Hungarian language versions of Project Professional, when you insert a field
into a task or resource views you see an error message stating that the field does not exist.
Because of password encoding/decoding changes in Project 2007, when you add and remove passwords from the
same project file by using the "Save As" function, the passwords may become damaged, and you cannot open the
files. As an example, you have a password associated with a project, and you Save As to remove the password.
Later, you open the file, but you are prompted for a password. No matter what you enter, you cannot open the file
On some projects, when you attempt to level them on a day-by-day basis, Project hangs.
Password protection is removed from an MPP file, and during the process, you Save As the file to a new name.
When you open the file a subsequent time, you are prompted to enter a password, and you are unable to open the
Project Professional may crash if you set a task to use a dependency on a deliverable. This occurs if the deliverable
has been deleted from the SharePoint list but the project hasn't yet been updated to reflect this change.
Project Professional may crash in the following scenario. While connected to a server, you create, save, and close a
project. Later, you delete the project from your local cache, and then while working offline, you create and save a
project with the same name. Later, when Project Professional goes back online, it crashes.
Some formulas don't work correctly when the system list separator is a semicolon. As an example, the following
formula works correctly when the list separator is a comma but fails when it is a semicolon:
Switch(([duration]=1 or [duration]=3)=true;"one";([duration]=2 or [duration]=4)=true;"two";[duration]>4;"more")
The ProjectBeforeSave event may not work correctly if a project is being closed as a part of the save process. The
error "Run-time error '1004': An unexpected error occurred with this method." is seen.
The results of sorting and renumbering a task or resource list are not saved. For example, a task's ID equals 5, and
after sorting and renumbering, the ID equals 2. After saving and reopening the project, you find that the ID equals 5
When additional work is added to assignments that are on fixed duration tasks, the new work is spread incorrectly
over a longer duration than expected. For instance, if you have an assignment that has 24h of actual work and then
you increase the work to 32h, instead of the work being spread over an additional day, it is spread over three
When fixed costs are assigned to summary tasks, the accrual may not be correct. Instead of the cost getting spread
across the task's duration, it gets spread to the earliest finish date of any of the summary task's subtasks.
When you enter a time-phased zero (0) Actual Overtime Work value at the beginning of an assignment, the
assignment remaining work does not get rescheduled properly. Instead, the zero Actual Overtime Work entry is
ignored and the work is not rescheduled.
When you save from Project Professional or from Project Standard to the XML file format, a resource's Maximum
Units value is not saved correctly. For example, if a resource's Maximum Units value is set to 50 percent, the value
changes to 100 percent when you save it to the XML file format.
You cannot set a task dependency predecessor or successor lag time by using VBA. For example, you run the
following code:
ActiveSelection.Tasks(1).TaskDependencies.Add From:=ActiveProject.Tasks(1), Type:=pjStartToStart, Lag:="2d"
When you do this, you receive the following error message:
Run-time error '1101';
The argument value is not valid.
You have a resource with multiple cost rate tables defined. You are working in the Resource Usage view, where you
see the timephased cost both at the assignment and resource level. Next, you change the assignment to use a
different cost rate table. After this change, you see the new cost on the assignment, but it has not rolled up to the
resource. Changing the view and coming back shows the correct value.
You start Project Professional, and you connect to a server profile in the offline mode. Later in Project Professional,
you select the Work Offline command to go back online. But, Project Professional still says offline.
Your project has task durations that are less than one day, and you save to the XML format. When you open the
XML file, these durations are changed to one day (1d).

Compatibility and rendering improvements for the PDF and XPS export functionality
Design Checker never finishes when you use the Separations setting in the Advanced Print Setup dialog box.
For some print drivers, the print preview is displayed in grayscale when it should be displayed in color.
HTML rendered from Publisher may not be displayed correctly in Internet Explorer 8. Objects may disappear or
show up in unexpected positions.
Pages are dropped when you print multiple booklets on the same sheet.
PDF and XPS export functionalities are now built in to Office and no longer require separate downloads.
Publisher does not start when the "Decimal symbol" or the "Digit grouping symbol" is more than one character.
Sharing, backing-up, or migrating Content Library files could fail due to a file name issue.
Tab stops align to decimal points incorrectly.
Users cannot make the front side match the back side when they print double-sided, N-up publications such as
When you send e-mails on a Windows Vista-based computer, Publisher may start the right program when you
change the default e-mail program.

