Overview: I am going to write the procedure about how to save your friends or your family members phone number on your cell phone. I strongly recommend reading the instruction manual that I am providing to you. First, you need a cell phone, a brand of LG model number VX4400. You can save up to 99 phone numbers in this cell phone. So that you don’t need to dial the number every time you call the person you want to. Note: This instruction manual works only for LG Model# VX4400. Objective: To familiarize an individual with how to use the features of the cell phone. {Not really. You are showing the user how to enter phone numbers into memory for speed dialing. } Assumptions: Cell phone battery is inserted in the cell phone properly. Battery is fully charged so that the cell phone is ready to use. The individual who is using this instruction has a VX4400 model cell phone. The user is familiarized with all kinds of buttons on the cell phone.
You may want to include a picture of the buttons and displays that are needed for this process.

Procedure: 1) Hold the cell phone in your left or right hand whichever is suitable for you. Using your thumb, of the same hand that’s holding the cell phone, flip up the top cover of your cell phone. Following shows the picture of the flipped cell phone. Figure 1 Title

2) Press the topmost left button of your cell phone, using your thumb of the same hand that you are holding your cell phone. This will direct you to the next screen. Where you will see bunch of icons with numbered. All the icons convey or direct you to the specific features of the cell phone. Overall there should be 9 icons that are numbered from 1-9. So each time you press the numbers on your cell phone it will direct you to that feature and can start using it or make any changes. 3) After getting on the icon screen press “number 2” on your cell phone this will direct you to “Phone Book” section. You will see bunch of list on that screen displayed orderly. In all there will be 6 lists. We are interested in number 2 list that says “New Entry”. Press “number 2” on your cell phone that will direct you to another screen which is blank or you can say blank text. If you note carefully, the heading would say “Enter Number”. You can enter any phone number you wish to and then press “OK” button that‟s located in the center of the four directional circular buttons.
4) Once you enter the phone number it will direct you to the next screen having bunch of labels marked as: a) Home b) Home 2 c) Office d) Office 2 e) Mobile f) Mobile 2 g) Pager h) Fax i) Fax 2 j) None. 5) Using “four directional circular buttons” you can move the cursor up and down to select the particular label for the phone number you entered. Once the label is selected or highlighted press “OK” button. Note: By default label “Home” will be highlighted. 6) After pressing “OK” it will direct you to the next screen where you will be asked to enter the individual name whose phone number it belongs to that you just entered.
7) To enter name: If you notify carefully there are alphabets printed on the numbers from 2-9. It goes this way: 2: abc, 3: def, 4: ghi and so on. Enter the name of the person with his starting alphabet of his name and rest follows. Here is the tricky part if the person‟s name starts from „C‟ then you have to press the numbered button „2‟ thrice so that „c‟ is displayed on the screen. So each time you press the numbered button‟2‟ it displays the first alphabet and then subsequent. Make sure there

should be a zero time delay in displaying alphabet „C‟ otherwise the screen will be displayed as “Abc”. Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the name. {this step is very unclear in particular.} 8) If you also want to enter person‟s last name you can do so by pressing “space” button located on the bottom right of the cell phone. Then repeat the above procedure to enter the last name. If you don‟t want to enter last name you can just press „OK‟ button. After pressing the „OK‟ button it will display the message “Phone book entry saved”. You can flip down the cover of your cell phone. You are all set. Repeat the same procedures to save another phone number. 9) To check whether the phone number is saved or not. Flip up the cover of your cell phone and then press the topmost right button of your cell phone, that will get you to the phone book where all the names of your friends or family is displayed in an alphabetic order. Search for the particular person by pressing their first alphabet of their name. If more than one name exists under same alphabet you can scroll down the cursor using „four directional buttons‟ by pressing down button and look for the particular name. Troubleshooting: You entered the wrong name: You can erase it by pressing „CLR‟ button.
You should use one type of font throughout the file. You need to fix the grammar and writing problems. You may want to work with Janet Bodner to work on this. You need to work on word choice, article use and number agreement. Many of the instructions are unclear and you make many errors. You assume that we know all the buttons but even so, much of what you are giving is not presented in a way a user can follow. Grade = 72
