Tools Who’s Online The Who’s Online channel enables you to chat in real time with any users that are enrolled in the same course and are logged into WebCT at the same time as you are. In the Who’s Online channel in the My WebCT area it will list all the courses you have access to, as well as the number of users that are online. See figure 1-22 Figure 1-22 1. Click on the course name within the Who’s Online channel to access the Who’s Online tool. The Who’s Online screen displays showing the number of users online in that particular course as seen in figure 1-23. Figure 1-23 From this screen you may change your Status from Visible/Available to Visible/Unavailable or to Invisible. You may also send a chat invitation to any of the users that display on the screen. For any other functions and options available in the Who’s Online tool please refer to Chapter 7: Who’s Online. Calendar There are two calendar channels available in the My WebCT area. These are Calendar Day and Calendar Week. 1. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the Calendar Day heading. The Calendar Day screen will display as seen in figure 1-24. Figure 1-24 In the Calendar Day screen you may:     Add an entry Create a printable view Access calendar settings Delete entries To find out how to do any of these options please refer to Chapter 2: Calendar. 2. To access the Calendar Week channel click on the pencil icon to the right of the Calendar Week channel. The Calendar Week displays as seen in figure 1-25. Figure 1-25 In the Calendar Week screen you may:      Add entries View a different week View different calendars Access calendar settings Create a printable view To see how to do any of these options please refer to Chapter 2: Calendar. Mail You may access a global Mail tool from the My WebCT area. This enables you to see the Mail tools in all the courses that you have access to from a central area. 1. Click on the Mail icon in the My WebCT area. The Mail screen displays as seen in figure 1-26. Figure 1-26 This screen displays a folder for each course that you have access to. In figure 126 two course/section Mail folders display. The Mail tool folders in figure 1-26 are 01 and Astronomy-SA. To access that particular section or course Mail area you would click on the course name to open the folder. 2. Click on one of your mail folders. The Mail screen opens as seen in figure 127. Figure 1-27 The Mail tool for the particular course you selected displays. The following folders display in the left frame of the mail tool: Inbox, Sent mail, Drafts and Delete Mail. In the right hand frame the messages in the selected folder display. You may create messages from this location. For any instruction on how to use the Mail tool, please refer to Chapter 5: Mail. To Do list The To Do List in the My WebCT area enables you to create a list of items you need to do. You may prioritise the items in the list by adding a number to the item. 1. Click on the pencil icon to the right of the To Do List channel heading. The To Do List screen displays. See figure 1-28. Figure 1-28 In the To Do List screen you may either add an item or print the list using the Printable Version button. 2. Click on the Add Item button. The Add Item screen displays as seen in figure 1-29. Figure 1-29 3. Insert what you need to do in the Item text text box as seen in figure 129. 4. Select the priority of this item by clicking on the Priority drop-down menu and selecting a number from 1 to 9. 5. Click on the Save button. If the item you placed in the To Do text box exceeds 20 characters a warning window will appear. This warning window states “ The item exceeds 20 characters and will appear as: Continue document… in the To Do List Channel of you’re my WebCT.” WebCT will not display the full item if it exceeds twenty characters. It will partially display the item. See figure 1-30. Figure 1-30 6. Click on the OK button. The To Do List screen displays with the new item added. 7. Click on the My WebCT tab to return to the My WebCT screen. My Grades You may access your grades from the central My WebCT area. There is a channel called My Grades and if there are grades that are available to you, they will be displayed in the My Grades channel area. See figure 1-31. Figure 1-31 1. To view your grade click on the link in the My Grades channel. In figure 1-31, the link is Eiffel Corp Astronomy – SA. The My Grades screen displays in the relevant course. See figure 1-32. Figure 1-32 In the My Grades screen you can see your marks. Notice in figure 1-32 the View Statistics button. 2. Click on the View Statistics button. The Column Statistics screen displays as seen in figure 1-33. In this screen you may see the statistics for the quiz. Figure 1-33 3. Click on the OK button. The column statistics screen closes and the My Grades screen displays.
