A Message from our President
Happy New Year to all guild members. I hope your Christmas was happy
and Santa filled all stockings. Now is the time to relax and plan for the year
2008.

Forty members attended the December meeting and luncheon. After eating
the excellent food, Edwina entertained with music and song. It is always a
delight to hear her sing. Also, thanks to the luncheon committee, Marji
McKinley, Jan Lally, Sue Wilson and Nancy Hayob. Good Job Ladies.

At the January meeting, I will bring cards for you to sign with your name and
a quilting project that you plan to finish by the September meeting. In
September, you will bring the finished project and show it. Your name will
then be entered in a drawing and a prize will be given to the lucky person
whose name is drawn. Choose your project to complete, remember what you
choose and good luck.
                                         Nadine

member to look at the photos which others have posted. These photos are from
regular folks like all of us. There is a search box in the top middle of the webpage.
Put in a word/words, such as – rag quilt – and you will get lots and lots of pictures to
look through. Lots of ideas and inspiration!

           Boutique:
Quilt Show Boutique time is closing in on us. It is a short time from
January to April and perhaps on the days you are snowed in, you
might consider making an item for the boutique.
In the past, the best sellers were items for quilters--threadcatchers,
pincushions, needle books, orphan blocks. If you see an item that was
a success at another show, please let us know.
Our show will be before Mother's Day so perhaps we can market some
items as great gifts for mom.
If you declutter your stash, please consider donating old magazines and books.
Joy, our librarian, will keep these items until show day. There are a number of free
patterns on the internet. Try googling, "pincushion pattern", "free tote pattern", or
"needlecase patterns". Do not forget the silent auction.

I have been given a donation of decent sized upholstery fabric samples from Crate
and Barrel. I would be glad to give them to those who can use them to make items
for our boutique or to those who would use them in a charity project. Call me. Joan

We had a wonderful Christmas luncheon. Several people were interested in
the following recipe, from Elly Gray.

                     Striped Rainbow Jell-O Salad

1 sm. Box black cherry 1 sm. Box orange Jell-O
 or grape Jell-O

1 sm. Box cherry Jell-O 1 sm. Box peach Jell-O

1 sm. Box lime Jell-O 1 sm. Box strawberry Jell-O

 1 sm. Box lemon Jell-O 1 ½ c. sweetened condensed
                                   milk

For the black cherry/grape, lime, orange and strawberry flavors:
Mix each flavor of Jell-O with ¾ cup hot water and ¾ cup cold
water.

For the cherry, lemon and peach flavors: Mix each flavor with ½
cup hot water, ½ cup cold water and ½ cup sweetened condensed
milk.

Prepare ONE layer at a time in order (black cherry/grape, cherry,
lime, lemon, orange, peach and strawberry). The first layer takes
the longest to set up.

Hint: If you want to hurry it up a bit – put glass dish (9” x 13”) in
the freezer for about 15 minutes before you start. After each
layer sets up, you may make and pour the next layer. It takes
about 30 minutes to set up once the first layer is done. For best
results, make sure your refrigerator is level. Serves 12 – 18.
