3 . Personal statement of Alfons Vansteenwegen , PhD.

As a professor of sexology at the University of Leuven and as a couple/sex therapist at the University
Clinics of Leuven I have a long experience of sex therapy, of research in the field of sexuality, teaching
sexology and of the collaboration between practicing sexologists of different backgrounds

I have management experience as president of the Flemish Society of Sexology, as president of the
Institute of Family and Sexuality Studies and also as president of the Flemish Society of Couple and
Family Therapists.

I want to commit myself to the European Society of Sexology with a special attention for the practicing
sexologists in Europe. I want to contact the EU Counsil of the European Union in order to defend the
position of sexology and sexologists in Europe. I want to promote a collaboration between the medical
sexologists and the other sexologists, in order to reinforce the position of sexology in general.

I am strongly in favor of an European Journal of Sexology wherein research, clinical practice, prevention
and education in the field of sexology are presented.

I have good contacts with the English speaking, the French speaking and the German speaking world of
sexology and couple therapy. I have good contacts with the behavioral, the psychoanalytic and the
systems oriented couple therapists. My books are available in six languages. I could have a bridging
function in EFS.

I want a good collaboration and a real European presence in the World Association of Sexology (WAS).

I will have a lot of time to spend for the EFS.

-----

                                                                                                        6
4. Endorsement.
I have the support of the Flemish Society of Sexology and of the Institute of Family and Sexuality
Studies.

                                                                                                7
