          Catering Services Menu
The catering office is located on the Truax Campus, room 129E, or you can call 246-6667.
Whether you are planning an informal continental breakfast, a working lunch or a formal dinner, the
catering staff will provide the day with a distinctive touch. To make your event a success, please
use the information below as a guide.

         Food Service/Catering Policies
For a complete statement of MATC Catering Policies, please see the back
                         portion of this menu.
    1. Catering requests at MATC can be made by calling Brad Kahn at 246-6667, or via e-mail
       at kahn@matcmadison.edu.
           a. Clients must complete a catering requisition form, which can be obtained from
               food services via e-mail or at our web site:

           b. Please fill out separate requisitions for separate meals.
    2. Please make all arrangements for your event and submit the required form at least one
       week in advance, if possible.
           a. Please submit your final, guaranteed food count 48 business hours prior to the
               event.
    3. After-hours catering will be assessed a fee of $50 and may be required to have at least
       one additional service attendant at a rate of $20 per hour.

         HOURS:
         Truax          Monday-Thursday 7:45 A.M. 6:00 P.M.
                        Friday 7:45 A.M. and after 4.00 P.M.
         DTEC           Monday-Friday 7:45 A.M. 2:00 P.M.

    4. MATC Catering has the right of first refusal, meaning all catering requests must be
         submitted through food services.
             a. If it is determined that food services can’t handle the request, the Catering
                 Coordinator will e-mail written consent for outside catering.
    5.   Please build in an extra 15 minutes lead time for set-up of your event.
    6.   Please make sure you have included a room number for delivery (unless you plan to pick-
         up) and a chartfield number or billing address.
    7.   MATC Catering is not responsible for room set-up. Please contact MATC Facilities.
    8.   Returned canned goods and other non-perishables are subject to a $.50 per item re-
         stocking fee.

                                Tablecloths/Napkins
MATC Catering provides tablecloths for food service tables only. White linen tablecloths and cloth
napkins can be provided upon request for an additional charge of $5.00 per tablecloth and $.25 per
napkin. All catered events are served on high-quality disposable serviceware. If china service is
desired, please discuss with the catering office when making your arrangements. A fee of
$1.50/person will be charged for china service.

         Food Service/Catering Policies
                          PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING CATERING
Catering requests at MATC can be provided by calling Catering Coordinator Brad Kahn at 246-6667, or via e-mail at
kahn@matcmadison.edu. To request catering from the Cafeteria Food Services, clients must complete a Catering
Requisition Form. This form can be obtained from food services via e-mail or at our web site:

To provide you with the best possible service we ask that you make all arrangements for your event and submit the
required form at least one week in advance, with the final (guaranteed) food count submitted 48 business hours prior to
the event. Any request made without one week’s notification will need the approval of the catering coordinator or their
designee.

During periods when food services are not in operation, an extra fee of $50 will be assessed. Those times are at the
Truax Campus Monday-Thursday before 7:45 A.M. and after 6:00 P.M. Fridays before 7:45 A.M. and after 4:00 P.M.
and Saturdays and Sundays. The DTEC hours are Monday-Friday before 7:45 A.M. and after 2:00 P.M. and Saturdays
and Sundays. During non-operational hours, all caterings may be required to have at least one additional service
attendant at a rate of $20 per hour.

An alternative method of obtaining catering services at MATC is to utilize the skills and expertise of the Culinary Arts
Department. As an institution of higher education, the learning and development of students is essential to our mission.
Therefore, the services provided through the Culinary Arts Department are excluded from the “right of first refusal”
program granted to the Cafeteria Food Service operation. Currently, the Culinary Arts Department operates the
following services (primarily at the Truax Campus) as part of their curriculum: Retail Bake Shop/Ancora Espresso,
Baking Club Sales, Gourmet Dining Room, Connoisseurs Club Sales (Including catering special events and functions),
Production Kitchen sales, the Catering course (currently offered during the Spring Semester), and the in-house
Catering Services. Through these catering opportunities, students are provided with an educational environment that
exposes them to real-life experiences and challenges.
                              SPECIAL MENUS, OUTSIDE CATERERS
As stated above, foodservice has the right of first refusal, meaning all catering requests must be submitted through
food services. Once the request is received the catering coordinator will review it to determine if the enterprise can
accommodate the service. If it is determined that food services can’t handle the request, the catering coordinator will e-
mail written consent for an outside vendor.

A waiver is not necessary for informal gatherings, meetings or social events where attendees might bring food or
beverages. However, said gatherings must be less than 60 people, with no non-MATC personnel involved.

Occasionally, special menu items (i.e. authentic ethnic meals) are requested which are best accommodated by an
outside provider. In those cases an outside vendor may be hired to provide the service only after you have submitted
a written request for a waiver and received permission from the food service supervisor or their designee.

PLEASE NOTE -that no invoices for an outside cater or food bought with an MATC purchasing card will be
paid by the finance office without a waiver of the right of first refusal by the catering coordinator or their
designee. The Culinary Arts Department courses & Enterprise Activities are considered internal vendors.
                  GUARANTEES, CANCELLATIONS & SERVICE OPTIONS
An estimated count must be given when you plan your event and submit your form, at least a week prior to your event.
The final (guaranteed) food/guest count must be submitted 48 working hours prior to the event. If a final (guaranteed)
food count is not provided within the specified time line, you will be charged for the estimated count or actual number of
guests attended, whichever is greater. Should you need to cancel your event or food order, notification must be
received at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the event. If notification of cancellation is not made within forty-eight
hours, you will be charged for the final (guaranteed) count.