When a workflow changes a list item and is set to trigger when items are changed in the list, the workflow
continues to trigger itself indefinitely.
When you configure data views by using the on-object property panel in Chinese (Hong Kong), certain strings
incorrectly appear in English.
When you delete the primary list form Web part for a list, you receive no warning that the list may break.
When you look up an empty string within a declarative workflow, question marks are erroneously displayed.
When you post back data from an ASP.NET control in a data form Web part, the data form does not remember the
state of the parameters.
When you post back data from an ASP.NET control, SharePoint Designer uses the wrong parameter value.
When you restore a SharePoint site from an STP site template, data views are broken because of errors in the GUID.
When you use a data form against a SharePoint Server list that uses lookup fields, SharePoint Server does not
submit the form correctly if the lookup source has 20 or more values.
When you use a data form against a SQL Server data source, SQL Server ignores empty text values when you submit
You are not advised of any potential upgrade issues with your current SharePoint site configuration.
You cannot successfully configure a Web part connection that contains a SharePoint Server filtering Web part.

Appointments in a Microsoft Office Outlook calendar do not import into Visio when the language version of Visio
and the Windows locale setting are different.
If a Visio file name contains the -r- or -s- characters (for example, “filename -r-”), it triggers a repair of the
application when the file is opened in Visio 2007.
In a UML Model Diagram, changing the Flow Kind of a Message Object does not correctly reset the Operation field
in the UML Message Properties dialog box.
Script errors occur when Windows Internet Explorer 8 is used to browse Web pages that are saved from Visio.
Visio crashes when the 117th layer is added to the page.
When a shape is dragged between two instances of Visio, the open regions of the shape are opaque, and this makes
it difficult to position the shape on the new page.
When a user creates a new blank drawing, the user cannot select a font size from the font size drop-down list box in
the Formatting toolbar. This issue is fixed in SP2.
When a Visio drawing is inserted as a linked object in PowerPoint, Word, or Excel, and the link is updated, the
quality of the image degrades.
When the Reports feature is used to create a report in Microsoft Office Excel, Excel opens without any user
interface except the worksheet window. The ribbon does not appear.

Allow a return to the start of the document and a search to continue for next editable region.
Encrypting a document causes the file size to increase significantly.
If you add an equation to a document that is protected with IRM, and then you save the document, that document
cannot be opened, even by an authorized user.
If you set the default save format in Microsoft Office Word while Microsoft Office Outlook is running, you close
both programs, and you open Microsoft Office Outlook before you open Microsoft Office Word, then the default
Inserting a Quick Part that contains customer XML causes the XML tags to be reordered incorrectly.
OOXML schemas were updated to only specify a single import statement for each namespace.
Opening a file that has XML tags and afChuck tags causes data corruption in some cases.

The Find or Replace commands incorrectly match a forward slash character (“/”) with any inserted picture.
The performance of the Resume sequence on a laptop is slow if Microsoft Office Word was running when the
system was stopped.
The property panel closes without any action from the user when the document recovery file is saved or when the
user explicitly saves the file.
The status bar displays "Running Virus Scan" for all new documents, and the message persists until a user action
updates the status bar.
Triggering the spelling suggestions list requires two right-clicks instead of one.
When registry keys are set to block specific file formats from opening, an inaccurate message that requests the user
to install the compatibility pack appears when the user tries to open a DocM file.
When you are editing a header by using content controls, the pointer disappears, and then the document shifts
When you are typing in a table that is inside an HTML document (and this includes e-mail messages), the content of
